about a carbon monoxide scare late last night. this unfolded in elyria. lorain county automotive services evacuated after 30 reported feeling sick. seven were taken to the hospital this morning. they're all expected to be okay. the building will remain closed throughout the weekend. >> nichole: a busy kitchen this thanksgiving morning at st. augustine in tremont. today they expect to feed 21,000 people all for free. a live report minutes. >> tia: it's another busy travel day. we keep an eye on the roads this morning. you see what you have to contend with. a lot of haze out there, some rain as well, and we're also keeping our eyes at the airport. so far so good for thanksgiving travelers. >> nichole: good morning. happy thanksgiving. hopefully you wake up to hey house that smells to good this morning. that and some turkey, and hopefully there are no oven malfunctions today or turkey

brian duffy. >> tia: i'm tia ewing. with millions still traveling this morning, the big question you want to know when you see that live shot out there, will this weather hold up. let's go to meteorologist samantha roberts who has your turkey day forecast. happy thanksgiving, sam. >> samantha: happy thanksgiving as well. if you're just waking up, a big happy thanksgiving to you. i hope your morning is off to a great start. a lot of you already firing up the oven getting the casseroles in. it's we're starting to dry out. the rain that moved through last night has moved to pennsylvania and new york. i have scattered light rain east of cleveland in ashtabula county. there's light shower activity west of elyria. if that holds together, that will move through lorain county and then eventually into cuyahoga and medina counties. so we're not totally done with rain just yet. through the 9:00 hour we could see a few scattered showers popping up.

cold weather and wear something waterproof on top of your running clothes. clouds and drizzle for the rest of the day. i think if you play a little backyard football today, you shouldn't have any major issues, although the ground may be wet this afternoon. upper 40s for you with, again, that little chance of drizzle later in the day. we'll look ahead to the weekend and talk about black friday at 6:15. over to you guys. >> tia: we're tracking the flights coming in and ao departing from cleveland hopkins. there's some good news out there for you. everything looks good. all departures are on time through 9:30 this morning and arrivals the same story, on time. we will let you know if anything happens to pop up. >> nichole: so far so good. we made it through the busiest thanksgiving travel day with hardly any big problems. smooth sailing at hopkins yesterday as thousands of people flew in and out of cleveland. we got mixed travel reviews from the people we talked to. >> it was very busy.

minutes. so it was pretty awful. i almost missed my flight. so i would not recommend traveling right now. >> it was very smooth surprisingly. there was a lot of crowds, but i mean, the airport handled it very well. no issues or anything like that. >> nichole: a lot of kids coming in for college breaks probably. in comparison, an estimated 21,000 people flew into cleveland for the republican national convention this summer. about 15,000 flying in thanksgiving. >> tia: it didn't take long for the season of giving to go into effect at st. augustine parish in fremont. >> nichole: sia nyorkor is right next door where they're kicking off the morning with breakfast first before the big day. it's the 44th straight year for this event. >> sia: yes, good morning, tia, good morning nicki.

can you believe? this has become a cleveland tradition for people to leave their homes on thanksgiving day and come out here to the st. augustine hunger center and feed thousands. they expect to feed 21,000 people today. they have 1500 turkeys they prepared over the last couple months. they froze them, and today they will feed people, dressing stuffing, pumpkin pie, green beans, you name it, it will be there at st. augustine. and hundreds come out to serve the hungry right here in this community. so right now we are right next door like you said at st. joseph. the doors just opened. there are people pulling up right now to go in there and volunteer, and they will serve breakfast here, and then we'll head down the road to st. augustine and feed the thousands of people there. like i mentioned, it is a tradition. we're looking forward to it, and

