a a sigh of relief for a woman whose life was disrupted by a kidnapper's ban intentions. tonight, we have a complete break down of who found her, how they found her and the suspect, delven barnes who has a history of crime and awaiting federal charges. >> from the abduction scene to the hospital where car leash ace being treated tonight in maryland, a team of "action news" reporters is covering this story from all angles. our sharrie williams beginning our live breaking news coverage at northwest detectives who began this investigation, sharrie. >> reporter: absolutely, right brian and shirleen. this investigation has taken a lot of manpower, man hours and across tate line but tonight the result they were hoping for it is the reality that this 22-year old ace live and well, and commissioner ramsey says that the man behind this is a complete thug. >> we're so thankful. i am so happy. thank you for all of the

prayers, care and love. >> reporter: family relieved and counting its blessings tonight their loved one carlesha free land gaither is alive and well. >> i mean you hope and hope but you don't know until you actually are able to get her, and make hure that she's okay. >> reporter: unday the 22-year old was aggressively dragged down colter street in philadelphia's germantown section, placed in a car and then kidnaped. with the help of surveillance camera and use of carlesha's stolen atm card clues began to pour in as to who the kidnapper may be. >> we were able to identify this individual. identify his car, and track it into maryland. >> reporter: the suspect turned out to be 37 year-old dell vin barnes a former philadelphia resident with a history of real event crime. philadelphia police said the abduction appears to be a random act. >> as of right now there is no relation that they know each other, right now we're just taking it on as a stranger,

investigation. >> reporter: barnes car was spotted this afternoon in maryland parked along the road. a task force of fbi and atf agents and u.s. marshals saw barnes get out of the vehicle and moved in. carlesha was inside the car as well. the 22-year old has only minor injuries and is doing fine tonight. her mom, spoke with her over the phone. >> she heard my voice, she broke. she broke down. she was crying. i had to calm her down. we both had to calm down. i said we both have to calm down. after we calm down and i got to her, i talked to her. i said i love her. >> reporter: as for the family's message to the accused kidnapper. >> i hope you rot in hell. >> reporter: strong word from carlesha's family tonight, to her suspect abductor. he has not been formally charged at this point but is being held on a warrant that is out of the state of virginia. as for carlesha and her family

tonight, her family is in route as we speak to visit her in the hospital in maryland. live at northwest detectives, sharrie williams for "action news" at ten on phl17. shirleen. >> all right, thank you, sharrie. family members are on their way to howard county general hospital as sharrie mentioned in columbia, maryland where carlesha is being treated tonight. that is where "action news" reporter kenneth moton is live, kenneth? >> reporter: shirleen, federal agents told us tonight that they sat on the us peck's reek will in a parking lot for 20 to 30 minutes, before they moved in. they say that carlesha freeland gaither was so upset they immediately got her to this hospital. "action news" was the only local station in maryland as suspect delven barnes ford taurus was towed away and baltimore field division atf agents who spotted the vehicle, moved in and rescued carlesha freeland gaither. >> the woman was relieved that

law enforcement was on the scene. once she had the time to process what had occurred you could tell she was very emotionally distraught. >> reporter: agent timothy jones says four men and one woman got a tip and discovered car in the parking lot of the shopping center just off of i-95. the plastic was covering that window gaither kick out during her abduction but those agents were still able to get on the man and woman inside. agents say at first both were sitting on the passenger side and then barnes moved in the driver's seat. >> for fear of him driving away before we could detain him and determine if that was actually our victim, the agents at that point moved in. >> reporter: jones says agents surrounded the vehicle taking down barnes without incident. >> it was fantastic because i was actually on the phone with the detective from the philadelphia police department, and it was one of those moments where we were very happy that luck was in our favor. >> reporter: gaither was rush to nearby howard county general hospital for her injuries.

but she was safe. >> yes, that is huge. i'm so glad that she's found safe. fantastic. >> reporter: meanwhile the resident who saw the take down and knew of the national story were in shock. >> we thought it was, maybe something that was related to some type of, drug or atf and everything but we had no clue it was that big of a case. >> reporter: gaither's family should arrive at this hospital in the next 30 minutes or so, to reunite. we know investigators are at this hospital but we don't know if they have had a chance to speak with this young victim. reporting live from columbia maryland tonight, kenneth moton for "action news" at ten on phl17. >> incredible, kenneth, thank you. police are certainly glad this man is off the street, delven barnes is one suspect named in this crime and we know more about what police are calling his violent past. >> reporter: yes, thinks where all this began, brian and tonight we are learning more about delven barnes including information from his own family members. his uncle tells us his nephew was the son of a preacher but he had made very bad choices in life. we are also learning he spent a lot of time in the very own state prison system. according to the first person from the pennsylvania pennsylvania state board of probation and parole, delven has served prison sentences in pennsylvania and in his most recent he completed a eight year event isens for aggravated assault and was released in november of 2013. now, in virginia, he was wanted and now is currently being held on for the following charges of attempted capitol murder, assault, malicious injury with active explosive or fire. now, tonight we have spoke to his uncle who told us he saw his nephew in virginia, just a few months ago, and he tells us that he has conflicting feelings knowing that his nephew's history and now how
