weekend. today is going to be a cloudy and windy day with highs in the upper 20s and wind chills in the lower 20s and teens. overnight tonight it will be very cold with a low in the mid to upper teens, but at least the winds will die down. wednesday is looking windy but warm with a high near 35 and patches of sun especially during the morning hours. every day this week will keep getting warmer and warmer until we get to friday where we rocket into the mid 40s! saturday is also looking absolutely gorgeous with highs topping into the mid to upper 40s. sunday we will likely see temps fall a bit with a small chance for a rain/snow mix entering northern iowa. a larger weather system is looming towards the beginning of next week so we will be tracking it carefully as caucuses are next monday.

explaining why socialist shouldn't be a bad label. martin o'malley, who has been a distant third, used his time to try and invigorate supporters, and show that he is a viable option. elias: and finally in the top five... elias: a texas grand jury has cleared planned parenthood of wrongdoing over a series of controversial undercover videos. the videos appeared to suggest planned parenthood illegally sold fetal tissue and organs. the jury instead indicted the two anti-abortion activists behind the staged videos that sparked the controversy. elias: the topic of gun control is getting attention at the iowa statehouse....wit h a new bill circulating. elias: the measure would give children under the age of 14 the right to use a handgun with their parents permission and supervison this is the third year a pair of young girls... 10 and 12 year old meredith and natalie gibson ...have led the effort to get the law changed. the girls say they like to shoot for sport and hobby just like it was ballet or basketball ... this year they have their own bill for the

change called the youth safety and parental rights act. they presented their story at a judiciary sub committee monday afternoon... and found a room split with suppport and opposition. "it boils down to this is a common sense approach. " "children under the age of 14 don't have the same kind of judgement as children 16, 17,18 might have " elias: the next step for the youth safety and parental rights act is for it to be voted on in a house subcommittee... if it passes it will go to a full committee. last year under the omnibus gun bill... it passed in the house three times. elias: two big issues on the minds of iowa lawmakers...the state's upcoming medicaid privatization, and education funding... the director of iowa's medicaid program updated a senate committee monday on improvements they've made so the state can switch over to managed care. one concern has been about the call centers for people on medicaid who have

walk around the block turns into a marathon finish for a dog in alabama elias: lots of pictures from the elkmont half- marathon in alabama are being shared...mainly because of ludivine the bloodhound. her owners had let her out for a bathroom break....but she ended up at the starting line... and without a human or leash, ran the entire 13-point-one- miles. her owner... didn't even know about her celebrity dog until a friend called and filled her in. ludivine even finished seventh...and was presented a finisher's medal for her accomplishment.. before going
