observers in des moines who reported seeing a tornado at the wednesday are in danger of losing these guys are 24/7 gathering all while keeping their eyes on the skies. f-a-a wants to with computers to cut costs. touched down across iowa- one of the largest and latest outbreaks on record. elias: an e-f 3 made a diagonal path through the town of stratford- home to around 800 people. a decade later, those people are looking back. local 5's claire powell has their story. " wind, color of the sky, temp was different" "lots of time, with wild weather horses get crazy, but they never even bothered" on saturday november 12th, 2005, an ef3 tornado barreled down on the town of stratford. "she knew something was wrong, i was standing in the driveway waiting when she got there" in the middle of it all- dorris andersen rushed to pick up her grandson steven as the tornado took aim. "should i stop? i didn't. had i stopped i wouldn't be here" "debris all over, it was hard to get through town" as it passed, firemens radios rattled. "got there and got

story....hundred s made the trip to the boone county fairgrounds thursday.. sabrina: they all wanted to be on hand for the official public hearing for the bakken oil pipeline project.. more than 200 people were allowed to speak before the iowa utilities board all sharing their thoughts about the project that would cut diagnolly across the state.. the room was packed with people-- some there to speak, some just to listen. some had concerns: environmental, land ownership. most comments were very passionate, one guy was even musical. " the vast majority of landowners affected by this support the project and have given voluntary easements to use the land. corporate power. rick perry. koch brohters. terry branstad. big oil. they win. we lose. people and planet loses. there are those that argue that jobs will be created by the pipeline for other temproary and will provide work until the project is complete. i think it's important to take a wider view. a two year project will yield thousands of

jobs. pipeline pipeline just say no. dirty oil sabrina: those opposed say the efforts should be put should be put energy and not fossil fuel. elias: not all that attendance were from iowa...some travelled hundreds of miles to be a part of the hearing. hundreds of of the hearing. some of them workers who really want work. has more. around this room many here because a pipeline project to them means supporting their family. "it means a lot, you know. that's how i put school and buy clothes." "construction workers are used the

"it's their livelyhood, it's how they make their money and raise thier family." "and for iowa workers, a pipleline through this state means they get to stay close to home." "when a family gets that, when they are in the construction it helps the kids and the kids see their parents leave home to go to work and not come every weekend. you know, whenver time is allowing depending on how far they are elias: the pipeline decision now the pipeline decision now remains in the hands of the iowa utilities board.. these three people seen here. thursday was the only day that the public could comment on the issue directly to them. on monday, the process continues with an evidentiary hearing. after

that, the three member board can have a meeting to discuss their decision or they can just send out a written notice. there is no time table for when that has to happen. sabrina: clean up and repairs will continue today on the area hit by wednesday's severe weather. sabrina: the national weather service has now confirmed five twisters touched down in iowa. it tore up farms and other buildings and flipped vehicles on roads. here's a look at where they hit.... an ef-2 near plano-- that was the strongest storm. two ef-one tornadoes in knoxville and in mahaska county. and an ef-0 in guthrie county and at the des moines airport, sabrina: governor terry branstad and iowa homeland security and emergency management director mark schouten spent thursday surveying the damage in knoxville. they headed to the walmart there and walked around neighborhoods to get a first- hand look on all the damage. knoxville had

winds up to 110 miles per hour. there was one injury reported in this storm. elias: meanwhile, the weather observers in des moines who reported seeing a tornado at the airport wednesday are in danger of losing their jobs. these guys are at the airport 24/7 gathering all sorts of data while keeping their eyes on the skies. this is a crucial job while air traffic controllers communicate with pilots on the runways. but they say the f-a-a wants to communicate with pilots on the runways. but they say the f-a-a wants to replace them with computers to cut costs. the job could also be added on to the duties of the controllers. ""we see that as very problematic because the controllers are there to control the planes and they're already busy enough." rededication ceremony in clinton saturday... sabrina: the ceremony will commemorate the completed renovation of the clinton readiness center. representatives from local, state, and federal government will join iowa national guard leadership for the ceremony. the clinton readiness center was originally built in 1986... a renovation of the center began in 20-14 and provides additional space and upgrades the infrastructure. the public has been invited to the ceremony which begins at ten a-m tomorrow morning. elias: at ((time check)) we'll take a short break, but coming up, time to check out new releases hitting theaters. sabrina: we'll get a look at what's
