was driving a stolen dirt bike and ran a rl. he's facing multiple charge including grand theft and driving without a license. there were hundreds of motorcycle and all-terrain vehicle riders who took over the streets of south florida yesterday.y. this is all part o an event called guns off, bikes down. some say they do it to spread a message of peace. others say they just do it for the thrill. this all started about 4:00 yesterday afternoon in miami gardens and northwest dade and up into broward county they went. they went through major intersections and neighborhood streets too. this year officers were more prepared to handle the massive crowd of street riders. many officers focusing on gas stations where they figured these people would stop to fuel up. police aren't allowed to chase the riders for safety reasonsut they

ones who were breaking laws. a lot of them got citations and police also towed several bikes. there were multiple injuries including one biker who had to be air-lifted with head injuries. we're live in ft. lauderdale this morning, erica rakow, local 10 news. there was gunfire in a fast food restaurant in norwestern miami-dade. you can see those three windows boarded up yesterday. the shooting happened along 11th street. it's unclear what the motive was or if anyone was hurt. we're hearing from two workers who killed a man who tried to rob their convenience store. a man came in with a gun, demanding money. he grabbed the gun that was under the counter, fired it and killed that alleged would-be robber. >> up and down, shoot, shoot. >> next thing i know, they are just firing

>> a similar scenario actually happened at the very same store in march of 2010. a robber came in, that robber was not killed but was arrested. >> flames forced a family out of their home in oakland park. it is at northwest 27th way and 29th court. also a lot of damage but it's not clear what actually started that fire or if anyone was inside or injured. developing this hospital after being struck by a hit and run driver in southwest miami-dade this. happened on southwest 129th avenue and southwest 244th street just east of u.s.-1. now police say a public service aid employee was the side of the crash speeding car. he was taken t the hospital. survive. but if you kpow anything, you are urged to call miami-dade meanwhile we've now learned the name of a passenger injured in a

it's most likely we see temperatures during this time of year in the 50s. one those cold fronts, the strong ones push through and in the wake of the cold front that brought strong storms sunday, some time for mother nature to realize, hey, south florida needs to feel like winter because december was very warm. now we're enjoying it. 55 key west. the northwest wind definitely the culprit this morning to make it feel a bit brisk and cooler than what we felt like yesterday. it is causing advisories for you beach-goers and boaters. currently we do have a temperature of 56 in pembroke pines. 57 in marathon and that cold air has made it all the way into south florida to the keys. that's when you know we've got a cold front because temperatures in key west waking up to the upper 50s. that northwest wind will coinue throughout the day and we'll continue to stay dry. we've got tperatures in the panhandle in the 30s. factor in the wind chill, it feels like the low 30s and even the

this morning, police say the new plan is off for the 14-year-old, to get his side of the story as officers look for the person who pulled the trigger. ben kennedy, local 10 news. a miami teen is behind bars and scheduled to go before a judge later on today after violating his probation, this just two months after being placed on house arrest. here's a picture of this sky, 18-year-old will campbell only served one year in prison for t nightclub shooting. he was arrested friday and is also being charged with possession of a firearm and marijuana use. co-face up to 30 years in prison for violating his probation. campbell served time for his roll in the shooting at the spot. several victims were under age and as young as 11 years old in that club. also this morning we're getting ourirst look at one of the

that martin luther king ride-out across miami-dade and broward counties. you may have seen them on the streets or here on local 10. their afternoon out could lead some of them to some jail time here. erica rakow has more. >>reporter: police have a difficult time controlling this group but they say when possible and of safe they move in to arrest those breaking the laws. hollywood police arrested an 18-year-old waking up here in jail this morning facing multiple charges. police departments across south florida were faced with a daunting task but they tried their best to stop riders when safe and when breaking laws. popping wheelies, taking selfies, even kicking cars. officers spotted gardener pulling on to the shoulder of i-95, stopped himnd found the dirt bike he was riding was stolen and he didn't he a license. he was arrested on multiple charges. dozens of others

ticketed. >> promote the sport, that's it, man. show them you can make these things street legal. >>reporter: officers focused on gas stations they figured the riders would stop to fuel up, a place they could safely regulate. dozens of dirt bike had been confiscated and tickets handed out, the majority for bikes not legal on the streets. >> you don't want to create a worse situation. if we go to stop these guys and they flee and now you caused them to run into that poor family that happens to come along, now you've created a worse situation than the one you were trying to avoid. though police say they were not able to chase the riders, they were able to stop them from breaking the laws and arrest them. one rider had to be air-lifted with head injuries. from ft. lauderdale, erica rakow, local 10 news. south florida not the only place where demonstrations were held.

bridge shut down by a group of protestors who said they were acting out with police shootings. back here in south florida airline workers held rallies too at the same time as others across the country. protestors were demanding fair wages from the contractor for airlines like american and delta. look at this, workers there saying while the company make nearly $8 billion a year, they don't en make enough to feed their families. they are demanding the workers be paid at least $15 an hour. 6:36 the time right now. the latest on historic change. american airlines says it hopes to be flying regularly-scheduled flights from miami to cuba. a preliminary deal reached last month.

forrs we'll keep those mid and high-level clouds. the atmosphere is dry thanks to high pressure. even though you are seeing some showers over the western atlantic, those are not be moving onshore. thanks to high pressure today and tomorrow, we will stay dry. here comes our next cold front bringing snow over portions of the rockies, the midwest up towards parts of the dakotas and that will eventually be pushing into south florida by the end of the workweek and into the weekend. for today cool and breezy. watch what happens unour forecast. that high is just to the north of us. by tomorrow and going into thursday that high will slide off the carolina coastline. that will change the shift in the wind direction. i always tell you winds play a huge part in the atmosphere in our forecast pause we are surrounded by a north wind which is a cool air connection and east wind which brings heat and humidity. a south wind who decides for the possibility of showers and storms. as we take a look at the seven-day forecast, you'll see that transition with temperatures rebounding
