the urbandale high school police say the driver blew through a stop sign and was going way over the speed limit. he's now in the hospital. and people who live near the crash site say speed is nothing new here. local 5's claire powell has more. " " this is whats left-- after the silver car you see here, failed to stop at this 66th street stop sign--- slamming into this southbound suv. both came to rest in this front yard. the driver of the suv luckily walked away, while the other driver was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. urbandale police say the only thing they're sure of right now is that speed was definitely a factor. "according to teh witness who talked to cops, that car was going a very high rate of speed, much higher than the 25 posted... plus he had a stop sign he didnt obey" claire: "north to south from aurora all the way to douglas, theres not one stop sign. not even a speed bump. with no stopping and speeding this neighborhood says theyre not surprised at all. some say theyve been waiting for an accident like this to happen" "no stop sign, this is

signs" anna mcnaughton has five kids . she says they rarely play in the front yard because theres too many cars easily doubling the 25 mile per hour speed limit. "we have those signs that say children at play, teenagers dont they'll race no matter what" urbandale police say they have been watching speeding in this area, but cant stop everyone. edwards. this is local 5 news at 5, we are iowa." jack/2ram: sanctuary cities are a hot topic, and that's what brought thousands of people in wisconsin to the state capitol today. stephanie: wisconsin restaurants, coffee shops, and other businesses around the state shut down so their employees could attend the rally. the protesters are rallying against a bill that would ban sanctuary cities for immigrants living in the u-s illegally. they're also protesting a bill which would stall milwaukee's efforts to provide local photo id's for people who have a hard time getting i-d's like illegal immigrants. despite the protest, the state assembly did pass the bill this afternoon. jack/2ram president obama is headed somewhere new -- he's making a historic trip to cuba next month. stephanie: it's the first time in more than 80 years a us president will visit the island nation while in office. abc's elizabeth hur is in new york with details.
