generation at sea world, this is a very decision for us. we haven't taken a whale from the wild in 40 years, that means we're sunsetting our program over time. >> the reaction is mix went ahead tourists we spoke to. >> it's good to know, the humans and animals, and for that educational to see them. not in the natural habitat, so you get to see them, but sad they're in captivity. >> we're going to tomorrow, because we'll probably never see them again. i don't believe breeding animals neither. >> there are other changes as well. there'll be natural orca encounters, in the parks, instead of the shows. there's 29 orcas in their care, one that's pregnant. the final orca born in captivity, will stay with their family.

the latest. >> well, such a tragedy here. you can see the rubble left behind from the massive house fire, we learned the boy who died in the flames was 17 years old. he was a student at lake minneola high school, and located by the firefighters inside the house, right near the front door. this is all that's left of a home after a deadly fire ripped through the house killing a teenage boy who lived there. >> i seen the fire, and a couple of miles up the road. we got down here, the whole front of the house was lit up. >> the flames broke out around 9:00 last night, when the firefighters arrived, the home was fully engulfed. but they went inside to locate the victim, they found him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. he was the only one in the house

>> [inaudible]. >> crews from claremont, and groveland, battled the massive blaze that, lit up the sky and woke up neighbors. >> flames coming up 15 feet, it was big. >> immediately i saw the flames and stashtd praying -- started praying. it could be anybody's house. >> the mom, dad and their two surviving sons are now in temporary housing, while the city collects donations on their behalf. meanwhile the community is banding together to help. >> [inaudible]. >> and as far as donations we're told the family is really in need of clothes, and extended temporary housing. they did lose everything. a donation drive is being held at minneola city hall this saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m..

35 news. thanks, heavy rain and storms will hit parts of our viewing area tonight. >> glen? >> and up to the north of orlando, up around ocala, gainesville, and the beach has had their fair share. some areas have seen over an inch of rain. we're expecting to see some activity. in the heat of the day, some storms are getting stronger. nonetheless, here they are, trying to build back to orlando. the big question, will they make it? no, they won't. they will stay to the north and dissipate around 7:30, 8:00 tonigh444444444444 if you're around port orange, and it trails off and weakens as you go farther to the south. right now, still expecting to see rain in the daytona beach area. and most of this activity is pushing off to the east and the northeast. farther north up in palm coast,

gainesville to the ocala area, storms earlier, but once again the showers are winding down. one last batch in the gulf of mexico, that'll run into an atmosphere where it's already rained, and it'll cool down. it'll lose the energy, but it's still warm in orlando, 76, 79 up to melbourne, and talk more of the storms that will be redeveloping for tomorrow, and unfortunately could be a very soggy weekend, more on that coming up. >> thanks. new tonight, spring break is getting so out of hand in daytona beach, the beach patrol is asking for backup. hundreds of arrests have been made. we were there today. >> today the beach patrol officers, braced deputies on how to do the patrols here. there's ten deputies, and beach patrol officers in this three block area. >> it's a large amount of crowd, we didn't expect to have this many, but with the other beaches

instead. >> with the crowd, there's been a lot of underage drinking. and as of this morning, they've made 150 arrests in two dais. and yesterday, a beach patrol officer, dislocated his shoulder making an arrest. >> it was a person trying to talk to, and did person was fighting against him. >> the deputies have been giving the student a second chance. the first time they catch you drinking, they make you pour it out, the second time, you're under arrest. >> the students we talked about, have mix feelings. >> i think they're doing their job, but if kids aren't being stupid and having a good time, let them have a good time. >> it's a bit ridiculous, underage drinking is 100%

nobody is doing anything bad. but they're walking around and being jerks. >> the businesses reported far fewer students there, compared to this year, a lot of them might have come to daytona beach. fox 35 news. opponents of an abortion bill sitting on the governor's desk are calling on him to veto it. they brought more than 12,000 signatures to his office today. it would tighten the regulations on the abortion clinics. and frank sinatra jr., dies, and the family took him to the hospital, where he suffered a massive heart attack. he was 72 years old, and of course, he worked with his father as a musical director and conductor. you remember the orange

murdering his wife back in 2011. tonight he's awaiting a new trial, but the judge just denied him bond. we have the latest on this case from orange county. >> good evening, and as you mentioned, bob ward did go before a judge today, and she denied his bond, so he's still in prison for now. he and his team of attorneys went before the judge, asking for him to be let out of prison, while the case is appealed. in 2011, he was convicted of second-degree murder of killing his wife in 2009. last month, his sentence was vacated, effectively granting him a new trial. the order, was based on ineffective counsel. both are arguing on law that's out dated and they made a decision that he'll remain in prison.

