house fire hitting many in the small boxholm. and the tragic story is now other central iowa stepping forward to help. : amber sorenson young children riley, autumn and brayden were they were their home and not able to get out in time. the dad, john sorenson, was at work at the time is the only family survived. this tragedy is leaving even strangers heartbroken... and wanting to help. local fives nikki davidson is here with the latest. nikki: right jack... a family member of the victims tells me.... that the husband and father, john sorenson is obviously very distraught at this time. they're only concern now is to get funeral arrangements made... but hundreds of people are coming forward to help give them some comfort in the future... and its not just about money... people are also donating their time. in the town of

and now an update on the massive fire in fort dodge. it started this afternoon at a mult-use building near downtown ft. dodge, and is still smoldering with crews on scene now. the building, on the corner of central and south 15th street, houses c and s products, a storage facility, and a batting cage for fort dodge kids. here are the dramatic pictures of this big fire. the building is a total loss, and one firefighter has minor injuries. the cold weather made it even harder than usual to put this one out. "be pretty cognizant of the conditions that our troops are in, making sure that we keep them warm and keep their blood flowing, keep them fed, we've got some food coming for them so we'll be able to bring them in and out and increase the frequency with which they go to the rehabilitation. during his condition of the state last week and revisted the subject today. legal experts say african americans make up three percent population, but state's prison population. "i ask you to join with ideals of freedom, justice and opportunity for all. " jack: keys to fixing the racial disparity in the iowa prisons includes giving offenders a chance a rehabilitation before they're put behind bars. and when the justice system does impose judgement, the governor wants to make sure they're punishing the right person and that race does not play a role. jack: we have new details in a double homicide case from december. jack: the man who's accused of shooting and killing a des moines couple while they were asleep says he's not guilty. michael wanchanic submitted the plea on friday, and also asked
