our victor o oquendo. the runner up to dancing with the stars was arrested last night in key west for misdemeanor battery. >> so this is void from the arresting officer's body camera. you can't see too much because it's very dark, but you can hear carter tell the officer his first name and try to elain what happened. police say carter and another man michael papayans arrived at the hogs breath saloon and were denied service for being too intoxicated. police say veo from the front street bar shows carter intentionally hitting a bouncer at the bar and papayans allegedly punched the manager. both were booked into the key west jail. this is carter's third arrest following a nightclub incident in 2002 and a doubleigits bust in 2005. carter has a well known history of substance abuse that was even documented on a reality show abo his family. now this afternoon, this is video of nick carter appearing before a judge. he's bond was set at $1,500, and

to contact the alleged victi to stay away from the bar where the fight happened and to refrain from drinking alcohol. and here's carter as he walked out of jail this afternoon. he had very little to say to reporters as he jumped into a waiting taxi. his only comment was tat he's trying to enjoy his vacation in key west. carter, who lived in ruskin, a member of the backstreet boys, one of the largest boy bands in the 1990s. i want it that way was one of their biggest hits with 100 million in record sales. they played the super bowl in 2002 in tampa and more recently carter appeared on abc's dancing with the stars, nearly winning the mirror ball trophy, but instead he settled for runner up. local10 michael seiden is live in key west and he will have much more on the backstreet boy bust coming up at 6:00. back to you, laurie and calvin.

to increase its education budget, teachers took to tallahassee for a rally arguing those increases don't go far enough. the state is currently set to spend about $80 billion on education. that figure hasn't been seen since the 2007, 2008 school year, but teachers from around the state includes hundreds from south florida traveled to tallahassee for a rally. they're pushing for more spending on schools, including pay raise ands they want to reduce the amount of standardized test zag breaking news out of chicago now. a judge has ordered the release of video showing a teenager shot and killed by police. janine is in the video court with the details. calvin, the video shows the shooting death in 2013 of cedric chapman, his family has been fighting to get this video released and just this afternoon, it was. take a look. it shows -- and you'll see in just a minute, the officer with his gun drawn, chapman then coming into view. you're going to see that officer right there in the bottom right-hand side of your screen. that is chapman on the left-hand

his mother says that her son was not at congresser. he was actually st while running away from police. she says he fired after seeing him turn towards officers with a dark object. investigators later determined that that object was an iphone box. this is a picture of chapman. police say he was a carjackings suspect. that is one of several that have caused so much unrest in the city. there have been calls for mayor ram emanuel and they're bracing for protests. >> we're tracking our first main storm of the i do. the weather authority is tracking hurricane alex. it is very unusual to have a hurricane at this time of year. >> makes you wonder what type of season this will be. >> she is here to tell us where alex is heading. >> we are looking at the latest stats on it. maximum sustained winds at 85 miles per hour. moving toward the north-northeast at 23 miles per hour.

and the feds are taking noticed over the last few american red cross the department of homeland security says there has been an up tick in the numbers of unaccompanied children and families at the southern border. because of that they have increased bed space in federal run shelters in what they call the laredo second tore. u.s. customs and border protection reports 356 people were caught in fiscal year 2015. in 2016 there have bee 502. that's a 41% increase. daily you do hear their struggleds, you hear their story and the reason for leaving their country. >> r many it means a dangerous voya that could days, weeks, sometimes american red cross. at times no food, no water or sleep for days. and sometimes that includes children. they're having to carry them. they're having to neuter nurte them and make some sort of normal life for them.

thursday and those roadways are so wet, so let's check with local10 news reporter general then fernandez. >> a start with i-95 southbound, this is just before u.s. one. you can see in the distance that's a broken down tractor-trailer that is blocking the left lane and of course with that we are seeing some delays. again this is i-95 southbound just before u.s. one. looking at those speeds clocking in at 21 miles per hour. we've got a big accident on the turnpike that's causing some mor delays. this says as you're heading south as you're approaching hollywood boulevard, there is a right lane blocked and we are seeing those slow speeds clocking in at 9 miles per hour and those delays are starting from 595. we also have an accident on i-75 northbound this is as you're trying to ramp on to 595 east. we are seeing some pretty heavy delays here as well with speeds there we're looking at around 10 miles per hour. we also hav this crash on i-95 northbound. this is right around oakland park boulevard with speeds here clocking in at 30 miles per hour.

