see zootopia it was $60 and by the time you have popcorn and drinks you're over $100. and, you know, when i was a kid many years ago, it was 1.25 maybe and popcorn was 25 cents, drinking was 25 cents so that's what inflation will do for you. people don't realize they think once they retire the cost of gasoline growers and electricity will stay the same that's what it will get you. >> andrea: and you really got to think long-term in those respects. a lot of people think cds, bonds they're safe so while i'll -- >> well, they're guaranteed but they're not safe. the problem is if you don't have enough capital you're going to be eating into your principal so if you're investing in cds or bonds you'll generally not get enough growth and that's goes back to the problem of inflation. a lot of people run to safety because they want to know -- and they confuse safety with guarantees. they think they're going to put somewhere where i'mth i'm not going to run out of money. if inflation has done what it always has been you'll be eating

>> andrea: safety. also we talk about social security. >> well, this is a mistake we see many people making. early. they figure i'm 62 i'm going to going to be here. let me give you a word of advice for our listeners. baby boomers aren't going to probably your generation it will be there, andrea. it'll be there but you're going to have to wait longer and probably get a little bit less. but social security can be saved if the politicians would step up. the problem with social security as i said people grab it early at 62. let me give you an example. if your full retirement benefit is 66 let's make the math easy $1,000. if you elect to get it at 62 it's only $750. 750. >> andrea: wow! >> that carries throughout your lifetime. now, if you postpone it to 70 that $1,000 you would get at 66 is $1320 at age 70 for your entire lifetime and when you pass away if your spouse is the younger earner he or she gets that benefit so many people think -- the mistake people make in social security could be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
