>> victor: right now on news10 at 5:30 this pond on the golf course in lauderdale hill was the scene a deadly crash last night. four people were in the car when the driver lost control and went into the water. >> janine: that driver was able to call for help but it was too late. local10's terrell forney on the scene with more on this investigation. >> terrell: all of the passengers who were in the car died. only the driver survived. this intersection where it happened is actually the end of a dead end street. there is a traffic signal here.

this car went into the water. loved ones have been showing up all day. see some folks right here just kind of standing by, reflecting, trying to understand what happened. it is a heart-wrenching sight. a yellow car pulled from a murky pond overnight. a crash that ultimately took the lives of three passengers inside, inclung these two brothers. >> the car when we originally got here was completely in the water. >> terrell: cops say rescue drivers were auld out to the area near 44eth streets and inverrary boulevard. they fopped the driver 24-year-old deshawn prince safely on the water's edge after making out alive but he told investigators three more people were trapped inside. >> our fire people went in to rescue mode. they went inside the water and were able to retrieve three victims from the inside of the vehicle that was submerged. >> terrellll22-year-old sha equal barrow and nathaniel

hurt after a bus collided with trolley in fort lauderdale earlier today. sky 10 over that scene along northwest 6th way. west of i-95. you can see the windshield of the bus is cracked, and the trolley, that had no major damage right now it's unclear how that crash happened. the seven injured people were taken to holy cross hospital. >> victor: now to a one and only. thousands of dollars were stolen from a beach in high. the motors woror $20,000 each were stolen off a 30-foot inflatable boat. this happened at an inflate ab boat company. the owner the company waset to open this wednesday. but then the unfortunate happened. >> these motors ever 150-horsepower each, they way 350 poundsl and they were hydraulically plumbe and electrically plumbed and bolted to the transom so it required probably a couple of guys to lift them up and get them into a truck. >> victor: police hope to find

thieves have actually also recently targeted other nearby businesses. it's not clear if the cases are nnected. >> janine: guidelines right now surrounding the case of missing toddler lonzie barton. laurie is back the in newsroom with the latest developments out of jacksonville. >> laurie: this is such a grim case. this littl boy wasn't even two years old. he was 21 months old when he was announced missing last july it. has been days, weeks, months of art arduous searching in the jacksonville packers the mother and boyfriend at the time have both been charged in the meantime, the mother pleading guilty just last week to child neglect and lying to police. but now the sheriff confirming that her boyfriend led them to skeletal remains in a wooded area of phillips highway in the cksonville area. let'ssisten now to the chief of investigations tom hackney. he has been the face of this 142-day search. >> it's a very sad day that we find these remains that we

but it's the first step in justice. i mentioned several times that that little boy didn't need to trash. >> laurie: the state attorney also at that news conference to announce that she was able to work with the boyfriend's defense team to find the skeletal remains. they were not buried but they were covered in this wooded area, and now we will learn new charges in the coming weeks weeks against that boyfriend. little lonzie barton's biological father was told first this morning that the skeletal remains were found, and then they announced it to the public. such a grim, grim story but hopefully some closure for the father. little lonzie barton, his rames have been found, and as we learn any more details on charges to come against his mother and her boyfriend we'll g those to you. i'm laurie jennings at the breaking news desk. >> janine: laurie, thank you. >> victor: now to today's "call christina" where a new sweepstakes scam. >> jenise: first it looks like

it's a scam, one that nearly cut a local10 viewer. >> oh, my god. no way. >> janine: a $1 million prize. >> christina: the publishers hearing clearinghouse patrolling a lick winner at their front door. scammers are piggybacking off this well-known sweepstakes with letters and accompanying checks so convincing -- i. >> i thought oh, boy, $8,000. >> christina: even consumers like mary cochran almost got roped in the scam. >> you even signed it. >> i took it over to the bank. >> you were close. >> reporter: a first glance mary thought she won. here's the letter claiming to be from publishers clearinghouse. >> it said i had $1,500,000, and they were sending me a check. >> this looks pretty official. >> it does. >> christina: that's the ploy, looking dejitt, pretending to be a brand you know.

better talk to someone about it. >> christina: thankfully she called christina. publishers clearinghouse tells us the check is a fake, the scam is real and it is sweeping across the country. the con artist will often ask you on to deposit the money ask then wire a portion back. that is a red flag. under federal law banks mug the funds you deposit available quickly but just because you can withdraw the money quickly doesn't mean the check is good. by the time it bounces, the scammers got your cash and the bank may hold you responsible, twice. >> winning is a complete surpri. we never let threat winner know in advance we're on the way. >> christina: take a closer look at that check. it's not from publishers clearing hours. we called city lights, the company whose name is on the check. they also told us this is a fraud. their account information they say was stolen and they reported to it police. and the telephone number on the letter mary cochran received? we day reverse look-up.