weather out there and cool temperatures too. lower sevens was all we managed this afternoon. not that we were expecting an incredibly warm day, so today really did go as planned. noting that our afternoon high for this time of the year in the m 70s didn't quite make that. winds now from the east-southeast at 10 miles an hour. 71 out at mia, the forecast, dance and dreary for the rest of the evening as temperatures slip down towards the upper 60s by about 9:00 this evening. doppler radar, broward and miami-dade, we still are finding some patchy, light showers out there. the rain is a bit more substantial on the west side o the peninsula as we're looking out over mainland monroe, collier county too and this basically going laurie and calvin with that south westerly -- along with the south westerly flow, so there could be more passing showers to be had, so if you are making plans to make road trip tonight, know the windshield wipers are going to be back and forth.

for the south we're paying very close attention to what we see along the gulf coast and then a system over the gulf of mexico, this one too will be working in our direction for tomorrow, but before it even arrives, we're going to take note of the showers we'll have out there tonight, and then come early tomorrow morning, we could have some scattered rains, won't rule out a few storms, but it looks like the afternoon, early evening is when we may have a line sort of gusty storms that try to move on through, so we'll be here tracking that as we push a front through. that front behind it, we clear out or dry out on friday, so that's the timefrfre -- pardon me, drying out saturday night. it's going to be saturday when we're expecting more sunshine ad then by saturday evening, the clouds will start to return as we track the next system that brings us some rain sunday. so for tomorrow definitely keep the umbrellas handy. rain and gusty storms. temperatures may touch 80 degrees tomorrow. so even though we're introducing a better chance for rainfall at least

gab has been drawn to dance since they was four years old. >> i like that there's a lot of structure but it's always something new. there's a new challenge every day that you go into class, but you know what to expect. >> but gaby wasn't expecting injuries to keep her off the dance floor. first her ankle, then they are lower back. the atmosphere for the young dancer is getting much more advanced as far as the amount of stress. >> physical therapist whitney chambers works w wh young dancers through a special u8 sports medicine program at joe digaggio hospital. the vast majority of injuries tend to be related to overuse and it's related to the volume of training and the types of skills they're working repetitively. >> it's estimate that 20% of student dancers are dealing with some kind of injury at any given point. among the most common dance injuries, snapping hip syndrome. that's the snapping of a hen done right over a bony bump on the

also ankle impinge meant, that can happen when the toe is fully pointed and may require surgery to repair. dancers are also suggestion acceptable to stress fractures of the lower back. >> the biggest thing is the assessment and make are sure we're identifying their areas of opportunities to improve upon and where their i am balances lie so we can improve their efficiency of a body as a whole. >> gabbie is glad to be teaching again. teaching one dance move at a time. >> it's really frustrating, but i have learned to take time off, knowing that if i take time off now, i'll get to do it more later. >> very smart advice there. physical therapists say that core streth and flexibility are both key to helping to avoid these dance related injuries, and it's important for instructors to help students recognize when they're pushing themselves too hard. staying off the dance floor until the pain has subsided is the oy real way to avoid potentially permanent tissue damage.

there, so perhaps a little cool for some, but withthe wind coming in from the east-southeast, that a sign of some milder air being transported into the area and temperatures are holding in the lowe sevens. the forecast for the evening, dreary and dance. our sky cast model has just updated, not only showing clouds in the area, but also showing the potential for some rainfall out there as well. and that we're bearing it out on the doppler radar as we scan the skies on the west side of the peninsula over it's land, broward and miami-dade. we're finding plenty of light rainfall out over the everglades and then look at the rainfall we see stretching from mainland monroe back out toward the gulf of mexico side. this is all moving from the southwest and moving on up and over toward the northeast which means more showers in the forecast for us as we heading through the night and then by tomorrow morning we could have maybe a few strong storms as well before we introduce our next round of storms or at least gusty showers tomorrow afternoon,

making for rainfall along portions of louisiana and that's extending out towards the gulf of mexico. so it is a pretty progressive pattern for us. we have the south westerly flow a lot and that won't be changing as we're heading from tonight and into tomorrow and the next day and the next day quite frankly, but anyway what we're expecting for the evening is cloudy and dance. early morning scattered rain, maybe a few strong storms, we'll be watching out for that. by the afternoon, rain, and this is probably the timeframe where we see the better chance for gusty storms tomorrow afternoon. south westerly flow aloft, a rollercoaster forecast for friday's storms. we have better weather come saturday, a lot drier weather before we have more rain coming back on sunday and it looks like we dry out again on monday. so back and forth, back and forth. make sure you have the rain gear handy tomorrow and then on our saturday, that is when we expect to have drier weather and cooling down
