iowa dot com. i'm jack miller. stephanie/2shot: and i'm stephanie angleson. before we get into our top story, let's get another check of some possibly slushy weather coming in to the metro tonight. chief meterologist brad edwards is here to tell us what to expect. brad? brad/wx wall weather adlib: it was nice while it lasted! we had a nice stretch of warmer than average temps, but now winter is making a comeback especially for northern iowa. there is a winter weather advisory posted for northern iowa tonight with mostly some snow expected there. one to three inches is likely north of hwy 30 overnight while areas south are expected to get less than 1". temperatures will continue you to get colder tonight with 20s expected by tuesday morning. tuesday will be a wintry day with quite a few clouds, cold northerly winds of 10-20 mph and temps staying mostly in the 20s all day. we will try to recover a bit on wednesday, but another weather system will be coming through wed. evening with another chance for more rain/snow mix. again, the metro should not see much if any accumulation. we will see some nicer weather by the weekend with sunnier skies saturday and much warmer temps expected for sunday. our timing has been pretty lucky lately when it comes to our weekend!

its day five of the alexander fazzino murder trial, underway in winneshiek county. 42 year old alexander fazzino was arrested in 2013 for the murder of his wife emily. emily was found dead in the couples bathroom in january of 2012. since then the trial has been moved and delayed several times. but today, after nearly a week of testimony, prosecution wrapped up their final witnesses. stephanie: local 5's claire powell has more from the courtroom, its tonights big story. claire: the prosecution began and ended the morning with two dci agents. one who specializes in d- n-a- who told the jury she found alex's blood on the clothes he wore the night of emilys death. she also inspected emilys body- including a negative sexual assault test. the other witness was the special agent who documented a february search warrant in the fazzino household.

" dna, depending how " the state of iowa rests" claire this afternoon, the defense began by witnesses to the including fazzinos family all who say they'd witnessed emilys debilitating pain medication addiction more than once in the years leading to her death. this afternoon- the defnese began it's testimony with elodie- or dede- mcwilson- emilys friend and the fazzinos former house keeper. the defense claims mcwilson illegally sold emily prescription pain medication- shown here through text messages. mcwilson plead the fifth to every question. "did you illegally sell to her pain pills, i plead the fifth" for the first time, an emotional fazzino family testimony. alexander fazzino's mother- joann- told

mother again and realize how ill she was" claire: : the trial continues tomorrow with more defense witnesses set to take the stand- including a member of emilys family. we'll bring you continuing coverage as it gets underway. reporting live claire powell local 5 news we are iowa jack: a bill to improve oversight of state's new privatized medicaid system moves through the legislature. jack: and governor branstad spoke about it this morning. while he says he won't talk about that bill specifically until it makes it to his desk, he says oversight is already happening... with both the insurance commissioner and two ombudsmen. " so were looking at more people who oversee the overseeings to manage the managers, how much of that dupilication do we want and how much is it going to cost? those are the things you have to balance in determining whether this is good public

jack: a state innovation model. it provides to six iowa communities, together hospitals and to improve the health of iowans. diabetes and obesity are the main issues the program targets. stephanie: also at the legislators and gathered to talk about human trafficking and its presence in iowa. one advocate, a mother of a victim, said the issue is happening everywhere in iowa, not just big cities. "kids come from all over iowa. it's not a city issue. it's not a rural issue. it's a statewide issue. desperation or vulnerability, you can have trafficking. " stephanie: and here are some numbers about human trafficking in trafficking resource center, 125 cases have been reported since 2007. 36 of those cases were in 2015 alone. and a majority of those reported

the tip hotline is on your screen if you know of someone who has been a victim of human trafficking and needs help. jack: new at 6 - the ymca in grimes is closing in two months. jack: it's only been open for eight years. but there's not enough money to keep it open, and it'll have to close. one grimes council member says he's sad to see the ymca go, as grimes doesn't have many other gyms for families to go to now. "i would say disappointed is an understatement. we have a lot of grimes residents that are members of the ymca, have been for years, have been eagerly anticipating the new ymca being built and for those reasons, ya, it's very, it's not a good day for a lot of grimes people. " jack: the center will stay open until april 30th, and employees will help members transition to other "y" locations in the metro. members do have access to the other 8 locations throughout the area. stephanie: over in johnston, you might have noticed a different traffic pattern on your way home from work. northwest 70th

traffic - from northwest 107th to northwest 100th street. and northwest 100th street will also be closed for construction. signs and detour messages have been placed throughout the area to let drivers know of a new route. construction of a new bridge there should be completed by this fall. stephanie: coming up on local 5 news at six... an ankeny mom and her teenage daughter are on the national stage - but not for what you may think. jack: and.... state wrestling took over des moines two weeks ago, and now it's state girl's basketball that begins today. find out who's dominating the court in today's first games. director jon schaeffer. this is local 5 news at 6. we are iowa." jack: an ankeny mom and her teenage daughter are faces on the big screen - but not for glitz and glamour. alisha morton shared her 14 year old daughter morgan sellers' experience with bullying earlier today on the "steve harvey" show on local 5. stephanie: morgan says she was called fat by her classmates at northview middle school in ankeny, and despite complaints of the bullying to school officials, the insults didn't stop. and that's when morgan's mom stepped in. " i picked her up from school one day, and she told me the day that i picked her up that she wanted to die. and i had enough at that point. i said morgan where is the boy at, and she said that he was in the school, and so i wanted to speak with him. and everything
