but city leaders believe the facelift is more indicative of the way the city is moving. local 5's jacob pecklo has more. jacob: natural sound of snow shovel moving geoff warmouth has been busy running his hardware store in waukee for two decades now. natural sound: "measure, right?" but as the city has grows, he's found the demands at the shop are a little bit different. geoff warmouth, waukee hardware owner: "i used to know everybody that came through that door by name, but now i don't know everybody that comes through that door." warmouth says the school districts have been a big reason that people have been moving to the area, and why it's been expanding so quickly. and that's brought plenty of changes, like a new logo unveiled tuesday night. geoff warmouth, waukee hardware owner: "everything needs to be readdressed over time. just because something was good 20 years ago, doesn't mean it's going to meet the criteria of today." mayor bill peard says that new image points out the city's rich history, as well as its plans for future development. bill peard, waukee mayor: "i don't think waukee is going to lose its community spirit because that community spirit isn't about bricks and mortar, it's about the people and the community." but there's one big change to the roadways coming, that's expected to help attract shops to come to town.

waukee broke ground on the kettlestone project last october, and now in just a matter of weeks, people will be accessing the first divergent diamond in the state of iowa. it's why many residents are eagerly looking forward to getting a more direct connection to west des moines and interstate 80. adam velde, waukee resident: "i think it's going to help bring people to waukee and it's gonna beautify that back there and just make it a nice place for families to hang out." and for warmouth, he says he'll miss the old logo, but it's important to move the city forward. geoff warmouth, waukee hardware owner: "it's going to be painful in the short- term growing pains part of it, but overall i think it's healthy for the community." jack: there's still one big place you won't see the new logo, at least now for a little while. that's the waukee water tower. at this point, city leaders aren't sure when they'll be able to change that one up. stephanie: the city of waukee spent more than three years, looking at possibilities for a new logo. now, city officials are looking at further developing their comprehensive

jon: the words pella and losing aren't two that generally go together in football.. that's why it's hard to believe last year was the first time the dutch ever won a state title. it took 26 trips to the playoffs for before it happened. and their 27th post season appearance could land them with back to back championships. " since 2013's loss to washington in the quarterfinals of the 3a playoffs-- pella has been unbeatable. they've won 27 straight games-- a streak that speaks for itself. "i've never really thought about 27 straight victories until people start talking about it. i've been trying to ignore it to be quite honest." there's one game left for the 27 seniors on pella's roster-- they're already the most decorated in school history-- but if they can get their 28th consecutive win-- they'd leave behind something bigger with their second 3a state title in a row. "us seniors always talk about kind of leaving a legacy and we truly feel that we've been able to deal out some good leadership. we love to win i feel like our team has lots of winners on it winning the state championship
10:22 pm
would be the best thing ever for us." it's one final game in a dutch uniform for a lot of these guys. but there's no time for dwelling on that. "i'm bummed about it but i can't let that get me down right now my excitement is overwhelming being bummed out right now and i wouldn't have done it with any other group of guys. tomorrow night's game comes with a little pressure-- so pella has to stay focused on the task at hand. "you always have a target on your back especially winning from last year but we handle that really well." it's a district 7 rivalry-- norwalk and pella-- electric. mean you saw our dome and even when norwalk game against sb-l their crowd was they called us out so you know we're ready for the challenge." as for head coach jay mckinstrey-- he knows he doesn't need to say much for his players to be ready. "i don't think i have to do anything to get you're playing for the state championship it's really just more of a, greatful, thankful, and tell the kids that

appreciate them. it's time to go out and try and finish it." the 3a championship kicks off at 7:06 pm from the dome. jon: the weather saturday doesn't look all that great for the hawkeyes game against purdue. maybe that's why the game has a couple thousand seats left? but really? come on people this game could clinch the first big west title in program history. alex giaimo tells us more from iowa city. "with a win on saturday iowa clinches a big ten west division title an objective they've been targeting since day one of preseason. (cj beathard) yea it means a lot one of our goals in the offseason was to get to this point and right now we've put ourselves in a spot to get to be at this point but you know we are just trying to improve each week. (tevaun smith) it would be a great thing for us, especially as a senior, you know just finishing out the season in such a great way. it would be good for a lot of us and, of course, good for the rest of the players
10:24 pm
(kirk ferentz) it's mathematical i mean if we win then we are in i guess right. not to get cute but that's, that's the way it is so that's a really good thing. (alex giaimo) this week the head coach is taking a step back from his one game at a time policy to remind his players that clinching the west division isn't the end because they still have one extremely important game left in lincoln, nebraska on black friday. (kirk ferentz) but we are not done yet so i mean we'll acknowledge that privately and then we are going to have to move fast towards that next game because it's going to come quick for us and they already got their sights on us so we are going to have some time to make up for. (jordan canzeri) it's exactly what we wanted to do since the offseason and that's our goal but for us obviously we are focusing one game at a time. but coach ferentz has mentioned that this is the game we need to focus on get this one done and if we win this one then we clinch but we don't want to ease up after that. (giaimo) not looking past purdue. but looking forward to finishing out strong in nebraska. with your hawkeye headquarters report in iowa city, alex giaimo. "
