is an active investigation. officials say more details are expected this morning... we'll be sure to bring you the latest on this case as more information becomes available. deputies say they arrested a richland county woman, after she cut her husband with a knife, when he caught her slashing his tires. the richland county sheriff's department says this happened around three yesterday morning in the 400-block of sheridan drive. 53-year-old vivian jeffrey is charged with criminal domestic violence. deputies say her husband was cut multiple times in the upper body, but is expected to be okay. and six people in northwest columbia are without a home this morning... after their house off bush river road caught fire. columbia fire says this happened in the 16- hundred block of luster lane. officials say the investigation revealed that an electrical malfunction is to blame. damage is estimated around 125-thousand dollars.

valentine's day love by giving the gift of a furry friend.. . that's right... the columbia and lexington animal services are holding a "fur- ever yours" pet adoption special. the pet adoption fee is only 14- dollars. but you better hurry... this special offer ends today. a couple hundred members of one forest acres church spent their valentine's day packing 40- thousand meals. it was part of the mission behind hearts for hunger at trenholm road united methodist church. yesterday's meal was a hearty lentil casserole. it took them about an hour to prepare tens of thousands of

more than 150 miles of major highways. the senate started debate on a roads bill last week, before adjourning for the weekend. the south carolina house of representatives is planning to take an additional week off this week. this is to save south carolina taxpayers about 77-thousand dollars. upon returning in late february... the house says they will continue to address a number of top priority issues that remain on our list before the conclusion of session in june. shifting gears... figures show south carolina had 48 officer-involved shootings in 20-15. reports show that in 26 of the 48 instanans... suspects pulled guns on officers. 14 officers and 14 suspects were injured in those shootings... and one officer and 19 suspects were killed. this is the highest number of officer-involved shootings since the state law enforcement division began keeping track in 19-99. and officers are feeling optimistic about this

during the 20-14 bikefest... three people were killed in eight separate shootings. there were no shooting deaths during the 20-15 event... but officials say they still want to make improvements to this year's festival. the sun news reports that myrtle beach police have been holding weekly meetings laying out bikefest plans for area businesses. a group of about 10 people met last week... and friday attendance was even lower. city officials say the low turnout is good though... since last year's advance meetings attracted concerned business owners and representatives. still to come... it's a battle for the bench... the latest following justice

to the park and ride there just after 8-35 last night in response to a shooting. they found a victim shot... lying on the ground. this is an active investigatiti. officials say more details are expected this morning... we'll be sure to bring you the latest on this case as more information becomes available. a camden man is facing manslaughter charges... after authorities say he shot and killed a 17-year-old trying to steal from his parked truck. kershaw county sheriff jim matthews says the shooting happened early saturday morning, outside the house of jimmy methe in east camden. the 49-year-old jimmy methe is charged with voluntary manslaughter in the death of brandon spencer of camden. officials say spencer was shot once in the head. another person with spencer ran away. matthews

is charged. 33 the sheriff says methe had previously been robbed by thieves who broke into a vehicle. matthews says the neighborhood had seen several vehicles and homes robbed in the past six months. we talked to one of methe's neighbors. 33 methe will appear in bond court next week. still to come... record breaking temperatures up north. and while residents are left bundling up... they're also catching a cool sight rolling

it was a 33 cold valentine's here in the midlands... and for much of the eastern u-s. but in boston... things got a little steamy. yeah... take a look at the "sea smoke" forming on this body of water. it's actually the formation of fog that happens when the especially-cold air moves over the relatively- warmer waters. as many as 18 cities across the east expected record-breaking cold temperatures. new york... actually hit a freezing negative one degrees... breaking the record

downtown lexingtonon right now at 34. all in all, a cold start, about just about average of where we should be this time of year as we get towards the middle of february, just after valentine's day. satellite and radar, quiet for us, cloudy conditions. as you notice, the latest trends towards orangeburg and manning and sumpter, lake moultry, starting to see a couple of showers, and potentially frozen stuff on the radar. it is way too scattered to worry about. that's not going to be an issue for us. we'll see winds out of the north. that's going to seep us cool. if we do see precipitation, it may come from the south and east but as of now it doesn't look like anything before lunch time based on the way things are setting up for us at the moment. wind chill, it's cold, it will feel like the mid to upper 20s, even low 20s, all the rain and snow and all the craziness we were worried about, that's to the north as expected. notice towards knoxville, really kind of deep blue,

