good morning and thanks for joining us for local 5 news midday...i'm elias johnson. elias: our top story...the latest on the death of star hawkeye athlete tyler sash... elias: after sash's death in september, his family donated his brain to science... the football star was found inside of his oskaloosa home...his death attributed to an accidental mixture of two painkillers. researchers looked for signs of chronic traumatic encephalopathy or c-t-e....a degenerative brain disease cauased by repeated trauma to the head that's been found in dozens of former nfl players. elias: according to a new york times diagnosed sash and even more the disease had advanced to a seen in someone two of the doctors that conducted the exam, said the severity of cte was on par with former nfl star junior seau who comitted suicide of 43. we sat down with a doctor from mercy medical center to learn more about c-t-e, which can cause

150 students from iowa and nebraska. the group were stuck in pennsylvania while on their way to the "march for life" rally in washington, d.c. but, what they did to pass the time is now going viral. deborah souverain has the story. "i really didn't think it would get this big," said father patrick behm natpop -- video of church mass singing... hundreds of the faithful stranded on the side of a pennsylvania highway with no where to go... so what would they do?... well, hold an impromptu mass, of course. "they needed to get out and what better way to get them out and moving around a little bit than to have mass," said father behm. father patrick behm of le mars, led the outdoor service for the group which was stranded for a total of 22 hours. a make-shift alter...crafted from snow....and hundreds of the devout.. turning this frozen roadway....into a highway to heaven of sorts.
