by water. >> and a mcdonald's with water up to the windows. residents are being told to be ready to evacuate at a moment's notice, and many already have because it is not over yet. more now fm abc's megan hughes. >> reporter: along the rising rivers an army of volunteers armed with sandbags are fighting a tough foe. >> the water has come up really fast. >> reporter: parts of the town of kimmswick near st. louis already flooded. in union, missouri, a mcdonald's nenearly subrged. a gas station under water. rising rivers causing this sewage treatment plant to exceed capacity. and many rivers haven't crested yet. water is already touching the steel on this bridge on the historic route 66. more than 500 roads are already closed. the missouri governor is calling in the national guard. >> we're dealing with an incredible amount of water coming at you here. you're talking about almost ten more vertical feet of moving water. >> reporter: flooding is being

billionaire's comments. >> what about the attacks donald trump has made against your family? >> how are you? good to see you. >> no response from the democratic front-runner while greeting reporters. her final stop. after the town hall she returned to new york for new year's. i want to get to one more final political note. republican george pataki has ended his campaign. the former three-term governor of new york never really gained traction in the crowded gop field, and he actually had trouble raising money and never appeared on the main stage during any of the republican debates. rit now a dozen republicans remain in the field for president. the chicago police officer charged with the murder of a black teenager has pleaded not guilty. jason van dyke faces six counts of first degree murder for the fatal shooting of laquan mcdonald in 2014. his defense attorney says van dyke wants to tell his side of what happened so he's not seen as a cold-blooded killer. chicago mayor rahm emanuel is under enormous pressure because of this case. protesters seen here called for
