down the former home of former north charleston police officer... michael slager. police say a neighbor put out a small fire in slager's former home friday night. witnesses say they saw someone running away from the scene. slager is charged in the shooting death of walter scott. slager has been out of jail since last monday. his trial is set for october 31st. and sumter police have charged a 16-year-old with murder, stemming from a fatal shooting last month. police say jordan jackson was arrested in the shooting death of 23-year-old antawne dargan. this happened at poplar square apartments on december 30th. officials say jackson is awaiting a bond hearing at a department of juvenile justice facility. under south carolina law, a 16-year-old charged with murder faces prosecution as an adult. sumter p-d says it also arrested 21-year-old deonte perry, who they say concealed his knowledge about the fatal shooting. the investigation is still ongoing. if you know something...

freezing and that's the case for you. >> rochelle: will be tough getting out the door, definitely more seasonable temperatures we haven't seen in quite some time but we will turn things over to meteorologist jonathan kennedy to see if anything will change as you head out the door. >> jonathan: not much change for us this morning. probably get a little colder. last week we saw cold air, we saw slightly warmer weekend with rain coming our way, but back to the cold air and dry conditions as we start a new work week. right now 29 downtown, 28 camden, saluda, a very cold start across the board. everybody at this point below freezing. i think we will cool down. lastly we were seeing a lot of our low temperatures around 8:30. even after the sun comes up it will still continue to warm up, it takes a while for the sun to get the air warmed. a much colder start than what you were seeing yesterday.

we will see this throughout the day, around 5 miles per hour, maybe 10 miles a hour in some cases but all in all not expecting to be a very breezy day which is ideal because it's will be chilly so any wind will make it feel colder. wind chill 23 downtown, newberry 23 as well. sumter 25. orangeburg it's 20. it will be the case throughout the day today with very cool and dry set up. but we will see lots of sunshine throughout the day today, expecting very little cloud cover, no chance of rain at all for the next couple of days, even though we have a cold front expected to come our way tomorrow there's not enough moisture in the air for it to get any kind of rain or anything else going on. thankfully because it will be so cold, all the snow will stay well to the north, we have an alberta clipper bringing the cold air from canada.

but not enough moisture in the air to warrant any rain chance or snow chance anywhere in the carolinas, even for the mountains. nice and dry for us, we will stick with a cool forecast, temperatures top out only around 50 for much of us and likely to see several spots stay in the upper 40s. a chilly forecast throughout the day, maybe low 50s, i don't think anybody even reaches the mid-50s today. our topping out point not that high but in the ballpark where we should be for january. cold again tonight, we will stay with the same forecast through thursday and then a slightly warmer air mass come our way but also a potentially ranier one as well. i think the rain will hold off up till the start of the weekend. obviously we maybe don't want to see rain on the weekend but it will be a little warmer for us. >> rochelle: and a lot of us won't have to be out in it with the rush hour or kids at home, it will be an opportunity for

officer michael slager. police say a neighbor put out a small fire in slager's former home friday night. witnesses say they saw someone running away from the scene. slager is charged in the shooting death of walter scott. slager has been out of jail since last monday. his trial is set for october 31st. rochelle: and sumter police have charged a 16-year-old with murder stemming from a fatal shooting last month. >> crysty: police say jordan jackson was arrested in the shooting death of 23-year-old antawne dargan. this happened at poplar square apartments on december 30th. officials say jackson is awaiting a bond hearing at a department of juvenile justice facility. under south carolina law, a 16-year-old charged with murder faces prosecution as an adult. sumter police says it also arrested 21-year-old deonte perry, who they say concealed his knowledge about the fatal shooting. the investigation is still ongoing. if you know something, again,

"star wars: the force awakens" is holding the top spot at the box office taking in another $41 million. it just became the third best-selling movie of all time. the number 2 spot goes the "the revenant." it stars leonardo dicaprio. the historic drama not only ranked in $38 million but also brought home the golden globe for best motion picture for a drama. and speaking of the wilderness epic, "the revenant" took home two more golden globes. the film's director and its star leonardo dicaprio also took home awards for "best director" and "best performance for an actor in a drama." other big winners of the night