>> tia: this is really some wild video. a wine store employee in new york is recovering from burns to his hand and leg after his e-cig exploded in his pocket. you can see his pocket started to sparkle, and all of a sudden the e-cigarette explodes several times. he was taken to the hospital and is currently in stable

will have to have surgery for his burns. president-elect dvt issued a thanksgiving message on youtube overnight. in it trump called on americans to put aside their differences and help move the country in the right direction, the ashtabula selected betsy devos as education secretary and nikki haley as u.s. ambassador to the united nations. >> nichole: time is police officer who was shot tuesday night while in the line of duty has died. officer colin rose was on life support after he was shot in the head. the 29-year-old stopped a man while investigating possible car break-ins a few blocks off campus near detroit. police say a man was arrested after the shooting and remains in custody, but he's not been charged as of yet. rose was with the wayne state university police department in

a sixth child died following that deadly school bus crash near chattanooga, tennessee on monday. ntsb is looking into why the driver johnthony walker diverted from an approved bus route at the time and he did not have alcohol or drugs in his system at the time of the crash. walker faces multiple counts of secular manslaughter. >> tia: the average american eat 4500 calories today, about that's a lot of food. here's how you can justify picking out. go to the cleveland annual turkey trot. laura demaria ran it last year, and you have time to sign up. the 5k takes off at 9:30 this morning outside of public hall on lakeside avenue. a warning from tsa this morning and really it applies to people flying throughout the thanksgiving weekend. they put out a list of food items you can fly with.

and casseroles are good to go. gravy, cranberry sauce and creamy dips don't make it through airport security. just so you know. we're looking out for you. >> samantha: i had no idea you could take food on an airplane. i didn't know that. >> nichole: i was thinking about that. why would you do that? i'm thinking maybe people are bringing pies from out of town that are famous or people like, or the college kids going back to school with leftovers. >> tia: right. you can buy food in the airport and take it on the plane. it's s you could do that. where have i been? i guess living under a rock. i always throw everything away. i've been doing that unnecessarily. all right. we've got fog outside. this is a live look outside over downtown cleveland, and you can't see much. i don't think fog will be an all-day issue for us, but watch out for it early this morning. 44 is the current temperature in cleveland, so it is on the

as you travel farther inland it gets cooler. a lot of you wake up in the 30s. we have cloudy skies, and the rain that moved through last night, that has all moved out into pennsylvania. you can see so some snow there farther off to the east. for us it's clouds and rain. i see scattered showers through lorain, erie and huron counties. if they move in they move into cuyahoga and medina and summit and geauga counties. it's just light rain, though. i don't think today is a washout. by about 10:00 our scattered showers will all be gone. we will keep clouds through the day, and there's a little chance of some patchy drizzle or light rain developing even through the afternoon and into tonight. but i think you're most likely to get rained on this morning. the chances really diminish into the afternoon. our temperature trend today. we're in the 40s all day, so very cool, 47 midday, and then

my turkey trotters, you might run into a little spotty shower activity this morning, but i don't think the race will be a complete soaker or anything like that. 6:18 now, and here is the forecast for tonight. i know a lot of you will be camping out maybe you're going to stay at home or go see a movie. i feel like my family sees movies on thanksgiving. this is what you're looking at for tonight. cloudy skies, spotty showers are possible but the keyword there is spotty. temperatures pretty much hold steady in the mid-40s for most of the night, but if you're one of those folks who is going to be out at macy's until 2:00 in the morning, i think they're open until 2:00 a.m. it's going to be cold when you leave the store. upper 30s by early tomorrow morning. spotty showers possible for black friday. not a washout. any rain we see tomorrow will be very isolated but will look like rain all day. no sunshine on black friday.

wintery mix for my lakeshore folks, and those of you in the snowbelt, little to nothing in the way of accumulation before we round out the weekend with sunshine. look at sunday. that is going to be gorgeous. enjoy it, though, because next week rain is back. over to you. >> nichole: thanks, sam. we give thanks this morning for a new program that's providing one of a kind classes for young cleveland city school students. the fund, a nonprofit partnered up with the children's museum of cleveland to bring special five s.t.e.m. based classes to kindergartners at euclid park elementary. they will creatively inspire students to dig deeper and dream bigger. good news this morning. we're told this pilot program will be back again next school year. how cute is he? >> tia: they look like they're having a great time. i love it.

