the finals. james: tonight we are going to remain very mild and windy with a mix of most clear and partly cloudy skies as lows fall into the 60s and then 50s for most of the night. a cold front sunday mid morning will move on through and limit our daytime highs to the upper 50s. a northwest wind with speeds between 20 and 30 mph will make it very unpleasant to be outside despite the mild temperatures. we may see a quick shower move through northern iowa with a small chance a few sprinkles to a quick shower may make it down to des moines in the middle of the day, but most of us should stay dry. monday a return of strong southwest winds and morning sunshine over our dry ground will help us accelerate our temperatures into the upper 50s and likely 60 degrees here in the metro. those warm temps will unfortunately be short lived as another cold front slams through the state giving us another precipitation chance monday night with colder temperatures following. as of now it looks like we'll see rain late monday afternoon through the evening trying to turn into snow with perhaps a trace to 1" of snow possible. it's important to remember the ground is still very warm so it's likely very little of the snow will stick around even if it falls. we generally stay around or above average
