a bomb threat in newton leads to police taking two people into custody. officers searched a home on first avenue monday afternoon and found a device they think could be a bomb. the discovery forced an evacuation of nearby homes in the area, and the state fire marshal's office was called in to assist. the device was rendered safe and authorities took david and jennifer kelso into custody. charges are pending. sabrina: in the number two spot this morning... sabrina: a high school student who collapsed during basketball practice last week has died... sixteen year old drew jacobson was a player at woodward- granger high school. his family asked for thoughts and prayers from the community, but got an outpouring of support, including assistance in paying off medical and funeral expenses. people who knew the teen said he gave 110 percent of his effort to everything in life. sabrina: the third thing you need to know before you walk out the door... sabrina: hundreds of iowans crowded inside the state capitol monday to try and find answers to the questions they have about the state's new medicaid program. a growing

been the january first deadline, just 24 days away. the federal government still has to give it's approval before any of this can happen. sabrina: number four... sabrina: california authorities say the muslim couple that shot and killed 14 people and injured more than a dozen more last week had been radicalized for some time. fbi officials say the investigation is still very active and going in new directions as they try to find out who helped radicalize and possibly fund the couple. sabrina: and finally in the top five... sabrina: top five... sabrina: donald trump's response to last week's shooting in san bernardino has put him at the center of controversy. the republican presidential candidate has called for a shutdown of all muslims entering the united states. his plan has drawn criticism from both political parties, and his fellow candidates. sabrina: new this morning, the iowa d-c-i joins a suspicious death investigation in

sabrina: the investigation began with the discovery of a decomposed body near the county line with madison county. authorities say a hunter found the body of a female in her thirsties in a farm pond off of redwood avenue last week. an autopsy has since been conducted by the state medical examiner. due to the ongoing investigation, the cause and manner of death have not been released at this time. local five will continue to follow this story and bring you any new details as they are made available. sabrina: residents in a monroe county town will need to begin boiling there water this morning... sabrina: a planned boil advisory goes into effect beginning today for the city of lovilla. city workers will begin completion of a water main project later this morning, requiring the city's water supply to be shut down for a few hours. the project is the result of a leaking underground storage tank. officials expect the advisory to remain in place unti two sets of bacteria samples can be completed showing that the

ten loss to michigan state were cheered up sunday afternoon as the hawks were invited to the granddaddy of them all. people sometimes forget, the rose bowl is the bowl all others judge themselves by and is the game that coined the term "bowl game." the hawkeyes will make their first trip to pasadena since 1991...and describe just what makes this game so special... "you think about the rose bowl, you think about tradition and you always play a tremendous opponent and that certainly will be the case this year. it is one of those games. i remember jimmy stewart being the grand marshall and i'm going way back now and everything about it is really significant and special for a lot of different reasons, a lot of different parties, not just football fans as well. but to take it all in the stadium, the scenery outside the stadium all the stuff that goes on, it's fantastic. so i'm really excited about going back and i don't wanna make it about me, but i think i speak for everyone in our program, it's going to be a great experience." sabrina an ohio man is refusing to back down... even though local officials have ordered him to remove his very unique nativity scene. angelette levy has the story: " last year, when dixon set up his zombie nativity, he had a mission. it was supposed to advertise the haunted house he sets up, "13 rooms of doom". this year, he brought it back because it was such a hit - at least with some people like blaise harsch. but a few found it offensive. sycamore township told jasen dixon last year to take it down because he didn't have a permit. so this year, dixon says he worked with township officials when he applied. a day after he submitted the

coffee and tea, stumptown coffee roasters and caribou coffee. j-a-b holding also owns jimmy choo and perfume maker coty. sabrina: meanwhile, g-e has scrapped a multi-billion dollar deal to sell its home appliance business to swedish company electrolux. the deal had been opposed by u-s regulators due to competition concerns. the company says it will continue to run the business as it looks for other options. the department of justice had sued to stop the deal in july, saying it would have eliminated a major competitor and left electrolux and whirlpool as the only big cooking appliance companies in the u.s. sabrina: oil prices are nearing pre- great recession levels. the price for a barrel of oil fell five percent monday to just below 38- dollars. that's the second-lowest level since early 2009. just a year-and- a-half ago, oil was selling at nearly 108 dollars a barrel.

joined the crowds in demanding answers, but say they're not getting any. a big concern is the january first deadline to change over the state's medicaid system to four private out of state companies. the contact information is on your screen. sabrina: now to some sad news out of woodward... a high school student... fighting for his life after he collapsed at basketball practice last week has died. doctors say his heart stopped and after days in the hospital... they couldn't save him. now the community is coming forward in a big way to help... family of 16 year old drew jacobson only asked for thoughts and prayers from the community when he had to be lifeflighted to the hospital... but that hasn't stopped hundreds of people coming forward to help pay off medical and funeral expenses... a go fund me in his name has raised 20 thousand dollars in less than a day. people who knew the teen said he gave 110 percent of his effort to everything in life. "drew would get disapointed when the team would lose a game or something like that, his dad would remind them that 'drew if you gave your best and did your best you can hold your head up and be proud because that's all anyone can ask of you. thats what drew did fighting in the hospital, he gave his best and we are all proud of him."
