march 22 of 2014, after encountering two run away teens. when the backup arrived, they found him shot and killed and the two teens dead from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds. today a memorial plaque is there. his father spoke at tonight's ceremony. >> he loved his job here. the community, the people, he got to know. >> the community members held lights many memory of officer german, honoring his spirit, they say it continues to shine in this community. >> it's important to remember this, and it's important to them too, that we keep the memory of a fallen officer alive. >> he would have turned 33 years old this year. fox 35 news.

more on the upcoming mission, a gorgeous night for a rocket launch. >> it is a beautiful night, and the conditions are ideal for launch tonight. this is primarily a mission to resupply the international space station with important things like food and clothing, as well as experiments, and nasa has another mission, some hot plans for the spacecraft, quite literally. filled with food, clothing and space experiments, nasa cargo containers bound for the international space station were carefully loaded into this spacecraft, the process so delicate, it's handled in a clean room, devoid of harmful particles. but after the rocket launches, on board up to the international space station, and the cargo is unloaded, nasa will expose the separated capsule to the

high in gainesville, after a 16-year-old boy was shot and killed. the sheriff's office and the guinnessville police, called a meeting with the community for everyone to voice their concerns. we were there at the power house church for the gathering. the officials tell us that some outside for disruptive, but things didn't escalate. he was shot and killed by the sheriff's deputies, and police officers on sunday night, the authorities say he refused to drop what looked like a very real assault rifle, but it turned out to be a fake. >> i'm not saying they were wrong or he was wrong, but at nighttime, that gun looks like a real assault rifle. they could have done their job a different way. >> the law enforcement officers, fired their weapons on denton, and they're all on leave, that's

looking really good. we changed the location this time, and i want to show you a bit about that. we're on the roof of the vehicle assembly building at the kennedy space center for a high up elevated view of this launch. it's dark outside, so you can't appreciate too much about it, but i want to show you a couple of things that are interesting. if you look there, the bright red lights, those are aircraft warning lights. the building, this roof is 525 feet up in the air. and you have to have lights like those to warn aircraft and flying planes in the area that this building is here. and also, this is a great elevated spot to shoot, this is glenn here, who's manning the camera for nasa broadcast, this broadcast goes out all over the world. and glenn is on the camera, manning this spot. the shot he has here, he's got

and get the shot. what a shot he can get with this camera. and so if we want to look out to the rocket and see what's going on right now, you'll see that atlas rocket off in the distance. it's in the 401 configuration. it'll get up off the pad quickly, and slice through the sky pretty quick, and we just heard from the weather officer, he said all conditions are go, there's no chance that weather can interfere with the launch tonight. we're live, fox 35 news. he has the best seat, no doubt about it. the forecast in central florida, does look good. the skies are now clear, and the upper level winds are light enough. not an issue at all. temperatures this modernization, started out cold. -- this morning, started out

we had some reports of frost in marion, and northern sumter counties this morning. and the temperatures are rebounding quickly, you can warm it up fast. 76 degrees in the metro area today. 58 in daytona, live picture in downtown orlando, just another beautiful night, 63, it's cool, still going to be cool for tonight, but not nearly as chilly as it has been the last two nights. sanford, 59 degrees. and gainesville, 58 degrees, the humidity nice and low, sitting at 49%. the planner for tomorrow, plenty of sunshine, and a light breeze, more moisture, and because of that, a few clouds in the afternoon. warmer tomorrow, back up to 80, and 81 inland. take a look at the temperatures in the u.s., very very warm, considering this time of year. 63 here, it's warmer in st.