>> tia: welcome back. happy thanksgiving to you for the eighthnd obama family will celebrate thanksgiving at 1600 pennsylvania avenue. these are just a few pictures of his traditional presidential turkey pardon, and also the first family serving thanksgiving dinner to veterans last night. if you're the president of the united states, that means the cameras are always on you, right? in eight years president barack obama has been the focus of 2 # million pictures. that's 250,000 pictures per year, and what i found looking through some of them, president

>> you okay, baby? >> tia: nope, president obama wasn't talking to michelle, although she's one of his babies. seems like potus has a soft spot and way with kids, able to connect with them, even getting this bundle of joy -- >> oh. >> tia: -- to stop crying in june of 2011. since then intimate images of the potus have been snapped, many features children. at this any aisle and go goo goo ga ga over barack, and sometimes they're left in shock. this picture was captured in 2009 and shows a white house saf member's son in a trance as he touched the president's hair in the oval office. there's this one. children being greeted by the president at a school in bethesda, maryland in 2011. a mix of emotion on their faces. open wide. this was photographed in the

2012. a boy sharing strawberry pie with the president. the president caught in spider-man's web during an early halloween celebration, and this has the entire room laughing out loud. obama took a picture with this little boy asleep during the father's day ice cream social in the state dining room in 2013. a total of 2 million images have been taken by this man, pete so t house photographer. he has seen the first family in all kinds of lights in the last eight years, but he himself has shied away from them. >> i just feel committed to documenting this presidency the best way i know how. >> tia: one thing is clear, he does know how. it shows a softer side of a man often been casted in and under harsh lights. >> why people hate you?

and god is love. >> that's i'm talking about. >> tia: it's true on this thanksgiving day, we all could use a little bit more love. >> nichole: i like that. time is 6:26. if you're traveling today on the roads, you might run into some rain, but sam, we are thankful at least it's not severe weather. a little hazy and wet and messy, but nothing like a lot of snow or anything like that to deal with. >> samantha: yeah, nothing crazy, okay? except we're looking at, what, 480? you can't even tell. 480. he says 480. i don't know. well, the point is, if i don't even know what i'm looking at, then it's foggy outside. so be aware that the fog threat is, you know, present this morning. i think it will erode by mid-morning and we'll be just fine. watch out a lot of you out early traveling here and there. so just be careful.

have a little bit of light rain out there, particularly out to the west of clooeveland. this is in lorain county. the showers drift off to the east. if you live in cuyahoga or northern medina county, heads up. you see some light rain as we approach the 7:00 hour. i think by mid to late morning we're done with any steady rain, but even into the afternoon we'll keep the clouds and there may be spotty drizzle around this afternoon, too. i don't think we'll get poured on, but i wou waterproof jacket, sensible shoes, you know the drill. you don't want to be at thanksgiving dinner and walk outside to do something and get drizzled on. that would not be fun. temperatures in the 40s today. we start off at about 44, and we're going to stay around the lower to middle 40s through the 9:00 hour. 47 at 1:00, and then 48 by 3:00. that turkey in that graphic looks really, really good,

for you. maybe you camp out tonight, or maybe you're checking out the stores tomorrow. either way, i'll have your black friday forecast, and we'll look ahead to the weekend coming up at 6:45. nicki. >> nichole: thanks, sam. we are checking on flights right now. we have one delay, a flight to washington, d.c. other than that, everything is running on time. >> tia: as for the busiest travel day of the year, things went smoothly yesterday at cleveland hopkins airport, and really country. almost 4 million americans flew to thanksgiving destinations. we couldn't find any major setbacks. mixed reviews, though. some said the tsa line was way too long, but we found a woman at hopkins who said the longest line she waited in was for coffee at starbucks. >> i had no problems. we ubered it, but they said parking wasn't that bad. it was lighter than i expected.