its way through the smoky mountains, work its way to north carolina. most of the snow action is in north carolina. you got to go pretty much north of i40 or towards alabama, so i mean, it is a ways away from us at the moment. we will see some of this moisture from the south and east for us today. even though the low level winds are out of the north and east, it does looks like most of our potential for rain early on is going to be kind of coming from the coast. that will keep it warm. that will keep it non-frozen. later tonight, we look for a pretty good front to move through. that will bring us rain that will likely be gone by the time we wake up tomorrow morning. we're looking at some rain lateroday into tonight, much warmer forecast for you tomorrow, 65 for the highs, going from 45 to 65. we will say generally 60 through the rest of the week and highs at or above 70 for the upcoming weekend. a little bit of shock to the

looking at freezing rain for parts of the area. the freezing rain stays to the north, with the counties screen. it looks like mainly the people obviously towards north carolina, but can't obviously the weather does not follow the county lines but that's kind of a general idea of where to expect most of the wintery weather. for us here, we will be just normal enough to stay away from that but things could change. we will keep an eye on the system. a lot of cool air in place, and it will stay put throughout most of the day today, so prepare for the cold and also just keep in mind that you might see slick roadways at some point. >> because when this rain does come later in the day it will be cold. >> yes. >> so we will have to deal with that. >> still to come, south carolina roadways are are in for a makeover. more with the price tag that comes along with the repairs.

monday >> welcome back to "good morning columbia", your time is 6:26. as state senators work to decide how much extra money to give to our roadway -- roadways, the positions range from spending about 65 million extra on the year's interstates, pavements

potential winter storm now, potential for us, but it's a full blown winter storm for areas to the north. right now, seeing dry conditions, but cold conditions, 35 degrees downtown, 32 to those counties to the nomplet we are seeing some areas at and below freezing, bishopville, 30, 31 sal you'da, notice the 32 numbers, we are seeing towards saint matthews and the areas to the south. satellite and radar, picking up some action to the south. notice towards orangeburg, sumpter, lake multie and all those areas there, you're popping up. that is freezing rain, but very, very isolated. i wouldn't expect to see much from this, even if it is freezing rain. with this type of scattered activity, it's not really going to do much, so not really expecting any impact from that this morning. we are looking at a potential for it. it's something to watch for sure. but maybe some slick roadways. that's about it. it doesn't look like there's enough coverage or intense

type of intense kind of power outages or anything like that that we typically electric at for freezing rain, winds out of the east, northeast, 5-10 miles per hour. it's going to be cold, not necessarily windy, but some wind chill factored in there. owl notice the wintery mess to the north. the influx from the south and southeast expected, we will likely see this throughout date but look at how few and far between compared to elsewhere, a nice band of snow north of i40, towards rather air, greensboro, boone, towards knoxville, even as you continue i40 there. we will continue to see that throughout much of the day today. we're really going to seein flux from the south and also a front coming our way later tonight but mainly that is in alabama at the moment. freezing rain for the counties, hugging north carolina, other than that for us, we're not seeing an advisory, but something to look out for. have the umbrella handy. maybe few slick spots.

breaking overnight the lexington police department is investigating what they are calling a suspicious death. officials say a man's body was found on river chase way near corley mill road. they were called to the parring and arrived there just after 8:35 last night in response to a shooting. they found the victim lying on the ground. now, this is still an active investigation this morning. officials say they plan to release more details later this morning. of course, we will bring you the very latest as this case continues to develop. a camden man is facing manslaughter charges after authorities say he shot and killed a 17-year-old trying to steal from his parked truck. her shaw county sheriff jim matthew say the shooting happened saturday morning outside the house in east camden. jimmy mett is charged with manslaughter in the death of spencer. another person with spencer
