chee'-duhn) in western iowa has been fired after being found asleep in a classroom with a student. kyle ewinger said this student is more like his son....and that they got back late from a football game and the student's grandmother's house was locked so they slept in the classroom. elias: in the number two spot this morning... elias: christina williamson has pleaded guilty to two counts of child endangerment. williamson, who ran a daycare williamson, who ran a daycare out of her home, was arrested back in may after her husband secretly recorded her abusing children in her care. she is free on bond for now until her sentencing in december. sabrina: the third thing you need to know before you walk out the door... sabrina: the state of texas has cut off medicaid funding to planned parenthood clinics. the move comes after undercover videos released by the anti- abortion group center for medical progress, which alleges the videos show that planned parenthood illegally sold fetal tissue for profit planned parenthood denies the allegations. elias:

number four... elias: here in iowa, governor branstad wants to privatize medicaid. a plan that has some asking how it would benefit iowans. under the umbrella of medicaid, is a program called hawk-i. it's an option for families who need insurance for their kids. the iowa attorney general is looking at whether the governor overstepped when he made the decision to privatize hawk-i without approval from the board. sabrina: and finally in the top five... sabrina: if you own a drone.. the rules are about to change a whole lot. federal regulators plan to start registering both commercial and hobbyist drones. a department of transportation task force will start registrations as soon as this holiday season. officials say the idea is to create a "culture of accountability" to keep up with the skyrocketing popularity of to keep up with the skyrocketing popularity of drones. elias: an internal investigation has

make fraudulent purchases.. around forty such transactions have been reported. anyone with information can contact police or the polk county crime stoppers at the number on your screen. sabrina: new this morning...a crash in buchanan county sends several people to the hospital... sabrina: around eight- thirty yesterday morning a car crashed into a minibus at the intersection of highway 281 and fairbank-amish boulevard police say the car failed to stop at the intersection, then hit the bus as it was traveling east. following impact, the bus rolled trapping one of the riders inside of the vehicle. first responders were able to get everyone out. three people had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance...a fourth was transported by helicotper. " when you're dealing with buses or big vehicles, you deal with more injuries," wolfgram said. 29th county in iowa to have a confirmed report of the invasive insect. a state agricultural official found an infestation of the bug at a rest stop along interstate 380, about a half-mile north of the linn county-johnson county line. the emerald ash borer kills ash trees by feeding on their inner bark, disrupting the flow of water and nutrients. tree organizations and arborists say if land owners haven't already, they need to take action and make a plan....which may include removing a tree. a coach who also teaches has been fired after beeing accused of inappropriately sleeping next to a student. elias: kyle ewinger was fired on thursday, after the superintendent bill walked in on him sleeping next to an elementary student in his middle school social studies classroom. ewinger is the head football coach and social studies teacher in sibley- ocheyedan (oh- chee'-duhn).. but some say the situation is not what it seems. during last night's school board meeting, ewinger said this student is more like his son. he says they got back late from an away football game and the student's grandmother's house was locked so they slept in the classroom. "he corrects all of his homework, he has football kids tutoring him, he got him to summer school every day, he feeds him, he gives him allowance...he does all of the things a parent does for a child " says kim van der sloot, parent of three in the sibley-

the school board voted to terminate the teacher on the recommendation of school superintendant bill boer. the county sheriff was notified of the situation, but no criminal investigation is being done. "after their investigation, if they felt some kind of criminal charges would've been appropriate, then i assume that the probably will contact us then" says kevin wollmuth, chief deputy. elias: until then, the school is conducting itsr own internal investigation. sabrina: a woman who ran a daycare out of her home has pleaded guilty to two counts of child endangerment.... all part of a plea deal. 29 year old christina williamson was arrested back in may after her husband secretly recorded her abusing children in her care. in exchange for pleading guilty to the two counts of child endangerment .... one a felony and the other a misdeamonor ... other charges were dropped. lawsuit filed by des moines water works.. the suit names three iowa counties...claimin g they're to blame for counties...claimin g they're to blame for nitrates in the raccoon river. the trial isn't expected to begin until august of next year... but the issue of nitrates in the water had lead to a discussion on farming tactics and possible ways to cut them from getting into the water supply... sabrina: right now the main concern for most iowa farmers....harves ting their crops from the field. but some farmers still field this fall. they're called crops....and souverain explains how help keep soil healthy. from soil. but he says cover crops help. this year..he's testing out radishes and field peas. tillage radish and field peas have an easier time getting it out of the soil. so they absorb it into the plant..and when they die they release it back out and then the soybean and the corn can get the nutrient easier now because it's in a more organic form," said john cover crops increase the number of organisms living in the soil. it also reduces erosion..and cuts the amount of nitrates that leak into ground water. and those aren't the only benefits john has reaped. "i saw pretty close to a five bushel increase on my soybeans where we did it," said wilcox, plants cover crops. john says it cost him about 25 dollars per acre...to plant the crops using a crop duster. but farmers can get financial assistance. "those incentives are available to producers who may have never tried cover crops before and would like cover crops, something new. we also have cost share incentives available for farmers who done cover crops in the past and would like to continue to do so utilizing some of that money, said evans. each cover crop provides different soil benefits...

iowa lawmakers asking questions... the state leader wants to privatize medicaid. however, state legislators want to know how this will benefit everyone. state senator rob hogg has even questioned the governor on specifics about his plan and its benefits..... under the umbrella of medicaid, is a program called hawk-i. it's an option for families who need insurance for their kids. local 5 asked the governor about his plan during his weekly press conference monday. "22:48:51- why would conference monday. you consider transferring the administration of that program to out of state companies? 22:49:10 branstad - we're doing what 25 other states have done. going to a manages care system to better coordinate benefits.
