morning showers go through central iowa, but the rest of the day turned out pretty well. you might have noticed that the winds turned to the nw this afternoon. that was a cool front coming through which means cooler readings in the days to come. we will be mainly dry this evening, but a few showers will likely make it into western iowa this evening and try to move into central iowa later. they will likely dissipate as drier air is in place here. this should hold true into thursday too with lots of clouds, but not much rain here thanks to drier easterly winds. friday will be our day of showers and a few thunderstorms likely. i think we will get a major wave of rain come through late morning to early afternoon, then a bit drier in the late afternoon. then more showers will be possible in the evening. clouds may linger into saturday, but we should have the sun back for saturday afternoon into sunday morning. stephanie: also coming up, a campaign bus is switching sides. what once praised donald trump has been turned into art against him. stephanie: and the verdicts in. see what the jury decided after three days of deliberation. plus.... " local 5 news at 10 in hd starts now. we are iowa" stephanie/2shot good evening. i'm stephanie angleson. jack miller has the night off. tonight-- parents and kids in altoona on edge. this after police say two men drove up to two boys outside an elementary school ... trying to lure them into their truck with candy. stephanie: local 5's kattey ortiz has more in tonight's big story. kattey: of course those two boys were terrified ... but they were able to run away and tell the school crossing guard. the two men drove off -- tonight police are still looking for them. "it's just not something i expected to hear about right here." an unnerving scene just one block away from altoona elementary school. police say two boys were near 5th ave and 3rd street southwest around 3:45 tuesday afternoon.

home from school when two men drove up to them yelling they had candy ... and "they were pretty parents arrived and they were pretty shaken up as well." the boys ran back guard who called police. james bissett's fifth the whole thing. "she just said a white van tried to get a little boy. the police showed up, they wouldn't let anyone 16 year old jason through the area to get to the library with his sister. he says he's never had a second thought in his mind. "it's kind of messed up. we usually just come down to sit here and play at that park." school leaders sent out an email to parents today after gathering all the details with police. but the two men are still out there -- an uncomfortable feeling for people in the neighborhood. "my wife's going to be dropping her off for a little while at school and picking her up." when it comes to stranger danger ... police are commending the boys who ran away and called for help. kattey: the boys gave police a detailed description of the suspects. they are two white men. both with brown hair and hats ... one had a goatee. they are thought to be in a white two door chevy s-10 or ford ranger. call the number here on your screen with any information. back on cam in the meantime -- police will be patrolling the area before and after school. in the studio kattey ortiz for local five news we are iowa. stephanie: a guilty verdict for pete polson after days of jury deliberation. " "we the jury ma,e the following verdict, we the jury find the dedfendant pete jason polson guilty of the crime attempt to committ murder to mark mitchell" " stephanie: polson - who went on a shooting spree through pleasant hill last november- was found guilty of all nine counts in varying degrees. of the three attempted murder charges, the jury found polson guilty of one attempted murder and two "assaults with intent to inflict serious injuries."

however, he was found guilty of all other charges including two counts of willful injury, intimidation and drug related charges. stephanie/lam: an attempted murder charge carries up to 25 years behind bars... polson's sentence hearing is set for december 9th. stephanie: new details in the vicious road rage attack in new mexico that killed a four year old girl. stephanie: albuquerque police have a person of interest in custody. the girl's father and the suspect were cutting each other off on the interstate, when the suspect pulled up next to the family's vehicle and opened fired. he immediately fled the scene. strangers from across the country are sending support and money for lilly's funeral. stephanie: it's official, it's a no go for joe in 2016. stephanie: vice president joe biden has decided not to run for president...finall y ending the months-long rumors of a potential bid. he was rumored to make an appearance at the jefferson- jackson dinner this weekend in des moines, but that rumor is also squelched with this announcement.

"there are a lot of people who are coming to this dinner and they do want to see all of the candidates and they want to hear their vision. and they haven't made up their minds. so, this could be possibly a turning point." stephanie/ots: what was once a donald trump campaign bus... is being transformed into an anti- trump work of art... a peice of art in- action. a team of artists parked it outside of a chris christie event in newton today. the bus now has new banners hanging on both sides. one side reads "t - rump".... the other side reads "t - rutt." t-rutt is the anonymous artist in charge of this concept. the notion is let's imagine this bus, hlep cross the divived, there's a divisive moment that's a challenge. stephanie: the artistic team is inviting anyone who wants to toss a cup of red juice onto the banners to step right up. it's a metaphor for some of trump's comments about women. the artist, t- rutt, bought the

old bus off craigslist for 14-thousand dollars. stephanie: now to a story that quickly made national headlines. a heisman trophy candidate took time away from the game to meet a little girl with cerebral palsy. local five's jacob peklo joins us with more on the image that's gone viral. jacob: well stephanie, abby fuller is still adjusting to her newfound fame. but her family tells me that moment on the field...almost never happened. abby faber, honorary captain: "they've been sending my picture back and back to me, but i don't why they were sending it back and back." on saturday, abby faber somewhat reluctantly took the field as an honorary captain for the cyclones. steve faber, father: "normally when she goes, she wears headphones to kind of muffle stuff, so she wasn't too thrilled about it, but jenny told her, if you do this you can have anything you want from the concession stand, and that sold her." and the moment everyone's talking about, her parents couldn't even see.

stephanie: the sickness is from a bacteria known as shigella. it is so severe that 12 people have been sent to the icu. the restraunt in san jose was completely shut down after the outbreak. health officials suspect the disease was spread by an infected food handler. stephanie: meanwhile, there's a clear opinion on whether or not it's safe to drink alcohol when you're pregnant. the american academy of pediatrics issued their opinion today with a big n-o. they say it's not clear why alcohol is bad for the fetus, but they do know that when you drink, your baby's small develoing liver has to deal with the alcohol too. there are many other ways drinking can impair your child, and that's why they say to not drink at all if you're pregnant" stephanie: today is the day marty mcfly, played by michael j. fox, travels 30 years into the future. there, he discovers hoverboards, flying card and self-lacing sneakers. today, nike made one of those discoveries a reality. stephanie: they released the first pair of self-lacing shoes today, and

we've talked very very little since we both made the moves. that's just because we've been really really busy we texted a couple of times, we were really busy but we were at uh our former schools we would communicate quite a bit about different ideas we would use with our teams. i mean he was extremely positive and has some great motivational stuff that he uses with his guys so i love talking with him about that stuff.
