might need a light sweater or jacket for the kids. wind direction playing a huge part in our forecast. you always hear me talk about wind direction for us here in south florida. it can keep us warm and humid or cool and comfortable. with that said we are happy to see a northwest breeze that's a land breeze, so this morning the only issue we could see is patchy fog developing over inland broward. but all that cloud cover and rain pushing well away from us because of the northwest wind. there's still a cluster of storms and showers. that cluster of shower and thunderstorm activity will stay offshore as it continues to head towards the east. one thing we are going to watch is this area. we've got this cold front right now over portions of texas, louisiana and headed in towards missouri. this will continue to head towards the east and that will be our next weather maker going into the weekend increasing our rain chances. today it will be brighter, drier.

by the afternoon you'll definitely need those sun glasses. tomorrow we'll continue to warm up and increase that chance of a shower in the forecast by tomorrow afternoon and into the weeke. we do have a high risk of rip currents for you beach-goers. please be careful out there. swim at guarded beaches or swim out of the water. otherwise highs today will be in the upper 70s. warmer than what we're seeing all week long. notice we increase the rain chances saturday into sunday as that cold front moves in. once is clears by saturday night into monday, another cooldown breeze. it will feel that way tuesday morning and highs will return to the upper 70s and low 80s by then. palmetto expressway, wanted to show you how things are looking. no accidents at this point but we are seeing congesting in our southbound lanes. this is right at the big curve. folks traveling along roughly at about 45 miles per hour which is good.

was fired on wednesday after being indicted for allegedly lying to a grand jury. planned was pulled over for an improper lane change but ended up being arrested for assault in july. her case attracted nationwide attention. bland found dead in her jail cell three days later. the official cause of death, suicide. the district attorney has declined to file charges against bill cosby. the d.a.'s office says they will not file charges because the statute of limitations has expired. currently the 78-year-old comedian is facing a charge of aggravated assault. he was released on $1 million bond and it is due bk in court on that charge later this month. a shocking sight is caught on camera. a nine-year-old boy is hitnd dragged and it's allegedly all done by a

another man was stabbed at an air canada center in ontario. the victim taken to the hospital in critical condition. the building put on lockdown while police search for the attacker. he was later arrested and taken into custody. this morning we're waiting to learn what charges a girl will be facing after she was stabbed on a bus. it started into an argument and escalated into a teenage boy being stabbed. late last night lauderhill police confirmed an unidentified girl had been charged in that attack. barbara dawson died at a florida hospital after trying to get readmitted. this is the moment when she had a confrontation with an officer trying to escort her out. >> please, please, i can't breathe. i can't breathe. >> now dawson was treated at calhoun liberty hospital back on december 21st.

she refused to leave when she still didn't feel well. an officer allegedly unplugged her oxygen hose when he tried to walk her out. >> why didn't she get the benefit of the doubt, not just the benefit of the doubt, the benefit of humanity from the hospital and police officer. >> she collapsed. after lying on the pavement for 1 minutes she was finally readmitted but she died. a man accused of boyfriend to death will stay behind bars. edward cadet accused of beating him to death two days before his mother was found dead. quick low that escalated to violence. >> this was not a pre-meditated act. his mother had just been shot by who we believed was the person who did it. an altercation happened at the household and the result is what happened here.

joining others for the all-star game later on this month. zoo miami is mourning the loss of a young giraffe after@ a freak accident. the nine month old giraffe had to be euthanized after an injury to his spinal cord. they took another giraffe to the back part of the exhibit in order to be examined but wesley out of curiosity followed. zoo staff dislodged him from the fence he got stuck in between but the injuries were too severe to his legs and spinal cord. in the end wesley had to be put down. shouldonkeys be able to win copyright if they snap a selfie. this is a real case. peta filed a lawsuit asking to represent the monkey. yesterday the judge ruled monkeys cannot have their own copyright. what they can do is take
