the number of iowa dentists aged 55 and older went from 23 percent to 42 percent. the study also says that rural areas would be most likely to notice the shortage. elias: across the state, iowans are working to resolve an ongoing issue in the foster care system... elias: groups such as the iowa d-h-s, juvenile courts services, and iowa kids net are coming together to deal with the disproportionat e number of children of color in the foster care system. foster parents such as monique clark have taken center stage in finding a solution. she currently has three children of her own, along with one adopted child and two foster children. clark has joined others in trying to create change. "

kind of systemic changes takes a long time"> elias: iowa kids net says the uneven number of minority children in the foster care system did improve from 2014 to 2015. and they want to keep that progress moving forward. sabrina: the warmer temperatures aren't the only sign that winter is winding down in iowa... saturday marked the deadline to remove any man-made ice sheds off of the state waters, before getting fined by the d-n- r. overall, the thickness of the ice has stayed the same... but the strength of the ice has deteroriated.... officials say if the ice near the shoreline is breaking down, it's usually a sign that it's all weakening. the number of place to ice fish are quickly dwindling in central iowa. matt bruner, state conservation officer: "when you get down to our area here in central iowa, it's clear that the ice is deteriorated enough that we don't have ice fishermen out. we don't recommend that people being out ice

where a lot of us... just want to go on vacation. that's especially true for one fourteen year old girl in manson... sabrina: and theres a bittersweet reason her community wants to help check a lot of places off her travel bucketlist... local five's nikki davidson has her story in this week's iowans to know.,.. (hotel looks cool) when alexis meyer's family plans their yearly summer trip... they go all in.
