(mic ratimuc)ave not. i am preparing to do it in probably the next two to three weeks. >> okay. what will be the deciding factor? tonight the governor will be speaking here. what are you looking for in a candidate? >> i'm looking for someone who is bringing solutions and policy to education bringing solution and policy not only to the urban area and the rural, but to the urban communities where we're losing a lot of young people. and i'm looking -- that is one of my priorities. the other thing that i'm looking for is a lot of people out saying the fact that we have a lot of immigrants that are coming from sudan, from somalia, from out of the country. i want to hear our candidates going to strengthen those countries so that people will want to go home to go back home and be safe.
9:31 am
we're talking about safety in america. they got to be safe at home. we got people who want to go home and can't. and i want to hear a candidate say how well are we going to get people who want to go home back home. >> how long have you beavering in the iowa statehouse? >> this is my fifth term. it will be ten years. and i think i got one more in me. >> so what's fascinating is when could to iowa as a candidate folks like this representative hold a lot of sway with iowa voters. people are on the ballot, and he gets to help decide who becomes president. it's similar to this scene in the upcoming film courting des moines where state representative is being woulded by a candidate. >> governor, i read in the register about your work on the reservoir, as well as -- you enjoy politics. >> yes.
9:32 am
>> thank you. >> iowa is a trip, man. you should have stayed alone. >> she seemed to be in a hurry. >> didn't you meet her in washington? you said you had lunch with her. >> it was lunch. >> what do you mean? >> well, i ate, along with 300 other people. >> i told all the girls that you're basically friends with her. >> that's an exaggeration. >> you're a bad man, brown. >> excuse me, are you state representative thom browne? you got to be kidding me. >> yes, ma'am. >> i'm the campaign manager. would you have 20 minutes free tomorrow? she would like to speak with you. >> yes. >> seriously? >> tomorrow is good, anytime. >> does 5:15 a.m. work? she doesn't like to change her sleep schedule. >> sure. you bet. >> great. here is my car. tax me your name and i'll send you back the location. copy that?

>> i suppose. welcome back with marianne williamson. you have something else in common with bernie sanders. he was an independent running as a democrat. for those that don't know miss william son ran for congress as did i in california. you were pretty much democrat your whole life. >> i am a democrat your whole life. >> ran as an independent. why did you do that? >> because i was challenging the fact that two parties formed -- since the 1950s a little bit of an unholy apply answer. if you look at the history of the united states third parties have been extremely important. social security came from third parties. abolition came from third parties.
9:35 am
i think it was a naive move on my part. i always have perceived bernie sanders even though he is an independent technically has been. i think he's the one who stands for the real values of the democratic party that i grew up with. democratic party in my district didn't see it that way, and i don't know what made me think they would. so i see it as having been principled on my part but naive. i kept saying i caucus with the democrats but they weren't buying it. >> if you had seen her do speeches, which i did several times, i endorsed her candidacy. but you must have the bug a little bit. you came here, gave an amazing speech. are you getting back into lector politics? >> i doubt it. i think if i was younger i would probably say give me a few years to get over it. but i -- i think for that reason, i'm not feeling it. but you know, i have felt as i'm sure you did, you know, if -- my winning a congressional seat wasn't going to make everything
9:36 am
perfect, and my not winning wasn't going to make the struggle over. so i want to continue. i'm just as passionate as i always was about tissues i care about. so i i'm going to continue to -- i have more compassion for candidates. and we must support candidates that do mirror our beliefs when we see them. and that's why what i feel i just want to.org possible to help senator sanders win. >> we've seen more disfunction the house of representatives. you talks about this dysfunction. what are you thoughts on this? >> i think that there are many republicans who understand how our constitution operates, who understand that we have a constitutionally elected president. and who understand that there is a coequal branch of government with both the judicial and
9:37 am
legislative. and they know that they're working with the president, is what it's all about. but there are many, many republicans in office today, in the house of representatives, who don't feel that it is their job to in any way acknowledge even the legitimacy of the president. and that mindset is out of control. so why are we surprised it's causing chaos? it's causing cases chaos within the party. if we left their power continue and grow it will create more and more chaos within the country. i agree with eisenhower that the american mind that is best is liberal and conservative. i understand that there are high-minded principles there that factor into my thinking. this group of very, very extreme

allowed. >> you gave an impassioned plea. where did you meet her and where did you start this relationship with secretary clinton? >> i knew her a little bit when she was in the senate, and we had a close mutual friend of ours who was a congressman woman in cleveland who died an untimely death, and it was over that kind of grieving process tan funeral and all of that that we became especially close, and just love her. >> it seems from the comments in your speech that this is a bit of a different endorsement for you, isn't just another candidate. she means something special to you. >> i think she is a beautiful person. i think she has her heart in the right place. when bill clinton says this is the smartest person i ever met, i mean we should listen. that means something. but i just think she is a

beautiful person, and you know when you have someone who has been through kind of the trials and tribulations that she has been through, and such a very public way, and yet still has that instinct for service, still wants to be in the fight for, you know, those people who are kind of left outside of the lines, try to create a better economy for us in america, and she understands, you know, i think at some level i have the talent, i have the experience, you know, i have the wisdom that comes with the ups and downs that she has been through, and i
