severe impact of an open border." stephanie: here in iowa, it's definitely caucus season. as the saying goes, now is the time of year when you can't stand in one place in iowa without running in to a presidential candidate. that was the case today. republicans ted cruz, john kasich, marco rubio, and mike huckabee all put in face time with caucus-goers today, and hillary clinton kicked off her two-day swing through the state as well. this is a map of all the towns that'll be paid a visit by a candidate just this week! stops include boone, west des moines, davenport, and others. jack: most iowans know of our first in the nation status when it comes to the caucuses. but are they interested enought to show up to their precinct on caucus night? local five stopped by the smokey row cafe in des moines and asked several voters if they pland to attend february first. most of them said they were knowledgable about the presidential

weren't interested enough to make caucus night a top priority. whether they were working, in college, or just waiting for the field to narrow, many eligible voters won't be at their precincts. life in prison. he's the 19-year old who beat a 97 year-old des moines man to death with a spatula last july, after breaking into his home. he also left the man's wife injured and bleeding on the floor. makuey plead not guilty by reason of insanity. stephanie/1shot and-police now have a suspect for the saturday evening shooting at a mcdonald's near drake university. antwain montrell robinson has been arrested for carrying weapons and for a felony in possession of a firearm. police say robinson was in a vehicle matching the description of the suspect's, leading the police on a short pursuit and tossing a gun from the window, after reportedly shooting another man in the leg as he walked into the forest avenue mcdonald's. jack investigators may be getting closer tonight to knowing more about des moines' latest homicide. jack/1shot: there is now a warrant out for a man who may be a killer. two weeks ago, there was a double shooting at brookside apartments on des moines' south side. 36 year old tacono conner, of des moines, was shot dead. 37 year old ami stolki was also

police have now issued a "material witness warrant" for 60 year-old alf clark of des moines. police are asking for your help. if you have any information on clark's location, contact the des moines police department or crime stoppers of central iowa. the information is on your screen. jack: ft. dodge cops are still trying to figure out what happened in a shooting early sunday morning. at 4 :20 in the morning, a bunch of shots were fired off near crossroads mall. no one was hit. police arrested one young man for disorderly conduct and interference with official acts. but they're still looking for the shooter. police are asking for your help. if you know anything, contact fort dodge police department or crime stoppers at the numbers on your screen. stephanie: turning now to what's making national headlines... president obama is taking on gun control - and he's using the power of the pen. stephanie: and instead of waiting on take action, he plans to do it on

says over the next several days, his administration will be rolling out his new plan, which he says are common sense steps to save lives. president obama is meeting with attorney general loretta lynch at the white house.. this on the eve of his big announcement.. bypassing congress to take action on what he calls an "epidemic of gun violence" in america.. sot - president obama "although, we have to be very clear, this is not going to solve every crime in the country. it's not going to prevent every mass shooting. it's not going to keep every gun out of the hand of a criminal. it will potentially save live in this country." on tuesday.. the president is expected to take executive actions that his administration believes will make it more difficult for the mentally ill.. criminals and terrorists to get guns.. president obama said he is making sure.. his measures will not violate the second amendment.. the white house wants to tighten background checks and prevent those on the no fly list from buying guns..

off to a great start. the local iowa animal rescue league is offering a program that lets you walk or run dogs. it's called paws on pavement. it's for any a-r-l volunteer who wants to help out animals in need while also getting their exercise. "this also gives them opportunities to meet portential adoptors outside of a kennel setting kennels are very stressful we try to make them as comfortable as possible so getting them out to meet the people in a more normal setting is great for everybody " jack: if you'd like to sign up for the a-r-l volunteer program, you need to attend a volunteer orientation. it's the second saturday and third thursday of the month. then you get a second training session to learn more about handling the dogs, and then go for your first walk or run! stephanie: jordan joins us now and already a #1 versus #2 matchup on the now and already a #1 versus #2 matchup on the
