the biggest is that they will no longer breed orcas in captivities starting today. they just tweeted out a new ad, and here's a new look at it. >> this will be the last generation of orcas at sea world. the company that helped the world fall in love with orcas will end breeding and transition away from theatrical shows. the animals will continue to live at sea world with world class care. >> reporter: they can live up to 50 year, killer whales, and in a couple decades all of the orcas at sea world could be gone. they will introduce new natural encounters rather than the theatrical shows. the new encounters will focus on exercise and overall health. and they canceled all of the orca shows. the new shows start at that park in san diego, and then san

they announced that they're partnering with the humane society. this coming after sea world announced that their killer whale till acom may be dying of444444444444 a respiratory infection. >> amy: fox 35's dana jay has fire. waiting for updates from firefighters this morning. good morning, dana. >> reporter: good morning. this home right in the middle of a neighborhood here in mineola, in fact, neighbors tell us they were lined up along the fence on the edge of the property last night check things out. they said they really feel for the family here who not only lost the loved one, their house is a total loss as well. it was engulfed in flames, we're told, when crews arrived last night. three fire departments and paramedics on scene. the crews went into the home and

they tried to do cpr and revive the person on the scene. and they were unable to revive. and the city manager released this statement. we spoke to one of the neighbors who is deeply concerned. >> it's hard. i heard one of you say there's something set up for the family. the whole community would like to know. it's sad to lose someone in your family and not even be able to mourn them of memorabilia of them, it's awful. >> reporter: so the city has said that they are setting up a

we'll be sure to keep on top of that and share that information with the community as we get it. the fire department is also saying they don't know whether or not there were working smoke detectors in the home. but they said this should be a reminder to us all to make sure that our smoke detectors are working. dana jay, fox 35 news. >> john: also developing in orlando, deputies say that a man has been detained in connection with a deadly shooting. this happened just before 10:00. at the chowder bay apartments off of south rio grande avenue. a 26-year-old man died at the hospital last night. they are not saying if the man detained is a shooter. >> john: an entertainer with a legislateddary name dies by his concert. >> amy: frank sinatra jr. died. he was to be performing last

he was admitted to halifax hospital after complaining of being light headed and suffered a massive heart attack. he was kidnapped and held for ransom at 19 years old followed his dad in the musical business. he was 72. >> john: developing at this hour there's a battle on capitol hill over president obama's supreme court justice pick. ryan has more on how the lawmakers are reacting. >> reporter: it's been quite a reaction. the president nominated merrick garland to replace antonin`@ scalia in the supreme court. it's been met by opposition. garland is the chief justice of the dc courts of appeals. his name has consistently come up as a qualified nominee.

for the republicans to refuse any of the president's nominee. they said that no nomination should happen. >> because you've got a balance on the court that's very delicate right now with the death of the great conservative antonin scalia and here's the deal. merrick garland, i felt sorry for him yesterday. i think he is qualified but i don't think he is going anywhere. he's pretty much in the center politically. scalia was way on the right. you confirm this guy to replace scalia, you tilt the court to@ the left. >>@ and garland is considered a moderate. he will travel to capitol hill to go one on one. and one interesting note, garland is 63 years old.

court nominee in a generation. >> john: police say that the public is not in any danger because the crime was not random and the victim behind bars. police said two men broke into an apartment on conway after midnight on wednesday. officers said that the men robbed the man at gun point, shot and killed the dog and took off in the victim's car. that victim is now facing drug charges. he was seen running from the apartment shortly after with go black bags. the bags were found with gun. and police said they found more cocaine on magie's kitchen table. >> amy: a 13-year-old boy is in a mental health facility a one of his parents caught him trying to bring a loaded rifle to school.

patrick's day morning. we have seen some green lights around town. down in the attractions area. green today. don't forget to wear your green, or you will get pinched, like jayme has gotten pinched. >> john: he has an excuse. he's always on a green wall. i offered him my pocket square. this one here, but he said no. >> john: a woman is glad to have her dog back after her car was stolen with the dog inside. >> amy: the car was stolen and then crashed and burst into flame. the victim said she was at a red light with her dog, kenzie, and an 18 suspect jumped in the passenger side of the car, and that's when he got into the driver seat and drove off after she got out.@ and he crashed into a power pole

helped get him out of the car. it was fixin' to blow. >> a gentleman dragging the man out. and the car was already on fire. he was dragging the man out, next thing you see is the car burst into flames. you probably had 20-foot flames coming out of the car. >> police deputies and good samaritans@| searched for hours after the` crash until kenzie was eventual lip found. she did have some injuries. she was treated by a local veterinarian. they're still trying to figure out why the guy jumped into the car in the first place. he is expected to have his first court appearance this morning, but at last check he was at the regional hospital. >> amy: a family fearing for their lives after a car rolled up and rammed into them. right across from the boys and girls club. 27-year-old woman smashed into

sharonda bell. belle said she feared for their lives and tried to get away. police said that robinson followed goal a nearby gas station and rammed her car a second time. that's when bell said her cousin called the police. >> she was telling the police, that can you please send someone out, she's trying to kill us, she's ratching the car, and we have kids in the car. >> amy: she was charged with five counts of ramming the car. she believes that robinson is involved with the children's father. >> jayme: we have 60s and low-end 70s across the fox 35 viewing area. up north, down south, east, west. not a lot of deviation. everyone is what i call the same zone of temperatures.