itself on the menu for a wild southern bobcat. >> usually a bird disappears, we think it's a bobcat, their favorite food in the whole world is turkeys and they tend to pick off food like that. >> and they shelter most of the animals at night with a few exceptions this, open air exhibit is one of them. the wild bobcat he believes, likely climbed over the fence and picked off the old duck. >> every once in a while one of our animals will disappear. >> the zoo is surrounded by open land, and it's a fact of life the zoo director says that everyone should accept and appreciate. >> treat them with respect, it's something to show your visiting family and friend when they're in time. but i don't want them picking off our animals.

coast area, you know what i'm talking about. also picking up on the showers, the heat of the day combined with a weakening front, producing the numerous showers and thunderstorms. they develop around the noon hour, and then expand farther and farther south, but they'll not make it. they'll be dying off across pretty much all of volusia county and flagler county. port orange, one thunder shower in the middle of nowhere, and it's moving back to the interstate. if you're in volusia county, give it another hour or hour and a half, the storms will end. and flagler county, now winding down, nothing severe today no, hail storms, just scattered storms. gainesville, still decent rain and it extend out to the gulf of mexico.

hours to get basically through, including ocala, you're dry right now, but you saw, there's still rain to the west that's moving in your direction. basically from orlando, sanford area south no, rain, but flagler county, 1 and a half, one inch, nearly two, it goes to show in central florida, when you get the heat of the day combined with the humidity, you can squeeze out the moisture. still 86 in orlando, but only 66 in gainesville. because of the rain. but dry air is still downtown, that's the reason the storms can't make it, the air is too dry. 86 in the metro area, and southwest wind, and here's the planner for tonight. the skies are gradually not completely clear out, but partly cloudy. quickly warming back up in the 70s for tomorrow afternoon. and just like today, start out dry, more scattered storms in the afternoon.

storms lashlt in the day -- later in the day, and clouds and scattered showers for saturday and sunday, a pretty much chance of rain. cooler here, and again, this front, hanging around and what's left of it, but the front gets reinvigorated as we get through the weekend. it'll push there i the area -- through the area, and tomorrow is looking good earlier in the day. showers and storms begin to build. the models are underdoing it, but storms late in the afternoon and evening. saturday, showers and storms, begin in the latter part of the morning and the early afternoon. the cold front approaches and eventually the front get through the area on sunday, and it'll take its time, on the back enthe cooler air squeezes out extra showers on sunday.

this trails to the west and farther south is also showing signs of weakening, as it moves ashore, it'll fall apart as it continues to move to the east. and a few showers, extreme northern seminole county, just to the east of sanford, and also picking up on a few light showers. palm coast, you're in good shape. and also in gainesville, decent rain, this tails off to the west and southwest. overall, this is weakening, but i do expect to see additional rain in ocala, over the next one and one and a half hours. 78 in sanford, rain cooled up in ocala. the villages at 66 to 70. still 86 downtown, we have the southwesterly wind at 9 miles per hour, pumping up the temperatures and the humidity. here's the planner for tomorrow, starting in the upper 60s, increasing clouds, and another round of scattered showers later

tomorrow we're up to 80, co84. -- to 84. across the nation, no big out break of colder temperatures, but we'll tap into the cooler air, up to the north, as we go through the weekend, and early next week. for tomorrow, starting dry, and the late part of the afternoon and evening, chance of showers and thunderstorms as the fronts finally advance to us. then as we get to the day on saturday, early in the day, still a chance for shower and storm late in the morning, and here's 9 a.m. in the jacksonville area. we heat things up, and more numerous showers and storms are forming. i'm not expecting a lot in the way of thunderstorms on saturday, due to the fact the temperatures are cooler, but because the front is come through, we can't rule out an isolated thunderstorm. for tonight, for this st. patrick's day, looks good.
