across the state, so basically pretty standard january weather in iowa. snow will fall heaviest in southwest iowa during the morning and through the afternoon with about 2 to 3 inches possible. des moines will likely see snow closer to the afternoon, but our accumulations will likely be fafaly low with about 0.5 to 1.5" possible. all snow will end this evening as it leaves southern iowa and we'll be left with a few slick roads and another fairly cold night with lows in the low teens. wednesday is going to be a fairly cloudy day, but we'll be dry and highs should be a bit more mild as they climb into the mid 20s. thursday should be another fairly nice day with highs in the upper 20s, but overcast skies will stick around. the weekend is starting to look great with highs finally climbing back into the 30s and no snow until next monday! elias:

elias: new this morning...a first of its kind dental clinic opens up today.. elias: later today, scavo high school will celebrate opening iowa's first ever school-based dental clinic. the clinic is in partnership with delta dental of iowa and the mid- iowa health foundation... both of which provided grants to fund the project. the new clinic will be named in honor of nolden gentry...and provides full- service to patients. a ceremonial "floss-cutting" will be held for the dental clinic at four this afternoon. elias: at ((time check)) we'll take a short break, with lots more ahead here on good morning iowa. coming up, a look at how a texas library is using a growing trend

elias: in the small community of boxholm, neighbors are dealing with the tragic loss of a mom and her three kids in sunday's house fire. elias: the tragic story is now spreading to other communities in central iowa who are stepping forward to help. : amber sorenson : amber sorenson and her three young children riley, autumn and brayden were killed after being trapped inside their home. the dad, john sorenson, was at work at the time of the fire... and is the only family member who survived. this tragedy is leaving even strangers heartbroken... and wanting to help... so far more than 36 thousand dollars has been raised to help pay expenses... even some small businesses are pledging to give percentages of their profits on some items to help the family.
