off the top of his head that are lies and someone has to got to say he is a pathological liar." new fire in the fight for the white house. mary bruce, abc news, washington. nikki: this week marks the first time former president bill clinton will begin campaigning for his wife. he hits the trail in new hampshire tomorrow. nikki: a death investigation tonight in north west iowa. yesterday afternoon, nashua police and the iowa state patrol found a 56-year- his home. investigators the subject who has been identified but no en filed. not been released yet. still under investigation. in southeast protestors and milita men have taken over a federal building... and are threatening violence in support of what they say are rancher rights. the protesters also occupied part of a national wildlife refugee 60 miles away from the federal building

the family is convicted of arson after what they say was a controlled burn that got out of hand on their ranch. prosecutors however say the family started the 130-acre fire to cover up poaching. while the protests remained peaceful... some fear they may get violent. (05:00 did they pay the price in my opinion, and many others, yes they did. for them to be given a further more severe sentence, a lot of people are like that doesn't seem right. however, there are proper channels to go through and bringing in a militant view, saying we're going to rise up, that's just not right.) nikki: the man urging patriot groups to 'rise up' over this dispute plans to stay in town until the county steps in and offers a safe haven for the two ranchers. the county sheriff has urged residents of the town to stay away from the protests for their own safety. the family convicted of arson will have to report to federal prison on monday.

a child was rushed to the hospital after sledding accident in western iowa. it happened in sioux city yesterday afternoon . details are still scarce...but the child was reportedly taken from the grand view park to the hospital by an ambulance. people who witnessed what happened said the child may have been seriously injured... "they pulled the sled away and my son said the child wasn't moving and the police, ambulance and fire department they attendet to the person laying done and pulled them out on a stretcher." nikki: we'll will bring you more on this developing story...as information becomes available. nikki: funeral arrangements are being made for a man killed during a snowmobile ride friday... the marshall county sheriffs office says 25 year old travis vandewalle was riding a snowmobile when it overturned onto him. the vehicle overturned onto him while he was attempting to climb a drift... it happened in field northeast of legrand near abbott avenue at about 6:30 p.m. vandewalle was found by a concerned

after he didn't return when expected... the investigation remains open pending results of the marshall county medical examiner. nikki: good news for anyone who raises -- or eats -- turkeys, chickens and other poultry. a ban on public poultry exhibits is lifting. nikki: the exhibit ban was started back in may after a outbreak of the avian flu. the flu killed millions of birds and halted all county and state fair exhibits, including auctions. but now, things are turning around. all infected sites have been deemed "flu free" and now the agriculture secretary says all exhibits are back on for the new year including the iowa state fair, auctions and swap meets. " "everybody is optiimisitic. the resilency to get back into business, iowans its certanly good to be around folks like that... on to 2016"" nikki: iowa was hit the hardest among midwestern states, seeing 77 poultry operations

disease. 31 million chickens and turkeys were infected and had to be euthanized. federal and state agencies paid out 400 million dollars to clean up and sanitize farms. and another 400 million dollars was lost in producer income this year because of the bird flu. we'll have more on this story tonight at ten in this week's farm to family. nikki/lam: 100 years ago, iowa lawmakers led the way for the prohibition era. iowa had a statewide alcohol sales ban before it became illegal nationwide... but as we step into 20- 16,... distileries and breweries in iowa are are booming... alcohol sales are up. local 5's jared ransom introduces us to one distillery seeing that boost. "new years eve gives everyone at mississippi river distilling company a chance to catch their breath after quite the year. "we just celebrated our fifth anniversary a couple weeks ago, and now our products are shipping out to 26 different states. we also export to new zealand, australia and german. so, we're an international business now," owner ryan burchett said. sales at the distillery have jumped around 20% from a year ago,

alcohol sales this year in iowa. those numbers reflect a big change in the alcohol industry. brands like budweiser and coors are getting replaced by spirits with local ties. "we've carved a niche for ourselves across the nation because we have a story to tell, because our products are truly from grain to glass from beginning to end. it means something to a consumer in dallas, texas to minneapolis, minnesota just like it does here," burchett said. the distillery also sees a big boost in numbers when they come out with a new product, like they did named after chick and tom show. "they already like our gin, our vodka, our whiskey, then what new flavors can we bring in? we always try to tap into something local," burchett said. they are set for an even bigger 2016. they're preparing to ship products out to new york and california, the biggest markets for spirit sales. burchett says they're ready to keep growing, but not too big to overshadow their iowa roots. "it's surpassed every expectation and continues to grow. we're just looking forward to watch, not just ourselves, but the industry and everything in leclaire continue to grow. it's

jordan: on december 5th, the drake men were 4-3. since, the bulldogs have lost 5 of 6, including their valley opener versus wichita state... they now find themselves 5-9 on the year. drake returned home this afternoon, hosting illinois state... and it was the toddler trot at the knapp center. this little guy is cruising to a victory, but oh no he stops just before the finish line. and lane 17 steals the win! hoops action now, drake up 10 at halftime. 2nd half, illinois state starts the half on a 11-2 run, devaugh akoon- purcell with the 360 slam! redbirds take the lead. but drake takes it right back, with the reverse then check out the pass by graham woodward to kale abrahamson. kale had a quiet night, with just 5 points.
