in a statement, it's committed to students. it says, quote: "when concerns or issues regarding student conduct arise, ankeny schools administrators investigate then follow board of education, based the commenting on the students involved. west des moines have determined what will be cut as they try compensate for a drop in enrollment... the district will be cutting 13 items. one is the foreign language program for first through third graders. also cut, the des moines art center scholarships and 3-year-old general education preschool offered by the district. all these cuts will save west des moines schools nearly 600-thousand dollars. the district originally had a goal of saving 800-thousand. it's not clear if more cuts are ahead. sabrina: new this morning, a name change and new logo for a local crime stoppers organization. sabrina: polk county crime stoppers will now be operating under a new name....crime stoppers of

the organization will maintain the same principals and efforts it has in the past, but is expanding to assist law enforcement in the communities surrounding the non-profit assists law incentives for crime tips....with coming from donations. the change effective on january first. iowa's safe at home program are now being accepted by the state's office... the program helps victims of domestic state officials expect around 150 people to sign up in the first half of the year... "this program offers a way out. it's not the answer, there's other initiatives that we will continue to work on, but it is, as you indicated, another tool in the tool box to start to make a difference for individuals that are suffering." season. the jolly holiday lights were shut down due to flooding a little over a week ago. organizers were concerned they wouldn't be able to reach enough kids during the holidays. local hospitals started a push on social media, with the hashtag bring the jolly, and presented a check to the foundation. because of those efforts, make-a-wish now has nearly $400- thousand dollars. and the search for a texas teen... sabrina: authorities are looking for ethan couch, the teen who was spared jail time for a deadly drunk driving accident thanks to the infamous affluenza defense. there's a 5- thousand dollar reward in the case. his mother has officially been declared a "missing person" as well. couch was 16 when he killed four people while driving drunk. but using the "affluenza" defense, his lawyers essentially argued he was too spoiled to know the consequences of his actions. sabrina: las vegas authorities continue searching for a motive behind a driver's decision to take her car onto a sidewalk...hitting people and killing one. sunday night, 24 lakeisha holloway veered onto the side walk, accelerating into the crowd. investigators alcohol was involved, but whether under the influence of drugs. she's now facing at least one count of murder, and possibly several counts of attempted murder. sabrina: and an entire school district

sabrina: jolly holiday lights is one of the biggest fundraisers for make a wish iowa all year long. but this year, it was cut short.... .... as floodwaters drenched the displays and doused fundraising hopes for the season. it had all the makings of a disaster. but that's when some great community leaders stepped in. local 5's jacob peklo has their story. the outline still remains for the jolly holiday lights in des moines...a season cut short by flooding. but the lights are the only thing darkened by those waters. chris voggesser, make a wish iowa ceo: "at a time of year where you want something good

happen, we were able to make something bad for us turn it into something wonderful." the annual show was supposed to continue until the new year... expected to pull in nearly $200-thousand dollars for the make a wish foundation. several groups turned that setback into a personal challenge...including iowa clinic ceo ed brown. ed brown, iowa clinic ceo: "we thought it was a great cause, something that we could all get behind as health care leaders. we had no idea what it would culminate into." it became a true community effort, one that far exceeded the boundaries of the metro, getting donations from all over the country. chris voggesser, make a wish iowa ceo: "we've said all along that the money we raise needs to go to the kids and that's where it's going to go." local businesses, classrooms, and neighbors contributed to the cause. on monday, three local hospitals gave their gifts to ceo chris voggesser, chipping in $60- thousand in just over a week's time. all adding up to nearly $400,000 for make a wish. chris voggesser, make a wish ceo: "i can't say
