a few light showers swinging through mainly northeastern iowa, most of us should remain dry today. the winds will be very strong today out of the northwest, blowing between 15 and 30 mph but we could gust up to 40 mph. between the cloud cover and the northwest winds, highs today are going to stay parked in the low 50s, but it will feel colder than that due to the winds. overnight we will see lows fall into the mid 30s with plenty of winds and wind chills in the 20s! thursday will still be windy and cool with highs only in the low 50s. the next chance of rain is going to come late friday night through saturday morning, so if you go trick or treating friday night, just be back home before 10pm for the best chance of staying dry. elias:

floor is now at the center of an f-b-i investigation. the video has triggered outrage across the country...and calls for action. the richland county sheriff is expected to announce what will happen to the deputy today. he is currently suspended without pay. elias: the third thing you need to know before you walk out the door... elias: wisconsin congressman paul ryan is expected to be formally nominated for house speaker today... in the election for speaker, ryan will face florida's daniel webster, who has been endorsed by iowa's steve king. ryan is expected to win, and be approved on thursday. sabrina: number four... sabrina: speaking of elections, a big night in colorado this evening, as the republican presidential candidates take the stage for their third debate. this time the candidates will be grilled on economic issues. national polls are now showing ben carson ahead of donald trump who has been the frontrunner almost since joining the campaign trail. elias: and finally in the top five...

new ownership over the gortz haus...which had been closed over rerligious freedom. an evangelical christian church called " harvest bible chapel" has purchased the once-popular wedding location. the former owners have also been very involved in helping out with the renovation process... sabrina: new this morning...the ottumwa post office could face some penalties... sabrina: a federal safety agency has proposed penalties for the post office over work conditions... the occupational safety and health administration says postal officals exposed mail carriers to excessive heat on at least two occasions. an investigation by osha in july found that on june 10th a carrier reported heat illness symptoms, but was told to finish their route. the heat index that day reached 100 degrees. osha says a different carrier was hospitalized for heat illness on july 13th. they have recommended a penalty of 46,600 dollars. elias: we are following the latest on that shooting in

eastern iowa that shut down businesses monday elias: police believe a domestic issue may have been the cause for the shooting rampage that began at a law office... police say robert mayes fire shots at his wife's workplace in davenport monday. that office was near the navy recruitment center. then he went to his father in law's workplace in bettendorf, where more shots were fired. police tracked mayes down...but he shot himself before they could arrest him. sabrina: a newly renovated cafe in pella is left in rubble after a monday-night fire.... the fire happened around 10 p-m at the coffee cup cafe on east oskaloosa street...investig ators think the fire may have began near the attic. "firetruck sirens" this video taken by the local radio station, shows the by the local radio station, shows the flames shooting from the roof. by tuesday morning, only a crumbled shell was left. the owners had just had a grand opening in june...now they're not sure

sabrina: no matter the weather, kids will be looking forward to bag-fulls of treats this halloween... but that sweet tooth can lead to dental trouble. according to the centers for disease control, one in four kids under age 5 already have cavities. and the american dental association says kids need to be careful with candies. younger especially at risk. as an alternative to the baton. sabrina: the police- certified weapon is made of plastic...but are still very strong. officers have been training in how to use them to restrain suspects and more...making them a more universal tool over the baton.. morning iowa in hd. we are iowa." sabrina on your money now sabrina a pharmacy mega-merger is in the works. walgreens is buying rite aid in a deal valued at more than 17- billion dollars. the merger would combine the nation's second- and third-largest pharmacies. and the new company would knock c-v-s off the number-one spot. the deal still needs to pass antitrust review. sabrina: i-b-m has become the focus of a federal investigation. investigating ibm's accounting certain transactions in the u.s., u.k. and ireland. ibm says it learned of the probe in august and is with the ibm shares fell following the disclosure of the investigation. sabrina: and finally....you should expect to see lower heating bills this winter. that's thanks to predictions of warmer weather heating bills this predictions of u-s in the coming the weather phenomenon

people in the neighborhood say anyone trying to cross the street has to dodge traffic, without a crosswalk or any sort of pedestrian sign. schoolbus drivers say coming out of the bus garage at that intersection is problematic. they're not allowed to take left turns because there's too much traffic....with alternatives that can be two miles longer than their normal route. even worse .... they say it's costing taxpayers an extra fifteen- thousand- dollars of gas money each year. "everybody we talked to signed the petition saying yes we need it. and we heard personal stories from them how they have to detour their own personal cars because it gets too busy sometimes and they cant even come out of the neighborhood and turn the direction they wanna go." sabrina: the petition got around a thousand signatures....and city leaders have approved funding for the project. elias: closed down over relgious freedom... but new owners of a building in grimes can once again pick and choose weddings without penalty. just a few months ago the gortz haus shut its doors after the owners refused to host a same-sex
