bitter cold air has been locked over iowa since saturday and we're not going to break that pattern for a couple more days. today it's going to be a partly cloudy day with a light wind and a high near 9 degrees. overnight tonight we're going to see the cloud cover increase and we'll stay dry as lows fall near 1 degree. tuesday we are looking at another cold day with snow possible. we will start seeing snow in the morning falling in western iowa and work through central and southern iowa through the day. accumulations will likely be around 2 to 3 inches here in the metro, so likely not a huge snowfall amount but timing will probably impact the morning and evening commutes. after that we're going to warm back into the mid 20s through friday. thursday we may see a bit of snow in the morning in southern iowa but at the moment it looks like we'll see low accumulations. temperatures finally look to warm back into the 30s by the weekend so let's just keep hoping they stick around towards next week! elias: let's get into the

weekend, ames became the battlezone fo a lego war! teams from across the state came together to compete in the iowa first lego league championship at the isu college of engineering.. local 5 photographer ryan davidson gives us a look inside the competiton to see how competitiors stacked up. "3 2 1 lego we're dong junior first lego league which is for 6-9 year old children they're building lego models they're dong research we want to show them that when you're an engineer or a scientist or a mathmatician it's a really creative area so we're hoping by showing them that today they go on and think about that for their future they've never done this in a championship setting before so it's just putting them at ease letting them know we're all here to help them out from table 21 260 the lego league lions it's a critical age for

cool you can do it through fun things that you play with at home like legos which is a wonderful toy but there's a lot of mathmatical inclanation in it there's a lot of design behind it well i like the robot runs a lot and i also like core values the truck has the yellow box oh the robot got stuck it's driving on top of the truck you're having to interact as a team you're having to problem solve you're having to think on your feet you're having to manage time those are the things these teams are having to do just show so much enthuasism not just with legos but being there with friends and doing everything they want to do it's really about getting the kids together having a safe space for them providing resouces and then letting the kids go at it " elias: at ((time check))
