conditions are not the only thing being affected by the incoming storm today... nikki: as schools announce closings ....today's snowfall has also prompted a delay for some special elections. secretary of state paul pate announced that the polls in these 17 counties will not open at seven a-m like planned. due to the weather, polling sites in these counties will open up at noon. the secretary of state's office says they will send out another notice if they need to delay anymore county elections. nikki: also developing now...a car versus pedestrian accident leaves one man dead... nikki: west des moines police say the man was hit while trying to cross the street near a pair of caucus sites. police were called out to the 7-thousand block of ashworth road, near saint francis church, just before 7 o'clock last night,

stepped into the roadway, as a truck was passing by. the area doesn't have any crosswalks or signals for pedestrians. authorities say the driver thought he'd hit a deer, and pulled over to the side of the road. officer jason lichty, west des moines police dept.
