with jordan: what a turnaround ankeny has made on the hardwood. a year after winning just 10 games, the hawks have already matched that total, knocking off #7 dowling.. tonight it was another top 10 battle for the hawks... as they welcomed in iowa commit jordan bohannon and #8 linn mar. 1st quarter, hawks jump out in front.. tyler maschoff spots up and drains the triple. then off the connor riordan miss, the ball comes right to trystan cummins who drives, gets the hoop and the hack. ankeny up 17-10 after one. 2nd quarter, more hawks... tanner rinker with the sinker for three! then chris mcleod on the drive, count the bucket and the foul. hawks up 15. but here comes bohannon right before halftime. spots up and nails the triple, one of 5 on the night for him then bohannon thru three defenders for the bucket and one.

is gonna like that... bohannon finished with 37 on the night. this one would go to overtime, linn mar outscores ankeny 12-2, they win it 78-68. jordan: hilton magic strikes again! monday night, iowa state showed that the 1-3 start in the big 12 wasn't who this team was... as the cyclones become the third team in the state of iowa to knock off a top-ranked squad... this time it was oklahoma going home losers, about 8 hours after becomming the new #1! "hilton coliseum was electric with the students back in school! cyclones up 6 at the break... 2nd half, isu would build a 10 point lead. before the sooners answered back. dante buford's three from jack trice caps off an 8-0 run. "they hit us, they tied it. i think they took the lead, by 1 or maybe 2. and then they responded again." and who else to respond but georges niang. his three here caps off a 7-0 run as the clones go ahead by 8 with 6 to play! nats but that's when buddy hield showed why he's one of the best in america. the sooners go on an 11-0 run, 9 of which came from hield. "i mean, the numbers speak for themselves. buddy hield is, in my mind a first team all- american for sure."

but like coach prohm said, isu responded again... jameel mckay with the board and the putback. ties it up at 70. then it's monte morris coming up clutch with the 3. "the 3 in the corner was huge. it was a money shot, put us up 3 i think, 73-70. sooners would punch right back as isaiah cousins drops in the triple to knot it at 77. but that's when morris, who missed the game winning shot at oklahoma earlier this year stepped up! "i didn't even think about that til you just said it. that's right. you know he's got that little pull up kind of step back shot that he's kind of perfected and i guess he had about 7 points in the last minute and a half didn't he?" lead to 2, but then isu reaches into its old school playbook! "nobody's on the ball, instead of fighting the bring a guy out of you can run the baseline you can make it ended up working kind of a double whammy for us." "it's just something we've worked out day in and day out with special situations and we noticed they didn't put a man on the ball and we tried to run that play and cousins reached over the line

got the technical foul." "i didn't know what happened, i was scarred to death that i screwed up the whole game for a second." a matt thomas free throw put the clones up 3 with the ball. two more free throws by abdel nader help seal the 82-77 win. ""after we hit rock bottom, we came together and realized where i have flaws, monte has to pick me up, where monte has flaws, jameel has to pick him up and down through the line. and i think we've done that so far and finally put two halves together and i think that's a big reason by coach challenging us." "it was sweet. people like to count us out, but inside our locker room we don't really count ourselves out. we know how good we are, we just have to come out and show it every night and we don't blame people for playing the way we do, because we haven't showed that we can do it every night, but once we start to show that we can do it every night, we'll be alright." "do you think you're back in the big 12 race after this?" "i don't think we ever left!." next up for isu, a road trip to face
