jack/2shot good evening and welcome to local 5 news, home of we are iowa dot com. i'm jack miller. stephanie/2shot and i'm stephanie angleson. now that the weather's gotten a little warmer, you've probably found a few potholes with your car. they can definitely be a pain, and it takes a relentless effort to keep them under control. stephanie: local five's jacob peklo joins us now with more on pothole patrol. jacob: it's feeling a little bit more like spring, but that doesn't mean that the full-blown repairs are underway on the roadways. just this week, the city of west patched up more than one hundred since tuesday, they went through six tons but the real work is still to come. natural sound: "yeah, as the temperatures went up, the job of jude cigrand got a little bit more difficult to predict. jude cigrand, des as workers, being out it's nice to get the sunshine, but it can be upcoming spring." across the metro are gearing up for pothole season. natural sound of

the iowa economic development authority awarded 16 million dollars in incentives to dow-dupont, and the city of johnston kicked in a million dollars more. dow-dupont says no matter what, about 10 percent of jobs are being trimmed globally as part of the streamlining of the merger. " " see some more loss of jobs in short term. but over long term we believe they'll do research activities here in johnston, employment numbers will go back up again, possibly higher than what we have currently" " jack: iowa leaders are speaking out about dupont's decision, with congressman steve king saying, quote, this news is more than disappointing for our great state and for all the hard working men and women who were laid off as a result of dow- dupont's decision." stephanie: the waiting game continues for the iowa utilities board decision on the bakken pipeline. today, the board resumed its discussions about any and all conditions several concerned groups have expressed about the pipeline. some believe the

approval, though plenty of questions remain. ed fallon, anti-pipeline: "well, it's hard to read huser. she's asking a lot of good questions. she's really dominating the conversation and i respect her for digging into some of these issues a little more than the others, but it's still hard to know which way it's going to go." chad carter, pro- pipeline: "i believe with the 80 percent chad carter, pro- pipeline: "i believe with the 80 percent voluntary easement that they've got with the landowners in iowa, that has to say a lot, and three other states have approved the permits." stephanie: the board will meet again on march 9th and 10th. it's possible they could announce its decision at either one of those meetings. stay with local five for the latest on the pipeline. jack: round 3 in the presidential race is happening tomorrow. jack: nevada and south carolina voters will choose their candidates. democrats are caucusing in nevada, where the race is very close between bernie sanders and hillary clinton. in south carolina, republican voters will choose their nominee tomorrow in a primary, with donald trump and ted cruz still

jon: welcome back. can you believe we're just 3 weeks away from the boys basketball state tournament? most teams in 4a only have one game left before we start district play. the dowling maroons coming off of an upset win over hoover-- ames trying to bounce back after falling to roosevelt. the two meeting tonight. third quarter we go little cyclones work it inside to chuol chuol who gets it to go. it's just a one point game. but at the other end brendan dougherty with the three-- buries it-- dowling building third quarter. inside to 6 foot the kiss off the window and in. then dougherty showing he can traffic gets stuffed once but the put back is good to go. dowling up 8 in the fourth

championships. jordan: that's right jon-- and it may be the toughest day because wrestlers have to get through not one but two matches today. this morning it was quarterfinals-- this evening-- it was all about the semis. let's check out tonight's action from 3a and 2a. first up in 3a, the feel good story. indianola's kobey pritchard at 106 lost his leg to cancer, but he met his match tonight as valley's nick oldham wins 4-2. he'll face waukee's kyle biscoglia for the title. 126, sep's nathan lendt rolls past dowling's jake watters for the 20-5 tech fall. he'll face #1 triston lara of fort dodge tomorrow. 145, defending champ michael zachary will get a chance to repeat with the 10-4 decision. even adding a dab at the end. 170, #1 marcus coleman of ames takes down #3 josh edel of marshalltown 7-4. 220, ethan anderson makes it 3 for 3, getting his 3rd pin of the tournament, 1:57 in. he's one of a few go for a repeat tomorrow.
