washington politicians ... even the moderators themselves. one target they all railed against, the mainstream medai. elias: number four... elias: and it was no surprise that wisconsin's paul ryan would come out the winner in wednesday's ryan would come out the winner in wednesday's election for speaker of the house. the secret- ballot tally was 200 for ryan, 43 for florida's daniel webster. his nomination is expected to be approved today, making him the youngest speaker since before the civil war. sabrina: and finally in the top five... sabrina: waukee police will now be able to use body cam video in their investigations. thanks to a private donation 18 officers are now equppied with body cameras. officials say the video won't be available to the public unless its subpeonaed in court and the officers will be deciding what interactions are kept. elias: police investigating some shots fired near a school wednesday

elias: des moines police believe they have identified the vehicle involved in the shots- fired outside of east high school yesterday... witnesses saw what looked to be a fight about to break out, and students hop into an s-u-v and fire off a gun. it happened about a 1/2 block from east high's campus, as the students were leaving. a des moines public schools spokesperson says east high went into lockdown mode for seven minutes. sabrina: the iowa board of cosmotology faces a lawsuit over its current licensing laws... sabrina: the justice institute has filed the lawsuit on the behalf of two hair- braiders. the plaintiffs claim the state's current licensing laws require them to finish more than two thousand hours of cosmotology school to run an african hair braiding business. the problem is they don't even teach this kind of hair braiding at these schools. these women say the technique has been passed down through generations and it allows them to keep that heritage alive. feel like i'm a cirminal. sabrina: there are some serious there are some serious penalties for violating these licensing laws....including a thousand dollar fine per infraction. elias: a search of fuel pumps at casey's general stores has turned up skimmers... caseys says it found one of the devices at fuel pumps in nebraska, and then launched a company-wide search of all pumps and found more devices. here's a list of some of those locations that were involved. it's unclear if any credit card information was compromised, but customers who used cards at the locations earlier this month should look month should look over their accounts. elias: and more phone

three recalls affecting thousands of vehicles in north america. a safety recall for potential fuel tank issues affects roughly 129-thousand vehicles...includi ng 20-09 and 20-10 models of the ford edge and lincoln m-k-x. 72 more vehicles are subject to another safety recall for a possible trailer brake controller issue. ford's third recall affects roughly 19- hundred 20-16 ford mustangs. the company says restraint parts in those cars may have been damaged during shipping. ford says it isn't aware of any accidents or injuries related to the recalls. elias: and finally....want to make some furry-friends today...just open your uber app... uber kittens will deliver the tiny felines on- demand today... a 30-dollar snuggle fee gets you 15 minutes with the kittens. uber is offering the service to help support participating shelters...in des moines its the animal rescue league.

bill, beginning in april. elias: the des moines water works board approved a 10 percent rate hike this week. the board says the reason for the increase is because people aren't using as much water... due to more- efficient water appliances. the increase not only affects people in des moines, but also ankeny, urbandale, and west des moines those are customers whose water is purchased through the board. " keith denner, president of professional property management: "it happens fairly frequently because their cost of operation goes up and the cost of electricity goes up and they need to pass on their costs. we understand it." elias: the board has also said the increase in rates was due to normal increases, not because of the increased amount of time that the nitrate system has been run throughout the year. sabrina: meanwhile, another iowa city's police force prepares to go on camera... sabrina: a private donation has now allowed waukee police to equip officers

eighteen officers will add the cameras to their equipment, and use them in their investigations. in total it took all 14 thousand dollars to purchase these cameras, data and storage officials say the video won't be available to the public unless its subpeonaed in court and the officers will be deciding what interactions are kept.
