"local 5 news midday in hd starts now. we are iowa" elias: good morning and thanks for joining us for local 5 news midday...i'm elias johnson. elias: we're expecting new details this hour on an accident at hubbell avenue last night that killed a pedestrian trying to cross the street. it happened around 5-30 tuesday evening...at east 42nd and hubbell avenue. des moines police say the pedestrian was crossing hubbell when a car hit the man. the victim was pronounced dead on scene. police say they had to shut down the area for several hours to gather more evidence, and the crash is still under investigation. elias: meanwhile -- in ames, police continue to piece together monday's hit and run that left an i-s-u student dead. 18 year old emmalee jacobs of urbana was died at the hospital after being hit by a car on the i-s-u campus. she was found lying in the road at the intersection of

lincoln way. the site has now become a memorial for jacobs with candles and messages written with chalk. police still looking for the person responsible. "we believe th person felt the impact, knew what happened, based on her injuries. they were significant enough they had to feel the impact." elias: ames police have narrowed down the time window of the hit and run to between 7:04 and 7:05 am monday they ask anyone who may have information to come forward. elias:: over in the center point- urbana area, the community mourns the loss of the teen, who had just graduated high school in may. her family and friends describing jacobs as a very bright, very smart young woman. brea love spoke with those who knew her, and shares how the community is coping with the tragic loss. to do that requires a permitted. a hearing will be held this evening, allowing an opportunity for public comments. the meeting inside the office building. email or send in comments to the iowa d-n-r about the pipeline permit. elias: commuters driving in dallas county should expect a detour the dallas management closed a section of highway 169 just north of adel last night. drivers should expect a detour taking them west out of town on highway six. the detour then heads north on p-58, before connecting to highway 44 and back to highway 169. so be sure to watch for the signs. elias: speaking of road closures, flooding has kept parts of some roads around the metro closed.

" you're watching local 5 news midday in hd. we are iowa" elias: good morning and thanks for joining us for local 5 news midday...i'm elias johnson. elias: we have new details now on a crash that killed a pedestrian last night. elias: it happened around 5-30 tuesday evening...at east 42nd and hubbell avenue. police say 61 year old anthony pascasio was hit by a car and killed while trying to cross the street there. the driver was identified as a 19-year-old des moines man. police say they had to shut down the area for several hours to gather more evidence. the crash is still under investigation. elias: court documents are revealing more details about two bodies found in rural union county. the bodies discovered earlier this month, one in a pond, the other near a house...but both were dead for months before being found.

court documents, jerry dillinger shot and killed loretta dillinger and the other person, on september 22nd. agents say jerry got into a confrontation with the two, killed them and disposed of their bodies. friends of loretta say her and jerry dated off and on and were in an abusive relationship. they said she may have been seeing someone new when the shooting happened. "ihe was a controlling monster and was abusive" elias: jerry dillinger is being held in the union county jail on two counts of first degree murder. the identity of the second body has not been released. elias: the proposed bakken pipeline will be the focus of a public meeting tonight. elias: along with approval from the iowa utilities board, the project will also need a permit from the iowa department of natural resources.
