the urge earn sue to get the gunman off the street. the press conference packed. 29-year-old charles davis was gunned down at the barber shop as soon as he walked in by another customer who apparently recognized him. no one knows who he is. police say the man had a boy with him so saw the whole thing. >> he is going to say something to someone. this was int we are asking that person he tells please give us a call. just give us a name. that's all we need. it can be an anonymous call if you wish. >> you took somebody very important to us. [crying] please, if you know something, come forward. i don't know how i'm going to bury my son. >> romona: so sad. charles davis was the father of

have right now what was going on between charles davis and the killer? they're hoping that maybe surveillance video somewhere in this area will help them track down that killer to get all those answers. getting answers, catherine bosley, cleveland 19. >> romona: thank you. i also want to tell you about a store owner who was assaulted in the old brooklyn neighborhood earlier today on pearl road. the owner was pistol whipped and treated on the scene by ems. the suspect was arrested. >> mark: and akron police need your help tracking down a suspecho minority behavioral health building. it happened almost a week ago. if you see the romona, call 911. do not approach him. call the u.s. marshal service at the number on your screen if you have any information. today it is the tail of two weather stories. we saw both wet and dry weather earlier today and right now we are tracking showers. there will be people heading to

a soggy thanksgiving day? >> jeff: well, part of it will be and it is certainly going to be soggy tonight. we have wet roadways all over the place, especially across the northern part of the state. this is mixing in with a brief period of sleet at times. you can see that mage in. ta color in geauga county as the system comes through. where it is not raining right now is basically along and south of the u.s. 30 corridor. we are seeing the stein island. if you are traveling along the turnpike westbound you are going to be running into that. but more to come tonight and through tomorrow morning. we have an alert for this light rain as this system continues to come through. a lot of cloud cover for your thanksgiving. i have the alert going until 10:00 a.m. after that this will diminish down to a drizzle. so if you are heading out the door right now, light rain, steady temperatures around 40 degrees or so.

through the night. but things are looking better though as we get into black friday for the shoppers at least most of the day. all is quiet right now. we are not talking about any snow. but sooner or later that will be coming again and the big question is will the city of cleveland be ready for the first major accumulation? cleveland 19 chris tanaka is here to explain the snow removal plan. >> reporter: yes. the focuses on snow removal with best results through a systematic approach. the plan is a comprehensive proposal that provides snow removal service to all city streets during a snowfall event that produces anywhere from one to six inches of snow. priorities is servicing main thoroughfares during the snow fall then litting residential streets with a goal to service all streets within 48 hours after a snowfall event.

>> mark: thank you. thanksgiving is one of the biggest travel days for drivers. the ohio state highway patrol is giving reminders to everyone hitting the road for the holiday. stay aware by limiting distractions behind the wheel. of course, avoid drinking and driving and this year they are warning people about drugged driving. >> as we look more into the statistics of drug driving, we are finding that crashes involve drugs. so we have 183 people statewide, officers from all kind of different agencies, sheriff's departments, police departments, highway patrol that are all seeking out drug drivers. >> mark: state patrol reports that nine people were killed in accidents during thanksgiving weekend last year. they say if you do see a problem on the road, call 677 and a

turkey that we ate for the post-meal drowsiness. according to liz dejulius a registered dietician at the cleveland clinic, it's true. turkey does contain an amino acid tryptphan that reacts with the brain. >> you may feel more sleepy but not so much that it is putting the turkey tola usually the combination of a little bit of tryptphan with the high amount of food and excessive carbohydrates. >> romona: that's my problem. she says if you are trying to avoid the post-meal crash it is best to try and fill half of your plate with veggies. never going to happen. and you might be surprised at how many calories are contained in a thanksgiving meal.

>> reporter: as you sit down to enjoy your thanksgiving plate. we have some fun facts for you to kind of break down that meal for you. and it starts with this one right here. wondering how many calories are on average in a meal? well, just your dinner, 3,000 calories. now then you tack in the appetizers, all the cheese and crackers and the dips that you eat beforehand and then, of course, you can't forget the dessert. how about the pecan pie, pumpkin pie, apple pie, you name it. all of it ala mode. 4500 calories on average per person on that meal. so what does it all add up to? well, the experts are saying that about a .2% weighs increase after an average meal for an american. if you wonder how do you burn that all off? maybe you want to try to burn that all off after the meal. just for 1,000 calories the average american size to burn

now. yeah, slow go where we have the wet roads. some of the steadiest rain is coming out of elyria about -- starting to impact the western suburbs, rain reported at cleveland-hopkins airportment if you are driving to the airport and parking the car in a park-and-ride you are dealing with that and heading west as well. that's where we are starting to see some steadier light rain traveling south it is not bad. most of the rain is across the northern part of the state. columbus is dry. this is the next wave of rain that's moving through tonight and especially overnight. now temperaturewise we are holding steady upper 30s to right around 40. not much -- futureview is not seeing much early this evening. remember, i showed you that ribbon of moisture. that's going to be here by 1:00 in the morning and 7:00 a.m, temperatures could go

