" local 5 news at 10 in hd starts now. we are iowa" stephanie/2shot good evening. welcome to local 5 news, home of we are iowa dot com. i'm stephanie angleson. jack/2shot and i'm jack miller. jack: another side of emily fazzino was revealed inside the winneshiek courtroom local 5 has been following the case in northern iowa the started tuesday. stephanie: emily was ofund dead inside the family bathtub in boone in 2012. her husband, alexander fazzino, was charged with first degree murder, but he says emily overdosed stephanie: yesterday's testimony was emotional as emily fazzinos sister, cousin and brother in law detailed the night she died. today emilys father submitted his written testimony to

health issues made it impossible for him to be on the stand or even in the courtroom. local 5's claire powell tells us in tonight's big story that didnt stop him from giving the jury a look at a side of emily- only he and his wife ever saw. " " this mornings testimony began with richard beckwith- emilys father. his statement with prosecution read by a county official due to beckwiths doctors advising against giving his testimony in person. beckwith told attorneys they loved alex like a son and knew alex had concerns with emilys use of prescription medications. "i think alex cared about her and that she was taking too much. i think he genuienly cared" beckwith stated he became aware of emily's abuse of prescription anxiety drugs in 2011 after seeing her under the influence with slurred speech. "emily was noticiably effected. i dotn know if i knew what she was affected by, trouble with speaking. unsteady ? oh yeah" beckwith said emily went through a 3 day detox at his house to get clean in late 2011 after her detox and secrecy about the

"i started seeing the understand, i think he may have been thinking affiar" then while on a business trip to florida, he said he got strange call from emily the night of her death. it's something he says foreshadowed that nights events. "she sounded was wrong. i said are no, no im not afraid. i said hunny, if somethings wrong you take the kids to moms and if not, you stay at the house. i wish i wouldnt have said that. she would still be alive" jack: also on the stand for the state today was the medical examiner who did the initial autopsy on emily in 2012. she described emily's injuries and how she doesn't believe one fall into a bathtub is the only thing

" "its hard for me to imagine how a person can fall and have injury on both sides of the head, back and top thats not consistent with that description"" jack: the prosecution asked the doctor about the four bruises and other injuries to emilys body. she initially ruled emilys death undetermined, but at the end of her three hour testimony today, she said she would lean toward homicide over any other cause. stephanie: new at 10 - it's a group that caught our eye ... an unlikely mix teaming up for an important cause. stephanie: a local recording artist, some des moines schools and the des moines police department are getting creative to stop the violence. local five's jacob peklo joins us now with more. jacob? jacob: stephanie, will keeps has an incredible story. he had a rough childhood. as a teen, he was left for dead on the streets of chicago...beaten up by a group of about 30 people. but now his musical gifts are being used to bring people together to tackle the issues of violence. natural sound of
