it is the warmest morning we've had in days. it feels like south florida. >> it's warmer than we should be right now, according to julie. good morning, guys. i'm jacey birch. >> i'm eric yutzy. weather authority meteorologist julie durda has all the details on what's happening this morning. we are seeing a temperature of 69 degrees. we're definitely above average with our temperatures and of course much warmer than what we've seen the last few day and quite some time believe it or not. we've been in the 60s before. it hasn't been this warm in about 15 days. we are going to see temperatures in the lower 70s all thanks to an east southeast breeze. a shift in the wind direction plays a huge part here in south florida. all of that plays a big component into the forecast. with that said it's still going to be a beautiful day, just much warmer than what we're

these temperatures are anywhere between 14 and 23 degrees warmer than what we woke up t yesterday. we'll continue to warm up throughout the morning. it will be comfortable, mind with temperatures in the low 70s by 8:00. upper 70s will be our high as the breeze continues. lots to talk about coming up. all right, julie. thanks so much. guess what, we're accident-free in both counties. what a way to start our 6:00 hour. things are looking great out there. we still have some construction crew that's can slow you on on i-75. southbound lanes here to the distance. but if you live in this location you already know the construction crews are out there. earlier this morning we saw three lanes blocked on i-75 at sheridan street. this is all part of a long-term construction plan. we're still seeing stop and go traffic just a little bit. i did say we were accident-free. this one affecting our southbound lanes at i-95 at 441 and again it

are only on 441, i-95 looking just great this morning. drive times on u.s.-1. if you're starting at kendall drive heading into miami this morning, going to take you about 14 minutes. obviously as the morning progresses we're going to see that rush come on in. it's going to take you a little bit longer between 7:30 and 8:00, between 28 and 35 minutes. right now saved from sinking, a lifeboat and a dinghy boat are beck all that's left from a yacht that started taking on water right off the broward coast. >> the rest of that ship could not be saved, sinking into the ocean overnight. all of the people on board, they are okay this morning. ben kennedy live at the miami beach coast guard station. ben, what happened to this boat? >>reporter: eric and jacey, crews are trying to find that out, exactly why this ship or boat took on some water. at midnight there was a lot of activity here.

passengers were standing right about there when the coast guard rescued them when their boat went under water. the serena three was sinking more than ten miles off of ft. lauderdale beach. it's there that the coast ard launched a team of rescue crews to save the yacht in trouble at sea. 15 minutes offshore it began to take onater, a surprise to the crew being the vessel it only three years old. >> first i didn't think the boat was going to sink so i wasn't nervous. we just made sure we got rafts. we took that boat to europe so the boat's a sturdy boat so i didn't sink. >> they were able to save a jet ski, a raft and a tender but the ship is now under water. it's not@ clear why this boat took on water. they say that part is still under investigation.

morning on miami beach, ben kennedy, local 10 news. developing right now, two children had been reported missing and police of course they are with a murder suspect. you're looking at four-year-old edward and his 11 month old sister. they both were last seep near vero beach. police believe they may with with -- be with his father suspected in a shooting death. if you see him, do not approach, just call police. this guy escaped from police custody in a move that seemed like it was straight out of the movies. erica rakow live this morning outside of the court house where he is expected to appear today. erica this guy got away while out there on the palmetto? how? >>reporter: great escape and it didn't stop there after he jumped out of the cop car. these are photos the

georgia put out. they have been looking for him since this summer. his attempt to escape then and here, he's going to go before a judge in just a couple of hours here. >> why did you run? >> i used to run track in high school. >>reporter: so shouting back to our crews as he was escorted into jail. his time on the run ended in a dramatic and dangerous way. miami police took him into custody yesterday near 137th street and collins avenue. while sitting in the back of the patrol car, he broke one of the windows and jumped out on the palmetto expressway. he didn't just tryo run. police say he then stole a van from a hotel parking lot and led them on a chase. nobody got hurt but he did crash into two cars and he also hit a pedestrian. it turns out he was also wanted in georgia on some very serious crimes.

prostitutes to lure victims to hotels and then he would rob them. he was wanted on a slew of charges there including armed robbery and a slew of domestic threats. they took him into custody yesterday. as he was going into jail he also yelled out a message that he wanted to give to his mother. y want to hear that hour. erica rakow, local 10 news. the miami-dade police officer shot yesterday continues to recover. he says he was ambushed while he filled out a report sitting in a parking lot, firing multiple shots into his s.u.v. he was caught minutes later and is held without bond. the deputy crashed into a stalled car near copans road. the deputy and two

are expected to be okay. one of the federal agents involved in a hit and run has died. scott maguire died from his injuries on sunday. police have charged a 21-year-old woman with leaving the scene of a crash causing bodily harm. a woman is trappedar and the rescue is caught on camera. this is the scene sunday night on taft street in hollywood. rescue teams worked to free her. before those crews even arrived, he jumped into action before driving home with his family. >> before i was the, it was like people driving by, no one stopped to do anything. all she kept saying was drive the car off of me please, please, help me. >> he says he used a jack to try to relieve the pressure. a short time later rescue teams got there and got her out.

learn more informationthis morning about a federal raid that ended with one arrest in memorial. homeland security investigators swarming this apament complex on north 24th avenue just east of i-95 on yesterday afternoon. authorities tell us this was some sort of enforcement operation. a man who lives on the seminole reservation, he is facingngharges this morning after shooting another man in his backyard. police say ricky odell jumped the wall entering a restricted part ofhe reservation. it's unclear why odell was on that property but police say he was unarmed at the time. employees ambushed after a man camps out inside the store where theyork. plus burned out, family trying to use the heat now with a home in ruins. an important warning about warming up with our next cold front. >> which will be right around the corner south floridians. this morning we're waking up much warmer

when he walks back to his cruiser, the driver loses control of the vehicle and slams into him. the florida highway patrol says that other driver should have moved over but they didn't. they say close calls like that happen way too often. opening statements expected today as jurors picked yesterday to hear the federal suit filed by 22-year-old stevens against stephanie adams lynn. you see lynn following ststens whose trying to ride his bike. stevens who was unarmed was reaching for his waist band when he was shot. he's now paralyzed. lynn says he opened fire because he thought stevens' cell phone was a gun. we're getting a look at the damage inside a plantation home. we brought this to you as breaking news and now we know those flames began after the homeowners turned on his central heat early monday morning. he hadn't used that heat in ten years.
