i-80 opens today, meaning a shift in traffic for drivers in west des moines and waukee. the new grand prairie parkway is a diamond shaped intersection. it's the first of it's kind here in iowa, and one of just 19 in the nation. the idea is that the new traffic pattern will help people getting on and off the interstate. sabrina: new this morning....a racist remark carved into a door sparks an investigation at the university of iowa. sabrina: the remark was found carved into a bathroom door in the spence laboratories for psychology building monday. in an email, president bruce harreld told the university community the act was offensive and would not be tolerated. school staff quickly sanded down the door so that the remark could no longer be seen. the investigation comes at a time where concerns have been raised at campuses across the country over racism and hate speech. elias: the bakken pipeline project got some good

old bryon howard and 31- year-old heather belieu dead. right now they do have a person of interest. they want to interview 35- year-old michael jjohn wanchanic authorities removed two children from a home monday, after the discovery of two people dead inside the house. a 9-1-1 call of someone being shot, sent des moines police to the home. neighbors say a couple in their mid to late 50's lived in the house. they reportedly were always throwing parties and had people coming in and out of the home. neighbors say they heard them arguing regularly, sometimes taking their fights outside. however it didn't appear physical. " stepped up to her a couple times, like he was going to [hit her], i don't know if it was because he was outside he decided not to, but it seemed like he could be a violent person." sabrina: we still don't know who the 911 caller was or how the children are related to the people found dead. but neighbors say they're confused about the kids because they've never seen kids near the property. those children --

a traffic alert this morning for drivers in west des moines and waukee. sabrina: a new interchange off i-80 opens today the new grand prairie parkway is a diamond shaped intersection. it's the first of it's kind here in iowa, and one of just 19 in the nation. local 5 got a chance to navigate the diamond-shaped intersection monday. the idea is that the new traffic pattern will help people getting on and off the interstate. but the main goal is to eliminate one big issue. "people aren't used to crossing over onto the opposite side of the road...the reason why you do that in the divergent diamond is to avoid one conflict...when you get up here, all you have to do is turn left and you get right onto the interstate going east bound." elias: so how does this new intersection
