center hotel. elias: in the number two spot this morning... elias: athletes, athletic directors, and parents aren't just talking about the action on the mat... a proposed senate bill is also getting attention during the wrestling tournament. the legislation would call for an athletic trainer be present at every varsity home team's game involving collision sports. one part of the bill that has some school leaders concern, no funding to help support the requirement. sabrina: the third thing you need to know before you walk out the door... sabrina: as congress and the president debate over filling the vacancy left by supreme court justice antonin scalia...a republican voice has come out on the side of president obama... retired supreme court justice sandra day o'connor says he should name scalia's replacement. o'connor, the first female appointed to the court, was the nominee of president ronald reagan. elias: number four... elias: west des moines police have made an arrest in a hit and run case from august of last year...

old daulton holly from tennessee was discovered on raccoon river drive. 37 year-old ronald hauser from van meter turned himself in to police...and faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and o-w-i. sabrina: and finally in the top five... sabrina: during the last day of his trip to mexico, pope francis held mass in the border city of juarez. the pointiff began by praying and giving blessing at the american border, where a group of migrants living in the u-s had gathered to be part of the event. pope francis called the forced migration of immigrants a humanitarian crisis. elias: new this morning, some residents in denison are outraged over offensive images allegedly created by the town's top cop. elias: an investigation by the mayor's office found racist and pornographic pictures from police chief john emswiler were transmitted to a shared city computer drive. the denison city attorney confirmed the lewd images

private computer, but wasn't aware how they ended up on technology that was seen by co- workers. angry residents took to the streets wednesday to protest the police chief's actions. " --sot--(ray ohl/fmr. denison police officer): "public opinion. what he's got on his computer is not right and i think any reasonable person would agree. basically trying to get it out there saying he this is what's going on here this is the reason the things are they way they are and it needs to change."" elias: the mayor has reportedly taken disciplinary action against the police chief. sabrina: authorities release new details about some new year's day burglaries. sabrina: the hamilton and webster county sheriff's offices have been involved in a joint investigation.,... the case involves the burglary of january first burglary of rungo's bar in stratford... and the burglary stratford... and the burglary of the iron saddle saloon in dayton on that same day. investigators released images from the crime, hoping to identify the suspect... both sheriff's offices received numerous tips in the case, and have now named matthew lee moore of west des moines as the suspect.

warmer temperatures going into the weekend.. it's quite likely you may see some more potholes popping up around the metro. elias: and a new survey from triple-a shows that potholes caused a whopping fifteen-billion dollars in damage to vehicles ovewr the past five years... another survey from state farm shows that repairs on damaged cars can run from three-to seven hundred dollars on average. sabrina: so what can you do to try and prevent it from happening from your car? well first, take roads you know well...the familiarity will help you avoid potholes also, make sure to travel well- lit roads at night....so you can see the surface. slow down, and give yourself a chance to react. and if you hit one, make sure to inspect your car for damage....ignorin g changes to how the car drives could let it get worse. elias: and if you see
