his staffers were involved in some set of car wreck. >> laurie: this is ver serious. janine stanwood is in the newsroom with the breaking details on that plus another developing story. >> janine: carson is suspending campaign ents street rest of the day after some of assist his staffers were involved in a a wreck earlier this afternoonn iowa, according to carson campaign. a van transporting three volunteers and a campaign employee hit a patch of ice and it flipped on its side when it was struckk by another car. three we're told being checked at an area hospital while the fourth was sustain to a trauma center in nebraska. carson spoke a short time ago. >> one person is very gravely wounded and, you know, we're going to suspend our activities, and i'm going to head upp to omaha where he's being flown in right n. >> janine: carson was campaigning in south carolina. you just heardum. he says he does plan to travel to omaha to be with the volunteer's family. now, we also have other developing news.

[ chanting ] >> janine: the program allows more than 4 million undocumented immigrants whose children u.s. citizens to apply for work permits and avoid being deported temporarily. >> we've got a strong argument to make both in terms of the lel ground on which we're operating but also in terms of the practical impact, positive impact these executive actions will have. >> janine: the president laid out his vision back in 2014. >> you'll be able to apply to stay in this country temporarily without fear o o deportation. you can come out of the shadows and get right with the law. that's what this deal is. >> janine: but so far, that hasn't happened. 26 states filed a lawsuit blocking it from takingeffect, accusing theresidents of

our warm sps at this moment at 64 and key west also showing 64 degrees. th forecast for the rest of the evening, it's going to be pretty tame out there. dry but certainly on the cool side. by about 8:00 tonight some of you will again start that drop-off into the upper 50s. no rainfall to worry about so we show you the satellite imagery and, yeah, we still do have some of those mid and high level clouds rolling in but we did seeee just enough sunshine out there to at least bump our temperatures in the low to mid-60s because with our winds having that northerly component, that continually drawing the for instance of some much colder air up to the north. look at the temperatures we're seeing across the southeast in particular. cksonville 50. atlanta 39 degrees. a bit more of that drains in our direction tonight. so tomorrow morning we'll be commem. but mild for the afternoon as we get into a wind shift. so winds will start to come in from the northeast and each day we add a few numbers to the temperatures. by thursday we're evening warmer

santeramo, the man who once ran the broward teachers union and who was responsible for its $6 million budget. >> he made that money appear on the books of etu. so basically he took money illegally and fried to make it look clean. french from making illegal political campaign contributions with union coffers to embezzling union funds, the 68-year-old is accused of stealing roughly $3,000 from broward teachers. investigators say santeramo schemed with a friend and introduction company owneravid esposito to inflate invoices on work performed, and he and esposito would allegedly pocket the extra cash. >> pat santeramo is not guilty of these charges and all the charges. >> terrell: santeramo resignedin 2012 and was arrested after the allegations came to light. the jury has been drib fighter much of the afternoon on the fate of the iv teacherss union

with using a company credit card for personalrofit. >> the evidence is resoundingly shown that there is no crime in connection with mr. santeramo's use of that gas card. >> terrell: so theft and money laundering just some of the nine charges that santeramo is facing. again, the jury is still out. but we do know that if he is convicted, he could face up to 30 years in prison. and remember, he is 68, so that could essentially mean the rest of his life behind bars. we are still inside of the courtroom, and as soon as there is a verdict wukela you'll hear it right here on local10. for now that's the latest inside of the broward county courthouse in fort lauderdale, i'll terrell forney. >> janine: no fonder a-mile teen who is back behind bars after violating his probation. he was on probation a club shooting that injured 15 people in liberty city. 18-year-old well campbell only served a year in prison for the nightclub shooting. he was arrested friday. he's also being charged with

marijuana. he could face up to 30 years in prison for violating that probation. campbell served time for his role in the shooting at the spot in september of 2014. several of those victims, they were underage, as young as 11 years old. >> victor: we now know the name of a passenger injured in a deadly wrong way crash on i-spive troopers say diego scaras was driving in a porsche as ruesas heading south. ruiz was killed when he collided with an suv. scar yas remains in critical condition. the two people in the suv were also injured. >> janine: a woman visiting from tampa when thieves stole $2,000 from her purse. >> victor: that victim was a in the bathroom at a macy's when she was targeted. local10's eric yeah, spoke with the victim. >> three minutes at the most. three minutes. that's fast. >> eric: patricia thought she was safe in the macy's bathroom at the best broward mall but

zika virus. >> janine: this is news from the florida department of health. ey are telling us to people in miami-dade county reported having the zika virus. these are not people that got the virus, but according to the department of health these are two residents who actually traveled to colombia in december and that's when they got this illness. zika, if you've never heard of it, it's a moch borne virus sum lar to dengue fever in symptoms including rash, feverer and head auk. here's the scary part. scientists say there could be a link between zika and infants born with developmental issues. it cannot be transferred from person to person but, of coue, you want to avoid any contact with mosquitoes if you can. if it's raining, if there's standing water, dump it out. if you are out at dusk or dawn, be sure to cover your limbs so that you don't get bitten by mosquitoes. but again, two cases here in miami-dade county, and a third case, we are told, in hisboro county. any more information that we get