breakfast and spend the day with other volunteers and family members. i am joined here with -- come on over, miss shoe shalapa. did i get it right? >> you did. >> sia: this has being a cleveland tradition in tremont. talk about it, please. >> i'm sure it's going on for 30 years. i've done the breakfast for 14 years now. we just love it. we get tons of v we get to serve everybody at the tables, and it's a chance for people that don't get extra special loving to get some on thanksgiving. >> sia: i hear some people have breakfast here, and then some head over to st. augustine's later on? >> right. we serve a meal at st. augustine at 11:00, a beautiful turkey dinner with all the fixings and a fun time, too. it's very family oriented down here. the sisters got things ready for kids, and there's entertainment. we invite everybody to stay here

the cold and hang out if they want to. then you can head down there for a meal at 11:00. >> sia: doors open at 8:00. if you're hungry, come on down for a meal. there's good people here and good food because i smell it. my nose is like, what's cooking in that kitchen? we will be here all morning on air and online, and can't wait to tell you about all the wonderful people here serving the people that need here in this community. for now i get answers in tremon 19 news." >> tia: looking forward to volunteering. the time of giving is in full swing right now. we mentioned it earlier. 4500 calories is the average consumption for american adults only today, okay? just today alone. >> nichole: it's just today. it's already. there are ways to make up for the overeating. it doesn't mean you have to do an intense workout either. most people look forward to the holidays but not to the extra pounds that often come along with all those delicious dinners and treats.

"cleveland 19 news." interesting. >> nichole: thanksgiving day is a huge day for football, right? eat the big meal and sit on the couch and watch football. the lions taking on the vikings at 12:30 on cbs 19. at 4:30 the cowboys battle the redskins and the steelers take on the colts tonight. that game kicking off at 8:30. >> tia: this morning police continue their search for the up gunman that kimmed a 21-year-old man inside a garfield heights bash r charles davis was shot on tuesday night. that's a picture of him on the screen. after an argument happened with the shooter. investigators say the suspect had a small boy with him at the time of the shooting, and they hope that that little boy will say something to someone so they can then call police. >> nichole: a huge drug bust in akron. police arrested gerry davis after finding 80 pounds of cocaine in his car. he's facing a five-count indictment including possession with the intent to distribute.

time is 6:44. caught on camera. a shocking police ambush as an officer wrestles with a wanted fugitive. the suspect was hiding in the trunk of a car and was armed with a gun. take a look. you see the officer eyeing up as he's about to open it, the suspect tries jumps out. the officer wrestled the suspect to the ground and restrained him until backup arrived. no shots were fired and the weapon was a replica handgun. thankfully no injuries either. >> breaking nude overnight. mortgage rates climb above 4% for the first time this year, and that means it will cost more

victory. they're lower than 10 to 20 years ago. experts predict they will increase throughout the year. >> tia: for parents with children with special needs, shopping for toys they can play with can sometimes be difficult. this morning cleveland 19 reporter denise zarrella is introducing us to a local volunteer program that creates what they call adapted toys. >> denise: replay for kids a local nonprofit that brings a smile to kids with disabilities this holiday season. their volunteers work all long like santa's elves and put together 1500 adapted toys that they'll give away next week. you're watching youtube video of a little girl who is able to play with a toy because it's adapted with a switch. natalie of replay for kids says its her passion to help kids locally by adapting toys with switches that made it easier for kids with special needs to learn and play.

relative's house all week long, if you go to grandma you go to your aunt's house or parents', they're out and about early on this thursday morning. it is 6:48, and you can see that we do have a little haze out there. a little fog in some areas, so just take it slow, and the roads are wet, too. here's a radar map. a wide view shows the entire coverage area, and the rain from last night is long gone. again, the roads are wet, and we still have lingeringht here around carroll county, stark county and cuyahoga county. we have light rain or drizzle. out to the west elyria is seeing showers right now. this is all light stuff moving east. so we're not totally done with rain just yet. i do think by about 9:00 or 10:00 we should be mostly done, and then we're just clouding the rest of the day. there might be some drizzle that develops this afternoon. just plan according if you're out and about throughout the day.
