news midday in hd with amanda krenz and we are iowas most accurate forecast. this is local 5 midday. we are iowa (music sting)" amanda: this saturday is a big day for the iowa hawkeyes. a win against purdue means they win the big ten west division title. but after recent terror scares in france and germany... the university isn't taking any chances. local 5's alex giamo shares the changes in security you can expect at the game. (alex giaimo) due to recent events the university of iowa has tightened its security measures at kinnick stadium for the iowa- purdue game on saturday. fans should expect more extensive screening before, during and after the game. the new policy is modeled after the nfl- which places restrictions on purses and handbags. fans will be prohibited from bringing backpacks, purses or handbags into the stadium. bags that are
11:13 am
permitted will need to be clear plastic, vinyl or pvc that do not exceed 14"-14 inches. one-gallon clear plastic or ziploc bags are also permitted along with small clutch bags that do not exceed 4.5-6.5 inches. the clear bag policy is not tied to any specific threat but reflects modifications made by other venues in light of recent international events. (dave visin) we have no threat in iowa but we are looking at the best practices across the nation and we want to follow the best practices for the abundance of caution for our fans. (alex giaimo) fans should also expect an increased police presence at saturday's game which starts at 11.am. so you might want to give yourself some extra time to get your seat before kickoff. in iowa city with your hawkeye headquarters report, alex giaimo, local 5 news, we are iowa. all: (reax)
