have a great monday. right now at 4:30, deadly storms leaving behind destruction, parts of southwest florida beginning to recover this morning. and south florida also feeling the effects of those storms. some downed power lines, up rooted trees, thousands without power. now one day later some through. another smoke shop burglarized. police working to see if there's a crime connection. good morning, south florida. i'm eric yutzy. >> hello, everybody. i'm kristi krueger in for jacey birch. our weather authority meteorologist julie durda is also here checking your forecast. we had such a wild ride of weather over the last few days that our computer system doesn't want to work.

for you to let you know this morning the one thing you'll notice as you walk out the door is the chilly change.e. we had temperatures in the upper 70s before that storm threw us some showers and storms. once the front cleared, you noticed that breeze picking up, cooler, dry conditions established here in south florida. temperature are in the 50s. you're going to need those sweaters and jackcks this morning and you'll need them all day long as highs are going to reach the upper 60s. so much more to talk about on this monday. we'll tell you about the tragedy near tampa bay. two people are dead after a tornado tore right through a home there. homes reduced to rubble. the governor making a visit to assess the damage first hand. >> power knocked out in some areas. you can see trees toppled by strong winds in some neighborhoods. that is our top story this morning. >> many families are homeless. their home is just leveled.

damage from saratoga to siesta key to the small town of duet. local 10 news reporter michael seiden is in saratoga county with the very latest. >>reporter: about 24 hours ago this home was worth nearly $2 million but this morning it is an absolute mess after a tornado ripped it apart. >> you can hear it coming. >>reporter: it was a deadly storm pack a deadly punch overnight. >> this was bad. >>reporter: multiple tornadoes destroying homes and businesses leaving a long path ofdestruction near tampa. >> i grew up on an island. i'll take hurricanes all day long. >>reporter: heart break and shock, this mobile home torn to pieces by 130 mile per hour wind. the deadly twister taking the lives of stephen wilson and his wife katie.

38-year-old son and four children, all between the ages of six and ten. late sunday afternoon governor rick scott paid a visit to family members who rushed here as soon as they heard what had happened. >> my heart goes out to all the victims, especially the wilson family. >>reporter: the neighbors who knew the wilsons are thankful to be alive. the homeownwn here tells me she and her husband rode out that powerful tornado inside a closet, then they rushed out here: this was a workshop. she tells me the family oven. look right across the way. mess. you can see all the damage out here. in saratoga county near siesta key, a stunning site. this $2 million home on the water barely standing, all this after a tornado ripped the roof off and sent debris cashing on the vehicles. take a look.

homeowners' vehicles. really a good thing that person wasn't inside there. we may be talking about fatalities but again no reported injuries at this home. we're in saratoga county near siesta key. i'm michael seiden, local 10 news. >> all right, michael. dangerous weather yesterday, lots of rain, strong winds hit both broward as well as miami-dade counties. the wind and weather@ came in strong. one tree came crashing down on a fence. on thehe road drivers not only dealing with the weather but power lights out in some aas. increasing the damage streets. >> power lines were downed as well. you can see these wires across the ground. some were seen dangling from high above. this church in coconut grove also loser

the church relying on generators to power through services early sunday morning. no word yet on where these boats c ce from. the rain, look at this, also coming down hard in broward county. here's video of it showing in plantation. local 10 viewers sent us this photo as well oa tree knocked over on a car in kennedy m. half of the homeowners driveway blocked off. developing this morning, a man recovering in the hospital after a boat hits a bridge in deerfield beach. two men were on that boat at the time of the crash. there was some heavy damage to the fnt end of the boat. the victim is said to only have minor injuries. democrats taking part in their final debate before the first votes are cast in the

showdown in south carolina proved to be a feistier affair. hillary clinton and bernie sanders went at it. the heated back and forth underscored how tight the race has poem with the iowa caucuses two weeks away. >> when this campaign began she was 50 points ahead of me. we were all of 3 percentage points. guess what, in iowa, new hampshire, the race, it is very, very close. we have the momentum. we're on the path to a victory. >>reporter: clinton win after sanders reversing his position on gun controls. >> he h h voted with the nra with the gun lobby numerous time. he voted against tht brady bill five times. he voted for immunity from gun makers and sellers which the nra said was the most important piece of gun

after 6:00 sunday morning but e-cigarettes untouched it. a ball-cap wearing thief barrels through front glass door it, head first and then darts straight for the counter. he eventually steals only the cash box knocking over a computer in the process and then runs off with very little money and that same day about an hour before the same thing happed yet again at a shop called holy smokes in pembroke pines. images here crystal clear, only the cash box is stolen. the crook appears to be wearing gloves and a ball cap in each case and likely is using some sort of tool to break the glass for this head-scratching heist. >> i think the window costs more than what they stole. >>reporter: there's in doubt the

being targeted but are these crimes connected? that is something detectives are still trying to anything out at this point. the surveillance video shows a white or light-colored car drive away. if you know anything, give police a call. i'm terrell forney, local 10 news. a hollywood home goes up in flames and a family is being treated for smoke inhalation. we're told several people inside the house were treated, seven dogs inside the home at the time of the fire. all of them are okay. a motorcyclist struck in hollywood. this happened right near ocean drive and sheridan street. that victim taken to the hospital with some seous injuries. police say they are looking for a white car right now, possibly a lincoln. if you have any information on this case or who might be behind that wheel, you're urged to call broward crimestoppers.

>>reporter: michael rittering's passion and desire to help others was undeniable. his death hitting the missionary's congregation back home hard. 4> while here mike did everything from cutting grass to serving as one of our elders, and i state that because mike had a heart and he was willing to do anything. there was no job too small for mike. >>reporter: starting an orphanage, school and crisis center for women, all things mike accomplished during his time. on friday mike was having coffee at a cafe when terrorists attacked killing 28 people. the 45-year-old was expecting a volunteer group coming home from pembroke pines. >> they were about 1500 feet if landing when there was the terrorist there. the pilot was notified

heading out the door on this monday. wind gusts in the teen right now, ft. lauderdale. the 20s down by marathon. we do keep that elevated rip currents in florida. i wasn't kidding when we said yesterday we're in the 70s and 50s. that cold front that's dropped our temperatures anywhere between 1 and 20 degrees colder than what we woke up to yesterday. very impressive fronts not just for us but in the state. so we are waking up to dry conditions and clear skies. we'll keep that northwest wind in place today keeping us cool, keeping us breezy. highs today will struggle to reach the upper 60s. reinforcing shot at colder air moving into south florida by tomorrow morning. we are expecting our temperatures to be in the low 50s near the coast. possibly even some upper 40s. most likely low 50s inland. not a great day to be on the water as you heard
