starts now. we are iowa" jack: developing now-- developing now-- jack/2shot: grand view university in des moines has dismissed a star wrestler, andrew long, from the team for violating a code of conduct contract. stephanie: it's strange timing, because last night here at local five we aired a lengthy piece about long's unlikely addition to the vikings' roster. he had previously wrestled for iowa state and penn state, but was kicked off because of legal problems off the mat. while at penn state, he was accused of raping a woman. he pleaded guilty to indecent assault and served nine months in prison. but the grand view coach agreed to give him another chance. but with some strict rules about his behavior. today we've learned he violated those. local five's elias johnson picks up our coverage in the digital media center. elias johnson what a difference a weekend can make - before andrew long ever laced up his wrestling shoes and put on his viking singlet on - school administrators gave andrew long a third chance with restrictions. he wasn't allowed to live on

offender - and he was required to sign and abide by a code of conduct that held him to a high standard head coach nick mitchell outlined that contract recently when we spoke about andrews admission process to the college elias there's been a process involved, there are some expectations you have that are pretty straight forward. what were some of the things you had to do to make sure everybody was happy, what was signed, what does he understand the expectations are? nick mtichell - head coach there was a lot of people, i mean our campus counselor, our vice president for student life. all these people had time to meet with him, talk to him. together we kind of came up with a contract and sign and it really was what we call a last chance agreement and its really nothing totally unique to what i expect out of most of the wrestlers but its just something for his that its relay clear what the expectations are and you stick to this

andrew wasn't arrested - but regardless, the code on conduct clearly stated he was not to consume alcohol while a student at grand view. he violated that agreement saturday evening. nick mitchell said he was made aware of the drinking and when confronted, andrew admitted to the violation. the vikings will continue their quest for a fifth straight national title this weekend at the national tournament in topeka kansas without their top ranked wrestler andrew long. - he was also set to graduate after this semester. jack/lam: it was a controversial

university to let andrew long in, in the first place. and we're hearing from a lot of viewers reacting after the story that aired last night. most are concerned about long's victim. jack: one viewer on facebook says he should not have been allowed back on campus, especially to wrestle again. rebecca jochems says he is giving one of the best sports out there a bad name. emily berch, writing to us on twitter says -- a sexual assualt happens just under every two minutes in the u- s, we should give victims a voice. stephanie/1shot: before airing long's story last night, we had also reached out to the iowa coalition against sexual assailt, which said no matter what happened with long on the mat, there will always be a victim that shouldn't be forgotten in this story. they would like to remind everyone there are a number of professionals across iowa who have been trained to help survivors of sexual assault and trauma. the iowa sexual abuse hotline offers confidential and immediate phone counseling and referrals 24/7. you can call them at 1-800-284- 7821.

we continue our coverage of the alexander fazzino trial. stephanie/ram: fazzino was arrested for first degree murder in 2013. after his wife, emily, was found dead in the couples bathroom in 2012. this morning, the prosecution rested its case. they ended with two d-c-i agents who noted emily did not overdose the day she died. the defense took over this afternoon, bringing the fazzino's house keeper and family to the stand. alex fazzinos mother, aunt and sister all testified they saw emily under the influence

"slurring speech, disoriented, she was kind of staggering and i was so concerned i wanted to take her ot the hospital- did she go? she would not go" stephanie: the trial continues more defense take the stand. we'll have a complete wrap- up from the courtroom tonight at 6. jack/1shot: also in court today -- the man who crashed his car into a pole on ingersoll, killing a young mother. troy mure junior, was charged with vehicular homicide and operating while intoxicated. he waived his jury trial and today faces his bench trial in court. it happened back in november when mure junior crashed his car at the intersection of 35th street and ingersoll in des moines, wrapping it around a power pole. the passenger, scalicity boyd, died at the scene.

iowa's most accurate forecast with chief meteorologist brad edwards. this is local 5 news at 5, we are iowa." jack/2ram we're on the eve of a major night in american politics. stephanie yes-- tomorrow is super tuesday and it appears ever that donald being the republican nominee. a new cnn shows trump with his widest margin of support yet of support. 49 percent of republican voters back him for the nomination. marco rubio earned 16 percent support. ted cruz - 15 percent. ben carson - 10 percent and john kasich has 6 percent. according to this cnn poll, seven in 10 believe trump is most likely to win the party's nomination. stephanie:

shows a divided party. almost half of gop voters who don't support trump say they probably or definitely will not support trump in the general election. 595 delegates are up for grabs for republicans tomorrow in super tuesday contests across the country. and as the window to campaign narrows, the rhetoric among the top republican candidates just keeps intensifying. iowa republican governor terry branstad said today he doesn't like it.
