sabrina: let's get into the top five this morning.... sabrina: we begin in the courtroom, where jury selection begins in a four-year- old case... alexander fazzino is charged with his wife's 2012 death in boone. prosecutors say he hit and killed emily fazzino in the family's bath tub. the trial was delayed five times since then. local 5 will be in weinishiek county later this week to cover the trial. elias: in the number two spot this morning... elias: in the defamaition suit against bill cosby, the comedian's wife is scheduled to give her desposition give her desposition today. the couple have been fighting to stop the lawsuit. eight women sued cosby claiming he protrayed them as liars after

sexually assaulting them. they are among the 50 women who have made such claims, which cosby has denied. sabrina: the third thing you need to know before you walk out the door... sabrina: a bill requiring drivers to pay more attention to cyclists on iowa's roadways has survived the legislature's first funnel week. the measure would force vehicles to change lanes to safely pass a bike. its designed to prevent accidents and injuries. such laws are on the books of 37 other states. sabrina: elias: number four... elias: the republican presidential race seems to be narrowing into a three-way race after saturday's south carolina primary. donald trump got a second win in the nomination process, with ted cruz and marco rubio fighting for second. jeb bush announced he would suspend his campaing...which leaves ben carson and john kasich challenging the top three contenders. nevada hillary clinton scored state's caucus, doubts in her

sabrina: and finally in the top five... sabrina: the hawkeye state could be on the verge of a possible dentist shortage. university of iowa researchers say that the number of dentists in the state that are nearing retirment has doubled between 19-97 and 20-13. data shows that during that time, the number of iowa dentists aged 55 and older went from 23 percent to 42 percent. the study also says that rural areas would be most likely to notice the shortage. elias: across the state, iowans are working to resolve an ongoing issue in the foster care system... elias: groups such as the iowa d-h-s, juvenile courts services, and iowa kids net are coming together to deal with the disproportionat e number of children of color in the foster care system. foster parents such as monique clark have taken center stage in finding a solution. she currently has three children of her own, along with one adopted child and two

others in trying to create change. " elias: iowa kids net says the uneven number of minority children in the foster care system did improve from 2014 to 2015. and they want to keep that progress moving forward. sabrina: the warmer temperatures aren't the only sign that winter is winding down in iowa... saturday marked the deadline to remove any man-made ice sheds off of the state waters, before getting fined by the d-n- r. overall, the thickness of the ice has stayed the same... but the strength of the ice has deteroriated.... officials say if the ice near the shoreline is breaking down, it's usually a sign that it's all

year old fazzino case enters the courtroom this morning. today marks the start of jury selection ... alexander fazzino is charged with his wife's 2012 death in boone. prosecutors say he hit and killed emily fazzino in the family's bath tub. the trial was delayed five times since then. local 5 will be in weinishiek county later this week to cover the trial. stay with us for the latest developments. elias: and twom men arrested for a decade old crime in ottumwa will also be in court today... in january, christopher yenger and zachary dye were arrested and charged with two counts of felony murder. they are accused of intentionallys starting a house fire that killed two people in 2006. nathan messer and seth anderson died of smoke inhilation. originially the cause of the fire was undetermined. police reopened the case in january after learning new information. checking in with the statehouse....iow a cyclists could see a new law in their favor... sabrina: a bill focused on road safety for bicycles has survived the first funnel week of the legislative session. the bill would require drivers to change lanes in order to safely pass a bike. that driver wouldn't be allowed to return to the right side of the road until safely passing the cyclist. the idea is to prevent accidents and injuries. patrick wilson, des moines resident: "i mean it is a safety concern. it's concerning to ride down the road in fear of other people coming up behind you and hitting you from behind." sabrina: 37 other states currently have similar laws on the books. currently the fine for improperly passing a cyclist is $250 dollars. sabrina: today's moral monday meeting will be focusing on gun safety in the hawkeye

elias:: we're in that gap between winter and spring where a lot of us... just want to go on vacation. that's especially true for one fourteen year old girl in manson... sabrina: and theres a bittersweet reason her community wants to help check a lot of places off her travel bucketlist... local five's nikki davidson has her story in this week's iowans to know.,.. grand canyon.... those are crossed off the list... a sightseeing bucket list... that's different than any other. 4:04:20 we're trying to get the most important things done now. despite all these vacations..... most of the traveling 14 year old alexis has done... is to places like this (snaps) to hospitals, and doctors offices. she's got a rare condition.... 4:08:27 after years of testing, doctors and travel and until we finally have answers. neuropathy ... which means when she was younger she lost nearly 60 percent of her hearing...and had to get cocoulear implants... now shes facing another crippling battle... significant vision loss. 3:55:41 doctors say between 16-18 she'll be considered legally blind. alexis is dealing with the diagnosis... by making a list. 3:41:15 i'm trying to go to places before i can't see anymore. and at the top?

3:45:20 it"s just kind of fun to go places. her parents hope to make her dreams come true, but a trip like that... 4:01:06 we're trying to figure out whats feasible, for a family of five it's not the easiest to pick up and go. and alexis isn't the type to wait for a miracle... so she's gotten busy. she's braiding... baking... and stringing into action...creating jewerly... dog toys and dog treats to fund her dream trip. (bead tray) with her condition it's not always easy, her careful art requires the use of all of her senses... 4:11:26 her senses are not where they are supposed to be...
