this tree was literally ripped from the ground. take a look. speaking about the sky sky 10 hd was over the area in moments after that tornado touched down, damage nearly two and a half miles long. parts of the roof were thrown on the ground, windows busted out and even cars were moved around. the tooker took aim on broward college in the middle of classes. students and professors heard the sirens and took cover. a truck was flipped on its side, a honda was sent airborne. this cell phone video sent to us by a viewer showing the ef-1 tornado with winds up to 100 miles per hour. trucks were tossed around like toys. this truck was turned on its side and even blocked traffic. back live to coconut creek this morning, today's focus s on the cleanup and take a look.

leading edgef very strong storms developing over the gulf of mexico to eventually push towards the east northeast. we have two things going on. one an area of low pressure basically riding along a coldfront. that front has stalled out to the north of us. eventually that front will be pushing into south florida and that's why we're keeping the rain chances very high today. currently you can see the area of low pressure of the gulf of mexico and that stalled-out front jusus north of lake okeechobee. eventually it will push towards the south. so the timing on this is most of the showers and storms witl start to move in through the later half of the morning and into the afternoon. these storms could become strong to severe so wre not ruling out the chance for severe weather again because all of the ingredient are there, the breezy conditions. as well as the trigger mechanism, those thunderstorms. we'll be drier, comfortable, say good-bye to these showers and storms and severe weather for a few dada and enjoy a beautiful weekend. we want to talk about

become fatal. you can see the s.u.v. and the gray infiniti scene. police say the driver that slammed into the passedway. we're hearing this is a woman, unsure yet of how old she is but the crara happened at pines boulevard around 2:00 this morning. police say that the male officer, he's a veteran police officer. he was on duty. he was heading east bound and did not have time to stop when the gray infiniti that was traveling southbound veered into the officer' path. in this next bit of video the officer and driver were macon to memorial regional hospital where we know the officer is in stable condition. the driver of the gray infiniti did pass away. officers moments ago gave us an update on how that officer is doing. >> officer, thank you for asking, he is in stable condition. we believe he's going to survive. there's no extremely serious injuries and

tree here has been cut up. this is set to be moved out. as for broward college,, we're told things will be back to normal. clses will kick off close to 8:00 a.m. ben kennedy, local 10 news. >> thank you. a mystery in plantation. there was no sign of this 16-year-old boy who disappeared last month and police say they are not getting information out of the boy's father who is the last person to see him. now that man, that father, accused of abandonment and police say he he tried t board a one-way flight to new zealand on tuesday saying he had a business meeting there. he put up flyers of his missing son auggie but never filed a report. we're told the two got in a fight and he kicked the teen out of the car and now detectives say he's not cooperating. >> we have tried to interview him. he is still not being cooperative.

the wind direction, upper-level winds string our storms from the southwest to the northeast and that's been aiding most of our thunderstorms. currently we doave showers again affecting parts of broward. deereld beach over coral springs, sawgrass expressway. the area that got hit the tornado yesterday, something they do not need. you can see the showers stretch as far south as hollywood in towards pembroke pines. the heavy precipitation still well to the west of us. for you in miami-dade, central and southern half of miami-dade you are dry. a line of shower and thunderstorm activity, the national weather service is indicating we need t t watch right here over the gulf of mexico. the redhades on our radar. that means the stronger storms are developing, possssility of a lineup with thunderstorms that could affect parts of miami-dade in a matter of hours. i'll be watching it for you. we have a stalled-out

road situation. caught on camera a man bagged by state troopers drives off in th cruiser just before he's taken to jail on marijuana charges. this all started with a traffic stop. a trooper pulled over the driver for following too closely and also unsafe lane changing. this happenedd wednesday. he and the trooper sat in the car as the warning was being written out and t tn the trooper decided to ask a few moreuestions. >> is it probable cause? >> no, i have reasonable suspicion right now. >> just as the trooper found large bags of marijuana inside, you see the man, he freaks out, he hops in the driver's seat of the cruiser and takes off