the hustle and bustle of the tourist direct. and as we get into the afternoon, better rain chance up here. a few spokes of energy rotate through the east central side of the state into the coastal regions. light scattered showers more isolated in activity. by tomorrow, a big rain ramp up. passing on through. the strengthened westerly flow. as the front continues to move down across the spine of the state. it doesn't go too far south. eventually, it moves back north across the area. it'll capture quite a bit of moisture and coupling that with the low. it scoots out into the central gulf of mexico. it'll drag yet another system towards us. you can see by saturday at 5:00 p.m. pretty good coverage overall of the rain potential. and we continue with low clouds and potential for more rainfall and isolated storms in the mix.

interesting and a lot wetter, but they are beneficial rain drops but unfortunately it is all setting up in time for the weekend. solid 80s. and looming rain chance. and general increase in clouds. for tonight, mostly cloudy, a couple of showers wouldn't shock me. shouldn't shock you either. into friday morning, a couple drips here and there. the rain chance beginning to creep on up. we call it 50% saturday and saturday night. reduce to 30% on sunday. and monday, tuesday, wednesday, a distant memory, we dry things out and cool things down. a high of 71 on monday. >> kristin: we have congestion in altamonte springs. this is a look at i-4 at the 434, the westbound lane. it appears there's a disabled vehicle in one of the left hand lanes. that's slowing things down

shock and a family is in need of support after a deadly house fire. >> amy: it happened last flight in mineola street in mineola. fox 35's dana jay has been on the scene all morning long. >> reporter: good morning. as the sun comes up, we're getting a better look at how bad ily the house was damaged. the fire crews are on the scene to make sure we don't see hot spots.@ not only did the family who lives here lose a loved one, but this home is a total loss. it was engulfed in flames when crews arrived around 9:00 p.m. last night. three lake county fire departments and paramedics responded to the house. the fire cleef said that crews went into the home and pulled out one person. they tried to do cpr and revive him on scene but they were unable to do so. everyone else escaped, we're

neighbors said they saw the could motion as people tried to get people out of the home. they saw the commotion. >> they were banging on the winds windows and the doors, and asking them to come out but i guess they it were asleep. >> reporter: they are not identifying the person who was killed last night because they're makingtt sure that there's been enough time for all of the family members to be notifyed. they also have telling us it's a very tight-knit community. the loss will be greatly felt. they're trying to help out the family by setting up a drop-off location. once we find a this out, we'll pass that alok to you. >> john: a man thought to be impersonating a trooper in clermont was actually the real deal. >> amy: this one is kind of odd. >> reporter: you kind of have to

trooper pulled over a woman this past weekend. everything seemed normal. she thought it was someone pretending to be a trooper because the patrol car was unmarked. the police station had trouble figuring it out because he never reported the traffic stop. he said he gave the woman a warning because he recognized her as his neighbor. a woman tried to use fake $100 bills at a cvs store. the same woman is accused of using another fake $100 bill at a super cuts. witnesses said she speaks with an accent, and an image of her face. >> john: six pounds of heroin found in a backpack. they were checking the baggage of a 38-year-old man when he ayes lived from -- arrived from mexico.

turned over to authorities. >> john: accused of assaulting a police officer. >> near the ocean walk section of the beach 1:30 yesterday afternoon. the officer was trying to arrest 20-year-old jamie gordon for an alcohol violation and he resisted and took off running. the officer caught up with gordon and arrested him but he dislocated had i arm in the process. and gordon is facing charges of resisting arrest. they're only two weeks into the season and have had a record amount of arrests. >> the crowds are a lot bigger. last spring break, for the month of march and april, we only had about 94 alcohol arrests. we're way over that as of right now. >> amy: it's illegal to drink on the beach in volusia county and you will be ticketed or arrested for that.

governors has ranked ucf top for education. they consider graduation rates and employment and wages. ucf is the only university in the state to rank in the top three during all four years that the performance based funding has been awarded. >> john: new speculation a that the republican party could try to knock out donald trump. >> amy: after he had a huge night in the polls on super tuesday. he won three of the five states outright. he's leading in missouri right now. they're still counting in that state. the prospect of another candidate has not gone away. a group of conservatives will layout the groundwork for a possible third-party run. trump warns there could be serious consequences if if the party tries to take the nomination away from him. >> i think you would have riots. think bad things would happen. i do believe that. i wouldn't lead it, but i think@

>> amy: welcome back to "good day orlando." oia is about to get even bigger. the orlando aviation board has approved for the south terminal complex. $1.8 billion project. it's just south of the existing complex. both international and domestic flights would use the terminal. construction is scheduled to start next year. it's set to be complete by 2019. kind of hard to get an idea. >> john: trying to figure out where. >> amy: yeah, where everything is. >> john: it's going to be big. some of you have already gotten the tax refund but what do you do with the cash? >> luanne sorrell has cat amull.

>> if you want to pinch me. that's okay. i know what john wants us to do with the tax refund money? give it to him. >> everyone. and you have good things to do. start with saving it. is it a good idea or not? >> absolutely. you could save it. fund your ira for 2016. right now you are funding for 2015. put it in an emergency fund, if you don't have oner or set it asset. you knee that coming up in the next week or two something will come up. >> in a savings account you won't get much. >> but that money is put aside. put in the checking account, it's going to disappear, and poof, it's gone. even if you don't earn anything, it's better than spending without thinking about it. >> how about paying off debt? >> that's a great idea. you look at -- two ways to do it.
