elias: a live look from the local five road warrior vehicle this morning...as we keep you updated on the latest conditions around the metro... iowans have been bracing for a significant snowfall today, with road crews on the ready to make sure street elias: wx) sam: weather adlib: the first major snow weather adlib: the first major snow storm and blizzard is finally upon us and we are definitely in for a lot of snow and dangerous driving conditions. light snow in the very early morning hours will turn in to very heavy snow through the morning commute and into the early afternoon hours, especially in west and northern iowa. on top of heavy snow amounts there will be a large amount of wind keeping visibility low

drifting especially country roads. during the morning hours des moines will see mostly snow but we will be mixing that snow with especially on the with the heaviest snow falling north of the overtake southern and central iowa in the afternoon cutting us off from much of the snow and rain but still allowing for lighter blowing snow. rise above freezing when the final wave 5pm tonight we will see across central iowa and much lighter snow snow should exit the state to the east nearly completely by tomorrow morning but we will be left with a very windy and cold day. speaking of the winds, it will be windy all day but especially this evening where sustained speeds will be in the 20 to 30 mph range with gusts up to 40 mph. the rest of the fairly nice with highs climbing back into the 30s and near 40 by sunday.

let's get into the other big story this morning....a very close race in the iowa caucus... sabrina: this morning the hillary clinton declared a win for the democratic frontrunner... as the numbers night, it looked virtual tie for clinton and her sanders. clinton held a lead that was less than a percent...much different than the republican caucus results. here's a look at the numbers....which were still being tallied until just over an hour ago... local five political analyst brent roske spoke with a sanders campaign director about one of the problems holding up results from coming in last night. " its a problem with

last night's caucuses... elias: just a couple hours ago, hillary clinton's campaign declared victory in the iowa caucus....after spending much of the night in a virtual tie with top rival bernie sanders.. sabrina: as caucus results were tallied, clinton's lead was so small, many called it a race too close to project. the pair will see each other again later this week as they take part in a democratic town hall thursday night... here's a look at the numbers from the iowa caucuses...showi ng just how close it was between the top two... elias: despite no clear winner last
