let's get into the top five this morning.... sabrina: wednesday's storms left their mark on the metro... power was out in the area of fleur drive in des moines for at least three hours. stop signs were used in lieu of traffic lights. many trees were torn down in neighborhoods. this shed flew up over two backyards and slammed into a tree. debris was left scattered all over the yard. elias: in the number two spot this morning... elias: today, 210 iowans will speak their minds about the proposed bakken pipeline project. the iowa utilities board will hold a hearing at the boone county fairgrounds beginning at 9 a- m. local five will be at the event....look for our live team coverage to start this morning on local five news midday sabrina: the third thing

walk out the door... sabrina: authorities are investigating a death at the home on 11th avenue southeast in altoona. police were called to the house wednesday, where they found a woman's body inside. the iowa d-c-i has been called in to assist in the investigation. an autopsy is scheduled for today... elias: number four... elias: in ohio, authorities have confirmed that nine people died in tuesday's plane crash. the aircraft burst into flame after clipping a telephone line and smashing into an apartment building. the victims include the pilot, co-pilot, and seven employees of a florida- based real- estate developer... the cause of the crash is still under investigation, but it is believed to have been mechanical. sabrina: and finally in the top five... sabrina: as the holiday season approaches, prepare to pay a bit more for the big meals. due the to avian flu outbreak that hit iowa, the price of turkey has gone up 30 to 40 percent. of the 72 farms that had to depopulate, 35 were commercial turkey farms.

the price increase and short supply is also a concern the price increase and short supply is also a concern for food banks that rely on turkey donations. elias: new this morning...people in the gladbrook- reinbeck area will eventually decide whether to dissolve their school district elias: a tighter budget and declining enrollment has forced school leaders to prepare in case the district does close. the district closed a school building in gladbrook already....moving all students to two schools in reinbeck this fall. last night, a "dissolution commission" met to listen to the responses from neighboring districts which would absorb the students. a peitition to dissolve the district received more than 20- percent of the required voter signatures to put the measure to a vote. mathis said the time-frame for a vote would still take many months, likely well in 2016 before people in the district decide its future. sabrina: the strong winds aren't the only reason to take exta precautions take exta precautions while driving this morning. sabrina: the iowa department of natural resources is warning drivers to be extra watchful for deer this week as breeding season nears and deer become more active. the d-n-r even tweeted out this warning wednesday....dee r are bginning to move...remember hashtag don't veer for deer. a recent state farm insurance report ranked iowa the third most likely state for drivers to hit a deer. authorities say deer have already played a role in several crashes across the midwest. elias:

"you're watching good morning iowa in hd. we are iowa." elias: on your money now elias: in order to pull off the world's biggest beer merger, anheuser-busch in-bev is preparing to sell off some of its iconic brands. as part of a planned takeover of s-a- b-miller, a-b in- bev says it would sell some major beer brands to rival molson coors. but the coors deal won't go through unless the proposed mega-merger is first approved by anti-trust regulators. selling off some key american assets is seen as a move to appease justice department officials who will have to approve the merger. elias: and finally, break out the crayons....crayol a is branching out into the rapidly-growing adult-coloring book market. the iconic company is now offering five adult coloring books. they're also selling colored pencils and markers with fine tips that will accommodate the intricate designs. and how hot is this trend right now?

tornado."" elias: some other damage -- this truck belonging to the national guard was pushed into a fence at the des moines international airport. sabrina: there will be crowds at the boone county fairgrounds today....but this won't be for any county fair or rodeo. sabrina: 210 people will get the chance to voice their thoughts on the proposed bakken pipeline to the iowa utilities board today. the pipeline, if approved, would cut across iowa...carrying crude oil from north dakota to illinois. the hearing is at the boone county fairgrounds community building from 9 a-m to 5 p-m. the speakers will be split evenly between those for the project and those against... local five will have live team coverage from the hearing starting this morning on local five news midday. elias: we should get more details

today on a death investigation in altoona... elias: wednesday evening police were called to a home on eleventh avenue southeast... once officers arrived on scene, they found a woman dead inside of the home. the iowa d-c-i have been called in to assist in the investigation. the home remained an active crime scene for most of the evening... police have not released many detials at this time, but should have more information pending an autopsy that is scheduled for today sabrina: a reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in a robbery case... it happened at an i-wireless store on grand avenue on the night of october 24th. police say this woman is the robber. she's described as heavy set and between 20 and 30 years old. if you have any information, contact polk county crime stoppers at 515- 223-1400. you can also submit your tip anonymously you can also submit your tip anonymously online. elias: new this morning...an awards ceremony will recognize the

short supply, prices are going up and for the needy, that may mean cutting something else off the dinner list. with the number of turkeys donated each year variable, the food banks are worried this may hit close to home.. ""families in need really home..