40s by 7:00 a.m. and then a lot of cloud cover tomorrow, light rain in the morning for your thanksgiving. temperatures will be seasonable and then during the afternoon that diminishing down to a drizzle. we're not talking about heavy rain. this is futureview additional rain for the most part. it will be quarter inch or less. so that's not going to cause too many issues out there. just slow things down on the roads. and i told you about the alert tonight and morning for that light rain. by 7:00 a.m. i have the temperature at 42. so we go up a little bit. light rain in the forecast tonight. akron-canton 43 by 7:00 a.m. and happy thanksgiving, 47 the high. 42 at 8:00 a.m, 46 at 11:00 during the afternoon about 47 and drizzle expected through the afternoon. yeah, it will be damp. i know a lot of you out there,

friends for thanksgiving, you should also plan to pack some patience. plan for long lines at the airport, busy roads and delays. jeff tanchak now with if the weather with cooperate with your busy schedule. >> jeff: all in all not too bad across the country really. no big snowstorms or anything like that. it is mainly rain and that's what we are seeing here tonight and through tomorrow morning. it is mainly light rain but we got wet roadways out there and it is going to be slow just pack your patience as romona said. so now through about 10:00 a.m. in the cleveland area that's where we are going to be seeing the steadiest rain. as we go east now through ashtabula county if you are going to be driving up i 90 towards erie, pennsylvania it is a steady rain. you see that right here around shardon and beachwood area could be sleet at times. temperatures in the upper 30s. we are right on that threshold.

where it is not raining much right now is here from mansfield, wooster, canton and if you are traveling to columbus should be okay. temperaturewise we don't do much throughout the night. steady around 40 and we could go up a couple of degrees towards morning. 38 akron-canton, little bit of light rain there and in downtown cleveland light rain and 39. so it is a coming down. this rain is going to be with us through the night. a damp thanksgiving because the light rain will diminish down to a drizzle. right now we are looking at a mainly dry friday. if you are heading out to the malls in the morning and friday, you should be okay looking pretty dry. you can see right here tomorrow best chance of rain will be in the morning and then it drops as that light rain turns into a drizzle. much more on the weekend

romona? >> romona: president-elect donald trump has announced his first two female cabinet picks. south carolina governor nikki haley shies she is accepting president condition elect donald trump's offer to be the u.s. ambassador to the united nation out of a sense of duty. in a statement this morning the president-elect praised the daughter of indian immigrants saying she has a proven track record of bringing people together. and g.o.p. donor betsy accepted mr. trump's offer. she is his choice to be education secretary. she is from michigan and a long-time advocate of school choice reform. no word on if mr. trump is making anymore picks before the holiday. he is in florida for thanksgiving. >> mark: and the rta is getting ready to reopen the westbound tracks at tower city. this after four months and about $8 million.

takes us to the downtown hub and getting answers what's difference with the new tracks. >> it is a totally different looks on the tracks and rta officials say it was a long, overdue project. >> we have had to have slow orders. have the train goes through slower until we get them fixed. >> reportr: the 1,000 feet of tracks hadn't been redone since 1990. rta ceo says the ties hitten underneath the asphalt typically have a 20-25 year life. we were at year 26 and couldn't even inspect them. >> not being able to see the ties before was an issue. we didn't know what the issue was if there was an issue. >> reporter: so that all got ripped out. new track, new ties, new base and a whole new look. >> instead of tuesdaying traditional wood and ties we use concrete ties which last more longer and give us flexibility being sure trains are closer to the platform and convenient for customers. >> reporter: now rapid traffic moves back to the improved track and off the temporary auxiliary

city that was improved for this project. over the next few months rta officials are working to track down another $8 million to do the eastbound track in need of the same improvement as the westbound. they say they already have the plans so when grant money hopefully comes through mid-year next year, construction can start on the eastbound track about 120 days later. getting answers in cleveland, laura de maria, cleveland 19. >> mark: officials say the new tracks will definy on monday and host a customer appreciation event during monday morning's rush hour. officials say they could have the tracks open even earlier though over the holiday weekend. good news for those who will be in cleveland heights this weekend. you can park for free from friday through sunday. the city has announced a city wide free parking weekend to celebrate small business weekend and the beginning of the shopping season. free parking will be offered at metered spots and city parking lots and parking garages.
